Mercedes wrote: "Rebecca !!!"

One of my favorites. I am considering rereading it this year.

Bryan--The Bee’s Knees (theindefatigablebertmcguinn) | 629 comments You are in for a handful with The Kindly Ones. But, I will say this: I think it is deeply flawed, but it is also very powerful. Especially the first chapter.

I don't think I mentioned yet that I'm reading The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay now- there's a "buddy read" starting officially Oct 1st. Anyone is welcome to join. Novel is set in New York City just before WW2.It was in the Boxall list only in the 2008 edition, Pulitzer Prize winner. It seems that Boxall list books are very rarely Pulitzer winners.

An inspiring book! Thanks for posting about it also being known as Schindler's Ark -- I read Schindler's List when the movie came out, but did not realize that it was the same book. So one more book added to my completed list!

Bartleby & Co. by Enrique Vila-Matas of Spain, published in 2000 and added to the 2012 Boxall edition. The "Bartleby" title is inspired by a 150-year old story by Herman Melville, "Bartleby the Scrivener".

I really like Iris Murdoch. It's funny I've never been able to articulate why.

I liked The Sea The Sea very much. The story is fairly simple but her writing style really drew me in.

The books I've read, I've been amazed at how she doesn't even really need a story her writing is THAT good.

Haha I wish! I just don't read very fast. Hoping to wrap it up by the end of October though.
