I've started The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie by Muriel Spark and am going to start Thousand Cranes by Yasunari Kawabata today also.
Atonement by Ian McEwan on audiobook and slow going. I'm having to back up every so often if my attention starts wandering.

Sean wrote: "I started our next group read, Tipping the Velvet by Sarah Waters."Technically, I did, too. I made it to page 2 before I was too tired to continue! lol
I loved her book Fingersmith, so I have really high expectations for TtV.
I started The Discovery of Heaven by Harry Mulisch of Holland (Netherlands) a few days ago. Pretty long so I'll probably be a couple months on it. Interesting so far.

I'm planning to read this one in a couple months, so hope you like it.

I personally found it very moving and harsh at the same time, absolutely beautiful. I wish I had read it in Japanese.

I'm halfway through the book and find it haunting. We live in an aging society and this book is hitting all the high/low points.
I started Kidnapped last week, but I’m sure I will finish before the 15th… I’m over halfway through now, and am already excited about September’s book. Please forgive the lateness of my comment, I’m new and finally figured out how to post :)

Welcome Nakanisha! And don't worry about when you finish. We don't mark readers down for tardiness. In fact, within the last month, we have had posts to March's and December's books.
BTW, I am very much enjoying September's book!

I read this recently (though I forgot to mention it here). I hope you find it as interesting as I did.

I recently started Frankenstein! I am enjoying it so far!
I started Tipping the Velvet today. I just finished chapter 2 and I'm so excited! I've been looking forward to reading this book and so far it is living up to my expectations.
