Allison (inconceivably) I could agree that they might be YA I suppose :P I have only read the first two, and the second seems to contain a lot more mature themes than the first. But the series is MAGNIFICENT, and you guys need to all try it!

Across the Nightingale Floor is easily one of my favorite books of all time.

Kate (kathrynlouwca) This is just my humble opinion, but I think that a lot of YA books have non-graffic sex. It is pretty much making out, he reaches under my shirt and I knew at that moment I would give in... we woke up... I can't believe I lost my virginity, etc.
I haven't read this series but if that is what makes some people think that it is adult...

Allison (inconceivably) nooo...it wasn't just sex, I think there was some of that in #1 even. (wasn't there? *shrugs*)

I can't remember what I'm talking about...homosexuality and graphic violence are all I can remember, but there was another.

oh well, who cares. Just read them!! They're good :)

Kate (kathrynlouwca) I added the first one to my TBR pile. I really shouldn't have added this group... yesterday alone I added over ten. And now today, the adding continues. All of this adding and no actual reading!

I hear that!! Its nuts.

But you'll love the Otoris :)

Josie (maid_marian) | 126 comments I started Across the Nightingale Floor this morning, and pretty much read all day! I loved the writing, and the setting and the imagery - all quite...haunting?
But:
(and don't hate me)
I thought the 'love' between the two main characters was a bit unbelievable, I mean she sees him out a window and that's it, she loves him? They barely carry out an entire conversation the whole book! So yeah, that's my one gripe, otherwise I thought it was great:)

Allison (inconceivably) Josie, I agree with you too. Its a little ridiculous and made me not really like them together so much...although that feeling left me more in the second book.

Glad you liked it though!! Hope you continue with the series :)

Josie (maid_marian) | 126 comments After thinking about it though, she is only 15, and often that's what you do at that age, lock eyes with a hot boy and think 'it's love' - and she was fairly dramatic, what with wanting to die with Takeo if they couldn't be together, etc., so maybe it's realistic? And he was probably infatuated with her because of her extreme beauty, and mistook it for love? But look, I'm reading too much into it, and obviously not having read the next books yet, I don't know where their relationship goes or anything...

Shelli I am about halfway through Across the Nightingale Floor. I am absolutely loving it! It came in the mail from Paperbackswap and I started it right away. I'm listening to the unabridged audio. I joined this group a couple weeks ago and must have seen it here, because I had never heard of it before that. Thank you so much! I'm sure I will read them all. I just looked through zillions of threads in this group to see if anyone was discussing it and found this thread! YAY!
