Ollie has a small scar on their forehead from the time that their step-sister, Melody, pushed a bookshelf onto Ollie. The corner of the bookshelf sliced into their cheek a bit, but it healed within a few months. About 3 inches long, and a couple of centimeters wide. Background:

Ollie grew up in an easy, cute little home in Colorado. For a demigod life, they grew up in an easy-going life. Their mother, Janus, could see into the mist. This had drawn Dionysus to her. When Ollie was 7, Janus had told them about Camp Half-Blood and who their father was; Ollie thought that their father had died in a freak car accident when he was driving Janus and newborn Ollie home from the hospital. Ollie was amazed by this and wanted to learn more. By the time Ollie was 9, they knew enough myths and legends and facts and stories about Greece and their culture to empress a History Professor. Which they did.

Janus and Ollie were out in a park one summer, eating ice cream and roller skating. Or at least, Ollie was learning how to. Ollie figured they could skate without their mother's hand, so she let go of Ollie’s hand to see. Ollie was doing pretty alright but ran into a guy who was walking. “Sorry, mister!” Ollie said, and the guy laughed and said it was no problem. He and Janus talked while Ollie skated around, and eventually, Janus and the guy (who introduced himself as Richard) started liking each other and asked each other if they wanted to hang out a few times. Ollie hadn’t seen their mom look so happy, so whenever Janus asked Ollie if it was okay with them that they were seeing Richard, Ollie always said yes, that it was fine. And it was kind of. Ollie just missed their mom.

One day, Ollie was introduced to Melody, Richard’s little girl. She was 3 years old, 4 years younger than Ollie. She seemed alright, she didn’t talk much. The routine kept happening until Richard proposed to Janus. He and Melody move in with Janus and Ollie, and that was about the time Ollie started feeling… different.

See, before Ollie was, “Ollie”, they were “Marcus”. He/Him, straight, young, and innocent. It was when they were 10 that they weren’t quite sure they were, well, a “Marcus”. Ollie told Janus about this, one night when she was sitting with Richard; Melody was already asleep in her room. Richard pressed Ollie for details, and when Richard suspected that Ollie was different, he said to Ollie, “Now listen here boy,” And Ollie felt…weird. Uncomfortable. “I know I’m not your dad, but I think this is what one would call a father-son bond time.” There it was again, the discomfort in Ollie’s stomach, and Richard could now tell. “Marcus, would you like some water?” He asked Ollie and Ollie nodded. “Janus, Darling, think you can get him some water? I think he would like some,” Richard said as Janus got up. The amount of discomfort inside Ollie was nearly unbearable, and Richard could tell.

Ollie went to bed that night wishing they weren’t like this. This confusion. A few months later, the wedding happened. Once the couple was married, Melody kept teasing/bullying Ollie for their uneasiness.

A year later, the bullying got worse. Ollie was 11, and Melody was 7. They were sitting in the family room, Ollie playing a board game while Melody was watching The Little Mermaid when Melody wanted to dance like Ariel, though according to Melody, Ollie was in her way.


Flashback…

”Get up!” Melody shouted at Marcus. Marcus shook his head, not wanting to move. He was almost done playing Mouse trap…against himself since no one wanted to play with him. “Move now!” She screamed.

“No! I’m playing!” He said, crossing his arms over his chest. “You better move or else!” Melody threatened, wagging her finger at Marcus. “Or else what?” He asked, and Melody stormed over to Marcus. “Or else I’m…I’m…” She looked around and smiled a cold smile. “I’m gonna push this over.” She said, pointing to the bookshelf behind Marcus.

“You wouldn’t! I’ll tell mom!” He said, following her finger as she pointed to the bookshelf. “She doesn’t care!” Melody screamed, and she was right. His mom didn’t care anymore. As long as Melody and Richard were happy, she was happy. I don’t belong here… He thought gloomy as he stood up.
“I’m not leaving,” Marcus said sternly, and before he could think, he saw Melody go for the bookshelf. “Wait—!” Marcus turned, and let out a cry as the bookshelf came on top of him. The edge of the shelf managed to cut him on his cheek, and he cried out in pain. “Mom!” He called since he could count on her to save him…right?

His mom came in running and gasped. “What is going on here?” She asked, looking at Melody, who was…crying? Why was she crying? He didn’t even do anything! “Marcus pushed the shelf on me, and tried to hold me back but I ran forward, and he’s stuck.” She sobbed, sniffling. Marcus was in shock. “N-no wait, mom! That’s not what happened!” He said, but Janus shook her head. “I don’t want to hear it. You're always trying to cause Melody pain. Remember the stove?”

Melody burned herself because she was messing around with the controls on the stove, and blamed Marcus, saying how Marcus had pushed Melody’s arm on the stove.

“What’s going on here?” Richard asked, and when Janus told him what happened, Richard picked up the shelf and grabbed Marcus by the arm, and dragged him out of the living room. “You need to learn to behave, I am your father now, and I don’t like how you're treating my daughter.” He said, and he was about to hit Marcus when he dodge. “You’re not my dad!” He yelled, and Richard opened the door to the backyard and pushed him outside.

“Until you learn that I am, I suggest that you stay out here.” He said and slammed the door shut, locking it. Through the window, he could see Janus arguing with Richard, before coming to an agreement. “You’ll stay out here for the night, and in the morning, if you behave, you can come back inside, okay?” She said when she peaked her head outside, and Ollie nodded.

Most nights Ollie stayed outside or was locked in the basement, with no food or water given to them. It went on like this throughout Ollie’s early teen years, even the hitting. When Ollie was 15, they knew the term that described them whenever they felt that uneasiness when referenced as a boy; Gender Fluid. That’s what they were. Janus and Richard pretty much disowned Ollie when they told them about this, and the hitting got worse, the punishment worse as well, and the bullying from Melody? Torture.

Flashback…

Ollie had found the only light in their life so far: their boyfriend, Jameson, or as Ollie had called them, Jamie. A month into their relationship, Ollie told Jameson that the name, “Marcus”, didn’t fit him, so he helped Ollie find a name.

“How about when your feeling like a guy, it's’s Oliver, and when your feeling like no gender, Ol?” Jameson had asked Ollie, who laughed.

“I like that, “no-gender”.” They laughed again. “And then when I’m feeling feminine, I could use Olivia!” They said, their eyes brightening up, but when Ollie saw the look on Jameson’s face, they frowned.

“Feminine?” He asked, and Ollie shrugged. “I mean, yeah. I feel feminine most of the time.” They admitted, feeling embarrassed though they didn’t know why.

“I don’t date girls.” He said firmly and Ollie panicked. “B-but I thought that you said that you were fine with-”

“I said I was fine with you not feeling all that masculine at times, and not having a specific gender, but you never said that you were a girl at times.” He said, disgusted. “So you’ll date me when I’m masculine, but not feminine?” They asked, and Jameson nodded. “Well, yeah. I’m gay, remember?” Ollie did know, but Ollie thought that Jameson was okay with how Ollie was. “But I-”

“Get away from me, freak. We’re done.” He said, pushing Ollie into the water fountain they were sitting by.

Coming To Camp Half-Blood

Sometime in mid-May, when Ollie was sleeping in their bed (After sleeping a few nights in a row outside), they had a dream. It wasn’t their typical dream either.

Flash back…

Ollie was standing on the top of a hill, overlooking a field filled with strange buildings: an amphitheater, a big house, and little houses in a U shape with others hanging off at the ends. Fresh fruit flooded Ollie’s nose. The sour smell of wine came into focus, like the static in a radio station going away. A pudgy man in a leopard shirt and shorts appeared next to them, sipping Diet Coke. The man turned around and sighed.

“I know life is tough, even if you haven’t gotten kicked out of 6 schools in 6 years. Good to know your alive, kid.” He said and looked down at the field below. “It's a safe place for you here, Ollie. Here.” He said, handing Ollie a card that had Camp Half-Blood’s information on it, and a roar echoed through the dream. “You better go, kid. Use the gift under your bed.” He said, and he vanished, leaving behind a pile of grape vines.

Ollie woke up, sweating. The card with the info about Camp Half-Blood was in their hand, and they pocketed it in his jam pockets. “Use the gift under your bed,” the man had told Ollie, so, like any normal person, Ollie looked under their bed, and sure enough, there was a bow and quiver full of arrows.

The roar was closer this time than in Ollie’s dream. Ollie looked outside and saw that a creature with 7 heads was standing outside. From his memory of when Janus told Ollie all about the myths and legends from Greek mythology (gods, why couldn’t life be simple like that again?), Ollie managed to identify it as a Hydra.

Ollie managed to slay the hydra and ran away from home, following the address that was given to them. They made it to make, where Dinoynsus claimed them. Two years later, Ollie fell for a guy who was the sweetest person there was, the bright light in their dimly lit tunnel; Mateo Leonard.

Falling doesn't feel so bad when I know you've fallen this way too…

Fatal Flaw: Ollie’s fatal flaw is their loyalty. They’ll stay close and true to the ones they love, even if said loved one hurts them. Ollie’s scared of someone they love being able to love them as well, but a while down the line, they lose that love. Because even if that person loses their love for Olie, Ollie will still fight for them.

Powers: Ollie can control the vines of grapes and strawberries, or they can make them grow in odd places. Such as in the floorboards of a cabin, or have them sprout from a lamp. Not really a power, but Ollie can make wine due to their mother’s knowledge; wine-making is in their blood. How could they not be able to make wine? Ollie can cause confusion and a little bit of madness in a person, with confusion going away 72 hours later, and madness going away in 24 hours. Ollie doesn't really enjoy doing this, but if they have to, they will. When fear or stress or another emotion similar overwhelms Ollie, their powers act up more.

Weapon of choice: Ollie uses a bow with arrows to fight, but if necessary, they will use vines. If Ollie has no choice whatsoever, they will use a sword or dagger even though they are terrible at using those kinds of weapons.
