Jonathan | 9 comments Thinking about it afterwards, he is incredibly controlling. Of course he claims never to have seen her when he picked her out, but hello, mail order bride or what? I can't remember the age gap either! Sometimes you just like a book despite yourself :)

Kandice Oh! Don't make me think that Jonathan. I adore this book. I think he did NOT see her. He simply chose a girl in need, and love happened. It could be that way! It is important to my mental well being that it WAS that way!

Seriously, I love this book. For about two years, as a young girl, I wished my name was Jerusha. If I met a Judy, I was always wndering, "Is her name really Jerusha". It's such a sweet, innocent read. It couldn't happen now without raising a few eyebrows, but that was a much simpler time.

Jonathan | 9 comments I really liked it, so I am sure you are right!

It makes me think of the wonderful BBC drama based on Mills & Boon where they talked about the fashions in romantic leads over time. DLL's is from the 'safe' era.
