corina (molteneyes) Do you have a problem? My taste in books is all over the place, eclectic, and varied. I adore classics, I love fantasy, I like kickass books, I like some dystopia, I love John Green (though I've only read TFIOS D: ), I even have a chick flick in my favorites shelf (though how the hell that happened I have no earthly idea). So, yeah. Problem?

Though if you don't like Laini Taylor... I have nothing left to say. Her writing is the most beautiful writing I've ever seen.

*drops Andra into the mountain of fire*

Totally an accident! No problem at all! I've just associated that book with super fans who bite at my throat if I say I don't like it.

message 30755: by dyanne (new)

dyanne Ooh, my taste is also all over the place.

I love Markus Zusak, historical fiction, realistic fiction, John Green (I've read all of his books), fantasy, science fiction, dystopia, comedy, comic essays (David Sedaris), memoirs (The Glass Castle, Bossypants), mystery (AGATHA CHRISTIE), classics (Jane Austen, The Great Gatsby, Shakespeare), plays, just about everything. I mean, I even like some Sarah Dessen crap, and no one expects that from someone like me.
I am really picky about the books I like in one particular genre, though. I've never read any Laini Taylor books... hey, Andra, you have any recommendations on what I can start with once I finish Wool?

message 30756: by [deleted user] (new)

I basically read everything except romance, I guess...

message 30757: by corina (new)

corina (molteneyes) No, god no! Your taste in books is your taste in books. And I was kidding about the Laini Taylor thing, even. Because one of my biggest pet peeves is people critiquing my taste in books. I can read whatever I want. So I would never yell at someone for not liking a book. You don't like it? Fine, but don't go on about how it sucks. Especially if you haven't read/seen it. And now I'm talking about movies and TV shows too. And music. Brit. Have you tried to watch DW? Like, idk, maybe you have, but don't say you don't like something until you've tried it?

Sorry about the rant.

And I finished the review, finally! Phew.

message 30758: by [deleted user] (new)

I am agree with Andra. Since it is very hard to write books, people should at least appreciate it even if they don't find it interesting...

But what I know about books, you know. My opinion about books always insignificant.

*has written books

message 30760: by corina (new)

corina (molteneyes) @Dyanne: YES! I always have recommendations!

Laini Taylor! ;) Daughter of Smoke and Bone is the first book in the series. Have you read Graceling? That's also a fabulous book. And, of course, the first book in the series I just reviewed. Sanctum, by Sarah Fine. Gimme two minutes, and I'll have like twenty more.

message 30761: by corina (new)

corina (molteneyes) What genre are you picky about?

message 30762: by Ilsa, I name me, destroyer of worlds! (new)

Ilsa (eruaistaniel) | 24791 comments Mod
Only necrophilia books.

message 30763: by dyanne (new)

dyanne GRACELING is by Laini Taylor?
I love that book!

message 30764: by dyanne (new)

dyanne Wait, no it's by something Cashore or whatnot. What am I saying.

message 30765: by corina (new)

corina (molteneyes) Lol, no, Graceling is by Kristin Cashore XD

Daughter of Smoke and Bone is by Laini Taylor. My previous profile picture, the girl with the blue hair? She's the main character in that trilogy (of which I'm still waiting for the final book and its killing me!).

message 30766: by [deleted user] (new)

Is Daughter of Smoke and Bone good? I don't know, my belly doesn't seem to react to this book. OwO

message 30767: by dyanne (new)

dyanne Brb in 20.

message 30768: by corina (new)

corina (molteneyes) YES. IT IS VERY GOOD. Laini Taylor has this way of writing (have you read Delirium by Lauren Oliver? It's very similar to her writing, except BETTER.) that just... draws you in. It's beautiful and lyric. Her descriptions are beautiful. It's.... Gorgeous.

Now go read either that or Sanctum! Pretty please? For me?

message 30769: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) Logging off in a sec, but just popping in to say I LOVE Daughter of Smoke and Bone. Can't wait for the last one!

message 30770: by corina (new)

corina (molteneyes) YES YES YES thank you! It's one of my absolute favorites, read now or die books!

message 30771: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh I dropped Derilium series. My friend and I even wondered how am I even finished the first book, they thought I wouldn't last for more than 5 chapters...

I probably will read Sanctum instead. Probably. I'm just not used to read something beautiful and lyrical.

message 30772: by corina (new)

corina (molteneyes) Oh, then you will love Sanctum. It's gritty and hardcore. It doesn't shy around the hard truths; instead it hits them head on. And it does all this while being incredibly well written.

message 30773: by dyanne (new)

dyanne Andra wrote: "YES. IT IS VERY GOOD. Laini Taylor has this way of writing (have you read Delirium by Lauren Oliver? It's very similar to her writing, except BETTER.) that just... draws you in. It's beautiful and ..."

Ooh, I liked Delirium. I didn't really LOVE it, but Lauren Oliver's writing style is definitely something worth appreciating. Rea, you'd probably like Before I Fall. If you liked Looking for Alaska, it's a stretch, but Before I Fall is a beautiful book.

message 30774: by corina (new)

corina (molteneyes) Yeah, Delirium was ok. Not my fave. But I did like her writing style, likely because I love Laini Taylor.

message 30775: by mels (new)

mels (padmeskywalkers) Hi, everyone! I'm alive!

And Dyanne! I read The Book Thief, like you told me too!!!

message 30776: by [deleted user] (new)

Ah... So my belly is right, it picked Sanctum.

Don't ask how, it just did. XD

Yeah, Derilium is actually really good, that's why I managed to finish it. It just... Not a kind of book I prefer to read. Oh, I saw Before I Fall on a bookstore before... Just never picked it. XP

message 30778: by corina (new)

corina (molteneyes) I love Sanctum so much! Your belly has good instincts, Rea.

message 30779: by corina (new)

corina (molteneyes) Hey Meli

message 30780: by [deleted user] (new)

I know, I'm so proud of my belly.

And speaking of that, I'll feed it. I'm going to check if there's any unhealthy-body ruiner-fast food on cafetaria. Be right back!

message 30784: by mels (new)

mels (padmeskywalkers) IT WAS SO GOOD!
I read it on the plane! 5 hours, non-stop reading :)

message 30785: by dyanne (new)

dyanne Did you cry by anychance? ;)

message 30786: by mels (new)

mels (padmeskywalkers) Yes. At a totally random point... Nothing sad happening. I just started crying randomly.

Jessica~We Are All Heathens~ (puppyluvr) | 1702 comments Oh yes I read the Book Thief!! I cried at the end....

message 30788: by [deleted user] (new)

Lamest excuse from an author.

Jessica~We Are All Heathens~ (puppyluvr) | 1702 comments Haha wow....In my latest book I killed two people...ish. O.o

message 30792: by [deleted user] (new)

"It was a character in my book that killed them."
"You wrote that character to killed them."
"No. It was my fingers that typed it."
"So we should blame your fingers?"
"Blame my fingers~"

Oh my God, I was so crazy.

Jessica~We Are All Heathens~ (puppyluvr) | 1702 comments Haha yeah that was hilarious
