Diane, when you're done, this is a nice dramatization of that book done by BBC radio, if you're interested.

Thanks!

Is Dubliners on the list? I relished most of the stories, but that collection is not on the list I'm following. I hope I'm wrong."
No, it's not on the list.

No, it's not on the list.

I'll be starting it in about a week, once I've finished The Country Girls, it's predecessor.

Three others by Joyce are on the list, Dubliners isn't, though it's excellent.

I am reading "One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest." I am actually enjoying the book, I didn't think that I would.

Nice!
Nice!
My favourite of the nine Atwood novels I have read so far. I too would love a signed copy! Signed copies of favourite books is book heaven!
Girl with Green Eyes by Edna O'Brien of Ireland. Also known as The Lonely Girl, our Oct-Nov group-read choice.
Diane wrote: "The Singapore Grip by J.G. Farrell."I thought that was really good--I've been meaning to read Farrell's other books, but I haven't got around to them.
Aesop's FablesI haven't read a book off the list in quite a while! And this one counts for both: it's on the 1001 Children's Books list as well. :)

I think The Singapore Grip is the best in the trilogy but the other two are really good too.

Rulfo's book The Burning Plain and Other Stories (which is very good) is on the list, but I don't think Pedro Paramo is. I plan to read it eventually though.

The Quiet American by Graham Greene (The Englishman, not the native American actor). I read seven of Greene's novels decades ago (but not this one), so I feel like I'm revisiting the old days.
I just started Kristin Lavransdatter by Sigrid Undset. This makes the 4th translated and long novel in a row for me.
I've started Death in Venice. I am heartened to see some comments from a bit ago that many people like this one. I'm not sure about it yet.

You are, of course, right. But I am very glad I picked it up as I found it both challenging and highly riveting a read, so much so that before even finishing I had already ordered The Burning Plain.
Meanwhile, I picked up A Sentimental Journey. Thus far it is almost as funny as Tristram.
The Mill on the Floss by George Eliot (Mary Ann Evans).
I read and enjoyed her Silas Marner in May. This year is the bicentennial of her birth.

I finally am going to read East of Eden. by John Steinbeck. This was one of my father's favorite books.

Unfortunately it‘s Not on the list. Just Grapes of Wrath, Cannery Row and Of Mice and Men are.
