Vanessa (aka Dumbo) (vanessaakadumbo) | 8459 comments I used to like watching his programmes as a kid. He made everything fascinating and was instantly recognisable with his glasses, moustache and voice. Opened the world up for those of us who don't get to travel much. I'll miss him.

I was amused to read that he came third in an Alan Whicker lookalike competition.
