You finished Joyland already? Good for you, Victor. Your thoughts on the novel are good to see. Where did you get your copy?

Victor Kyle wrote: "You finished Joyland already? Good for you, Victor. Your thoughts on the novel are good to see. Where did you get your copy?"

Yeah. It was a very quick read. You'll probably finish it in a day:) Thanks. I pre ordered it from Barnes and Noble.com for $8.00:)

message 4: by [deleted user] (new)

Awesome. Ironic, I also pre-ordered it from Barnes&Nobel, but it hasn't come in yet. Nor does my library have a copy.

$8.00? Man, that is a terrific deal!

message 5: by Victor (new)

Victor Yeah it is. How much did you pay? I'm a member so I get fast shipping and %20 off all items.

message 6: by [deleted user] (new)

No, I ordered it from the actual store, not online.

Although Amazon.com does ship very fast. I should check there and see if they have it. Or the Barnes&Nobel.com

message 7: by Victor (new)

Victor Okay.

Victor Sorry it's taken me so long to respond, Dustin:( I didn't even get the notification. 13 dollars!?!?!?!?!?!?!? That's more than the list price! Don't get it there, Dustin! Buy it at Walmart or something. Unless you're a B&N member then buy it from B&N.com.

Aw, thank you for the advice, Victor. I really appreciate that. But yeah, $13 is the publishing price. I thought it rather expensive myself, for a paperback..

Thank you, I had a wonderful Father's day!

Battle Royale must indeed be a phenomenal book, since you plan on re-reading it. That's great!

you are reading some great books, Victor. I am reading NOS4A2 now and can tell this will be good. I still haven't picked up In The Tall Grass; but am aiming to do that this weekend.

Nice corner! :D

Here in Israel, $13 for a new paperback is considered half-price...

PS Hi Victor, welcome to the group :)

Yea, it's unfortunate. Books are too expensive here.
Luckily, I own a Kindle :)

Victor You're welcome Dustin:)

Thanks Jon and Alondra:)
I can't wait to hear your thoughts on NOS4A2

How much are the hardcovers??

message 19: by Jon (new)

Jon (jon17) | 372 comments Well, the prices vary because we use a different currency, so the exchange rate fluctuates all the time.
Anyway, I went to a bookstore today and the latest Wheel of Time book in hardcover costs 162 NIS which today converts to $44.55

:-/

Wow, very expensive! For hardcovers here, I think the very most would be around $35 or so, but you can usually find them discounted.

Victor Sunday, July seventh, 2013

It's about time I made a new entry! Reading first!

Finished: NOTHING! The books you don't see in Current are DNF's.

Current:
The Stand by Stephen King
Fallout by Ellen Hopkins
Flawless by Sara Shepard
Zombies VS. Unicorns edited by Holly Black and Justine Larbalestier
A Storm of Swords by George RRRRRR Martin :D
Skeleton Crew by Stephen King

Future:
I'm really wanting to read
The Farm by Emily McKay
She's Come Undone by Wally Lamb
Fallen by Lauren Kate
World War Z by Max Brooks

my reading has been....pathetic:(

Book Haul:
Red Glove (Curse Workers, #2) Fallen (Fallen, #1) Black House She's Come Undone I Know This Much Is True The Forest of Hands and Teeth (The Forest of Hands and Teeth, #1) Perfect (Pretty Little Liars, #3) Unbelievable (Pretty Little Liars, #4)

I got a letter in the mail from my school telling me I was put in Algebra for eighth grade. Weird. I've never been good at math and I was sure I failed the aptitude test we took to see if we were going into Pre-Algebra or Algebra.

I had a great fourth of July! I went swimming and had a barbecue. What did you guys do?

message 22: by [deleted user] (new)

Hey Victor!

We went to a huge parade and then to the fireworks display.

message 23: by Victor (new)

Victor Hey Kyle!

That's sounds fun:)
We went and saw fireworks, too. I think we're seeing more this weekend.

message 24: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah, we had a blast. More this weekend? Cool. Enjoy.

message 25: by Victor (new)

Victor Thanks Kyle. There's fireworks everyday in different places:)

message 26: by [deleted user] (new)

I suppose there are. I really enjoy fireworks, and my kids go crazy over them.

Are you from the UK? You may have told me but I've forgotten.

message 27: by Victor (new)

Victor Nope. I'm from the USA.

I love fireworks, too. I like lots of loud things:)

message 28: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm from South Boston, how about you?

Me, I love thunder and lightning...the louder the better.

I like my music LOUD as well.:)

message 29: by Victor (new)

Victor Chicago.

Thunderstorms are great until the power goes out!

I love music!

message 30: by [deleted user] (new)

The Windy City.:)

True. I hate it when the power goes out!

Music is the soundtrack to our lives!

message 31: by Victor (new)

Victor Indeed:)

message 32: by Dustin (new)

Dustin Hey, Happy Monday, Victor!

How have you been? Did you enjoy your weekend?

I'm sorry to hear that you're struggling so much with your reading..:(

Oh, I've gotten pretty far into A Clash of Kings. I'm on p. 604, and am hoping to finish it later in the week! Dany is getting on my nerves, GrrrrR!!

message 33: by Victor (new)

Victor Happy Monday to you also Dustin:)

I've been great thanks for asking:) How have you been? My weekend has been very good. How was yours?

Thanks Dustin:) I think I got it under control now:)

What about her, Dustin? You do have to be patient with her. You can't conquer all the cities in one book. It is known. :D

message 34: by Dustin (new)

Dustin Ah, thank you, my friend!

I've been pretty good, too. Thank YOU for asking. Mine was good.

I sure hope so, Victor!

She has this whole sense of entitlement about her. Just because she's the Mother of Dragons doesn't mean she's invincible.. you know? Nothing is guaranteed!
Yeah, that's certainly true. I'm just a little irritated with her mind-set right now.. I love her character otherwise, she and Tyrion have always been my Top 2 contenders.

message 35: by Alondra (new)

I'll just have to learn then. Then I'll know everything!!!!

Victor- Chi-town is another name for Chicago.:)

Indeed, she is VERY protected, and I see her making huge strides toward the Iron Throne, possibly even winning..

message 38: by Dustin (new)

Dustin Hey, Victor!
