I feel like that's one you can re-read every 10 years because it's more about the ideas and mood than the story.

message 2961: by Jaide (new)

Jaide (ljhazy) | 8 comments I am new to the group, but 2 yrs ago decided to read/reread the classics along with my regular reading. Glad I found this group. I always seem to be behind the times...but that’s okay.

I finally am starting ‘Pride and Prejudice’ by Jane Austen. I am probably the only person (female, at least) that has never read her work. I have also started ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’ by Truman Capote, and ‘A Prayer for Owen Meany’ by John Irving.

Y’all have a really great group here!

Mia | 1222 comments I started to listen Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe so I can finish Foe by J.M. Coetzee, my last list book from him.

I have that scheduled for about 6 months from now. I found out one of the public libraries here has a copy, so will be interested to hear your opinion of it.

It is definitely unique, but in a good way. It is purposely fragmented to reflect the fragmented nature of people in exile. There is no plot, however, and it is not told in a linear format.

I'm rather surprised you've read over a thousand books and haven't read Brave New World yet. Or maybe you're reading it again. I realize a lot of the books you read probably weren't written in English.
