My name is Sue. I live in a small town in Ontario, Canada. As far back as I can remember I have always loved books. I am so glad that Oprah brought the Book Club back. I started the original Book Club - to read books that I wouldn't normally pick for myself. I am currently reading - The Underground Railroad by Colson Whitehead.

I just want to keep turning the next page to see what is happening in the characters lives. It's a difficult book to put down and walk away from for any length of time.

Hi everyone,,My name is Robyn and I'm an author and a playwright and a mother of four. I love to read books that celebrate the imagination like " a wrinkle in time", " the little prince " my favorite book as a child was " the red balloon" and I still reread it once a year.
As I get older, and life takes its toll, I appreciate courageous authors like Joan Didion, " the magical thinking and " blue nights " we're both just riveting. The simplicity of her writing makes the experience of reading her so powerful. I am so happy to Be part of this group where readers share their passions.

Hi Hiba,
Beckett likes to write stripped down and elemental plays. I don't believe this was intentional, he is a great writer who writes from his unconscious and this was one of his plays that just poured out of him quickly.

by Kathleen Grissom 5 StarsLoved this one even more than the first! How is that possible?

Recently finished Throne Of Glass by Sarah J. Maas. Really interesting read. Can't wait to read the second book in the series. Although I'd give it a 4 star rating. It was a bit boring during most of the book
OK I finished The Sparrow and it was fantastic. I am two days into World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War and so far so good.
I am reading Heating Up by Stacy Finz (love this series) and listening to Wildflower by Drew Barrymore.

I actually saw a college production of Waiting For Godot in which the parts were all played by women. The themes of this play are universal, so the roles can be performed by anyone.
Just finished A Man Called Ove - loved it. Now starting Forever in Blue: The Fourth Summer of the Sisterhood. Can't wait/ believe I am (almost) close to finishing the series.
Angela M. Just read your review on the collection of short stories you read called heirlooms. I like stories like those. I placed it on my reading to do list. Thanks!
Karen , hope you enjoy it . I was fortunate to have an advance copy . It's being published in September.
I am currently reading The Book of Esther by Emily Barton which is very alternate version of WWII containing a great deal of Jewish content, mysticism and magic. It takes place in the Jewish Kingdom of Khazaria which in our timeline was invaded and destroyed in the medieval period. The population scattered throughout Eastern Europe. In Barton's universe there is still a Khazar kingdom and the sixteen year old female protagonist wants to fight the Nazis. This is an extraordinary book!

I am currently reading LaRose by Louise Erdrich. It's another one of her beautifully written insights into Native American culture.
I am Anuradha. I am from India. I live in a University town , Pune in Western India. I am computer science professional. I love reading books especially classics from Jane Austen, Charlotte Bronte and Charles Dickens. We do not get some of the books that you seem to be reading in the book club. I would like to know where you could get to read them ? Thanks.
Colleen wrote: "Just finished A Man Called Ove - loved it. Now starting Forever in Blue: The Fourth Summer of the Sisterhood. Can't wait/ believe I am (almost) close to finishing the se..."I think there is a 5th book in the series,, Sisterhood Everlasting or something like that.
Colleen wrote: "Just finished A Man Called Ove - loved it. Now starting Forever in Blue: The Fourth Summer of the Sisterhood. Can't wait/ believe I am (almost) close to finishing the se..."I really enjoy that series.

Angela wrote: "Hello, my name is AngelaI'm looking for something new to read.
I love historical romance, fiction and non-fiction.
The Twelve Tribes of Hattie was really good! Another two that I read this year..."
Just finished "Island of a Thousand Mirrors" by Nayomi Munaweera. Very nice.
Coleen, if you loved A Man called Ove as I did, try Major Pettigrew's Last Stand. I loved that book in a similar way.
Angela try A Parchment if LeavesA Parchment of Leaves. I really loved that novel. The Poldark Series of books is also excellent. Winston Graham is one of my favorite authors. Poldark is very English whilst A Parchment of Leaves is set in America. I thought the writing was romantic and poetical.
I am currently reading " when breath becomes air" memoir by Paul Kalanithi which is truly rattling me to the core. As an author of fantasy, I tend to read a lot of lighter fare but this memoir about a neurosurgeon is one of the beautiful and bone chilling memoirs I have ever read. As someone aptly stated, it is proof that the dying are the ones who have the most to teach us about life.
The Beech Tree Just finished this great read!Touching. Tragic. Triumphant.
If you read one book this year, make it this one. Phelan creates a cadre of quirky characters who, despite low expectations of them, rise to the challenges they face in consistently unexpected ways. The Beech Tree stands witness to these players in life's theater and we invited to be the audience. You will laugh, you will cry, you will stand up and cheer!
Finished
by Victoria Aveyard- 4 Stars.Reds vs Silvers- YES, I'm talking about blood type... Another YA dystopian book that I couldn't resist...

Hi my name is Nickii and I am currently reading Before the Fall by Noah Hawley. Actually quite enjoying it so far and really like the way the author has brought in all of the character back story's without jumping all over the place!
Hi my name is Diwash and I am currently reading -1) Banker to the Poor: Micro-Lending and the Battle Against World Poverty by Muhammad Yunus, Alan Jolis2) Maximum City: Bombay Lost and Found by Suketu Mehta
I am currently reading Barkskins by Annie Proulx the Pulitzer Prize winning author of The Shipping News and Brokeback Mountain. This book is "an epic, dazzling, violent, magnificently dramatic novel about the taking down of the world's forests". I appreciate how well researched the historical aspects are and how she crafts her story in a manner which draws me in to live with her characters. For me, it's one of those books I can't wait to finish but then won't know what to do with my thoughts when I'm done. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

This is an absolutely great read! It breaks the current trend of "formula" writing and creates an entertaining story which spans generations and challenges stereotypes without making the book a political statement. It's just a great story which will make you laugh, cry, and, as one reviewer said, "a better person for having read it."
