Walk? Time for a walk?
Zoe and Hugo want to know, at my brother-in-law's house in Encino.

message 8: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Your brother in law named one of his dogs after a crazy former goodreader?

You know, I kind of liked Zoe. That is, until she went ballistic on everyone.

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments Who's Zoe?

Jackie, I love that one of the dogs has his/her head cocked to the side just a bit... and the tail is clearly wagging.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8993 comments Yes! It's an amazing coincidence!
I think my sister-in-law did the naming, actually, RA. I just love the blurry tail action on that photo!

Zoe is smart and well-behaved. Hugo is huge and not-that-bright, and has a habit of accidentally knocking people down by leaning on them.

Flicker in the neighbor's tree during that big snow storm last winter.

My cat Eddy. And if you look closely, you can see the capital dome on the skyline, off in the distance.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8993 comments Okay, one more and then I'll stop for today.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8993 comments Daisy Diesel Dog!

I think you're right, Ko. Same expression and everything!

What is that, Sarah Pi? A cross-eyed... lion?

message 18: by Sarah (last edited Apr 30, 2009 03:21PM) (new)

Sarah | 13815 comments Yeah! Extreme closeup. We got to pet the orphan cubs.

Those last couple kind of remind me of Escher prints-- interlocking cubs.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8993 comments Oh, jealous!!!

message 20: by Sarah (last edited Apr 30, 2009 03:34PM) (new)

Sarah | 13815 comments The actual prides were kept in large enclosures that we were let in and out of by one guy who has to run between four 20 ft wire gates. You were supposed to drive through the enclosures with your windows no more than half open. You may notice my window at various stages of up and down in these photos. That's because Zu kept telling me to open my windows to get better pictures, and I kept getting scared and closing them again. Down, up. Down, down, up up up up up.. Do you see how close they got?

Sarah | 13815 comments ps sorry if I got carried away...only the cross-eyed cub is actually funny.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8993 comments Great photos, Sarah Pi! Yeah, those are some BIG cats. I'd have been a little nervous, too, with them that close to the car.

message 23: by Félix (last edited Apr 30, 2009 04:01PM) (new)

Félix (habitseven) EDDIE!! EDDY!!

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8993 comments Eddie, Larry?

Do you mean my cat, Eddy? The one licking his nose? Named after Edgar Allan Poe and Edward Gorey?

message 25: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Sorry. I meant Eddy.

message 26: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13815 comments I love literary pet names.

message 27: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Eddy the Poe boy.

message 28: by Lori (new)

Lori Hahaha I love that picture of the dog in the kitty condo.

Sarah, I happen to gasp over lions, so you can post pics of them anytime.

message 29: by Cosmic Sher (new)

Cosmic Sher (sherart) | 2234 comments ::gasp:: Me too! Gotta love them lions. :D

Oh I miss being around animals!!!

I have pictures of the baby goats that I fell in love with over Easter weekend. But, they are on Jared's computer and I can't get to them. As soon as I can I will post them too.

The one baby goat, not more than a foot tall, was so into my rubbing his nose that he would push against my hand & his back feet would come up off the ground. Oh... so adorable!

Those lion pictures are awesome! Does anyone remember watching that zoo cam with me on here last year around this time? It was a litter of lion kittens and a momma lion? Donna? Amanda? Lori? Tadpole?

message 31: by Lori (new)

Lori Oh Sally, I'm still missing that. Wah.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8993 comments I remember the lion cam, too. And the puppy cam. :)

But have you seen...

message 33: by Heidi (last edited May 01, 2009 10:11AM) (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments I loooove that in the 3rd to last pic of the lions, the lionness is laying on her back and leaning her head back like she's waiting for someone to rub her under her chin. :) My dog gives me that look aaaaaall the time. I especially love that the lion looks like he's thinking, "I'm ignoring you."

message 34: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13815 comments My dog sleeps on his back like that too, with his hips flipped all the way open. I love the amount of trust it shows... in his case at least. I don't speak lion. (Of course if I did, my window probably would have been even more closed.)

message 50: by Félix (new)
