I'm currently on page 115, but so far, my first impressions of the book are positive. I think the author has a way of drawing in the reader by using strong character development. I think up to this point in the book, there has been a few tragic moments with a mix of emotions... I felt really sympathetic for Tom Builder when his wife died, but was also feeling somewhat bewildered that he had abandoned his baby...so far I think the story of Tom Builder and his family is far more interesting than the story of Philip..well, up to page 115 anyway.. I'm hoping that Philip's story gets more interesting... so far I have to say that I like the book.

While flying on Midwest Airlines, my flight attendant caught me crying while reading through Agnes' death and eating the chocolate chip cookie she had just handed me. She guessed immediately what part I was reading and said she's read the book twice and loves every bit of it.
