It does get better, the first part of the book is quite slow.

Technically, I did, too. I made it to page 2 before I was too tired to continue! lol

I loved her book Fingersmith, so I have really high expectations for TtV.

I started The Discovery of Heaven by Harry Mulisch of Holland (Netherlands) a few days ago. Pretty long so I'll probably be a couple months on it. Interesting so far.

I personally found it very moving and harsh at the same time, absolutely beautiful. I wish I had read it in Japanese.

I'm halfway through the book and find it haunting. We live in an aging society and this book is hitting all the high/low points.

Welcome Nakanisha! And don't worry about when you finish. We don't mark readers down for tardiness. In fact, within the last month, we have had posts to March's and December's books.

Radiant Realm | 20 comments I started Tipping the Velvet today. I just finished chapter 2 and I'm so excited! I've been looking forward to reading this book and so far it is living up to my expectations.
