Great book!
Great book!

I feel like that's one you can re-read every 10 years because it's more about the ideas and mood than the story.

Just started 'The Last of the Mohicans' by James Fenimore Cooper. My first list book in a while as I've been distracted with studying and work. I've heard mixed things about it.
I am new to the group, but 2 yrs ago decided to read/reread the classics along with my regular reading. Glad I found this group. I always seem to be behind the times...but that’s okay.I finally am starting ‘Pride and Prejudice’ by Jane Austen. I am probably the only person (female, at least) that has never read her work. I have also started ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’ by Truman Capote, and ‘A Prayer for Owen Meany’ by John Irving.
Y’all have a really great group here!
I started to listen Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe so I can finish Foe by J.M. Coetzee, my last list book from him.

I have that scheduled for about 6 months from now. I found out one of the public libraries here has a copy, so will be interested to hear your opinion of it.

Three of my very favorite books (especially A Prayer for Owen Meany). Hope you enjoy all of them.

It is definitely unique, but in a good way. It is purposely fragmented to reflect the fragmented nature of people in exile. There is no plot, however, and it is not told in a linear format.

Possession by A.S. (Antonia Susan) Byatt, 1990, Britain. A Man Booker prize winner. Listening to it on e-audiobook.

I haven't tackled any Byatt's yet. Let me know what you think.

I'm rather surprised you've read over a thousand books and haven't read Brave New World yet. Or maybe you're reading it again. I realize a lot of the books you read probably weren't written in English.

I started Swannin tie: Combray by Marcel Proust. I'm reading In Search of Lost Time in Finnish so there's gonna be 10 volumes,

Are there any books in the 1001 list which were written in Portuguese other than those by Saramago? And have you read all five of those?

I just downloaded from a public library In the Heart of the Country by Coetzee, one of his list books that wasn't dropped from the list in 2008. I plan to start it tomorrow. It's our group read for April-May.
The Last of the Mohicans! I think I should read it by itself...I am DRAGGING through but reading 3 things at once right now...
I started Swannin rakkaus; Paikannimet: nimi by Marcel Proust. Second Finnish book from the "In Search of Lost Time".
Just got Pastoralia by George Saunders today and about to start. It's a group-read for another group. Ian loved it, so that's promising.
I started Reveries of the Solitary Walker by Jean-Jacques Rousseau. I like his writing style but I don't really like him.
