Abbi and Melanie will be buddy reading Fairchild's Lady by Roseanna White.

This bonus romantic novella is set in the intervening years between Ring of Secrets and Whispers from the Shadows by Roseanna M. White. In 1789 General Isaac Fairchild travels across the Channel on a very special assignment. After surviving the American Revolution, he is now gathering information on life at King Louis XVI’s court. But he must also locate a countess and her grown daughter and escort them back to England before revolution explodes in France. He knows danger is in the task set before him, but when he meets the beautiful Julienne, a new peril beckons him deeper into the intrigue of Versailles.

Just finished! Wow! This has got to be one of the better novellas I've read. Usually they seem too short and the story kind of rushed, but not this one. I loved it! :)

It was so great to see this side of Fairchild and that he got his happy ending.

I felt so bad for Julienne. It was so horrible how Remi controlled her and how much she feared him.

Remi was so evil and I couldn't believe some of the things he did (like killing Julienne's ex-fiance, poisoning his wife, etc.).

Abbi I agree this was really well done novella! I loved it too!

It was really cool to have Fairchild's story. I thought he was interesting in Ring of Secrets so I was excited that he found someone!

I know! That would be such an absolutely horrible situation to be in!

He was awful! I was shocked by all the things he did and his absolute lack of remorse!

I thought it was horrible how Remi was already planning to marry Julienne before his wife even died and that everyone found this perfectly acceptable!

I was impressed by Fairchild's quick thinking when Remi caught them in the garden. That easily could have gone horribly wrong!

Me too! I can't believe people thought it was acceptable!

That was impressive. At first I had thought Julienne might take it the wrong way, but thankfully she didn't.

It was great how Julienne stuck to her morals and didn't give in to Remi's pressure.

It was interesting how that guy stood up to Remi near the end. I liked how Fairchild said to show mercy.

Abbi Sorry I took so long to reply! I was sleeping over at a friends and have been a bit busy today!

Yeah I thought she'd take it wrong too!

I was so happy that she stuck to her morals!

It was interesting and I too liked what Fairchild said.

I couldn't believe how Julienne's mother could just leave her husband like that without a backwards glance, and to never tell Julienne about him!

The last scene made me smile! I loved that Lord Poole was gracious to Fairchild and didn't dismiss him simply because he wasn't as wealthy, though I guessed he would respond that way due to the fact that he used to be in the same position!

No problem. :)

I couldn't believe that either!

That was such a great scene! I loved that too. I definitely agree - it makes sense that he responded that way since he used to be in the same position.

I can't wait to receive my copy of Whispers from the Shadows! It sounds so good and I just love this series. :) Do you want to buddy read it if we receive our copies around the same time?

Abbi I can't wait either! I love the fact that it's about Bennet and Winter, and Farichild and Julienne's kids! I'd love to buddy it when we get it!

So do you want to start Cuts Like a Knife?
