Missing Letters. HELP

Claire Throughout the novel there are a couple lines with missing letters. For example on page 224 Hunter says "ORGIVENESS hasn't come easy." And again on page 253 when autumn says "okay, when it comes to EX, I'm retarded." Why are there missing letters?

Nykki because if you look at the page, the other words make out the "F" and "S"

Kelli F for forgiveness. S for sex. The letters aren't missing, you just have to look at it differently.

Kirby Yeah, that's part of what I love about Hopkins' books- how she plays with the actual type to make it more creative. Anyone who only experiences her novels as audiobooks is really missing out IMO.
