Hi! I just read Georgia (Dawn Tripp) and really enjoyed getting to know more about this artist. I've always been drawn to her paintings so it was fascinating to learn more about her life.

I am on the second chapter of the new novel The Blackbirds by Eric Jerome Dickey. I haven't read Dickey in maybe 8 years. I needed a break from him, but he is just as lyrical as ever.

I think I just got burned out on him; and some of his other work I was not a huge fan of, like his Gideon books. I enjoyed his other stuff that was more focused on women, like The Other Woman, Genevieve, etc. But so far, this book is nice.
However, I will say that there is a first generation African-American woman with Nigerian ancestry in the book named Indigo, and she kind of craps on those who are African American and not fully African. THAT pisses me off, but I am only on chapter 4, so I will keep going.
Finished The Empress of Bright Moon. 3.5 stars . My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Finished
by Tatiana de Rosnay-- 2.5 StarsReally fell in love with this author when I read Sarah's Key but haven't found another book by her that I've loved. This narrator is MVP for this book, which I listened on audio, otherwise, disappointed in the lackluster second half.

Me, too. I was hoping for more of those really good ones from her. Thank goodness there are more wonderful authors for us to find and enjoy!

I felt the same! I started listening to The Martian, and quickly thought to myself "I think I am too stupid for this book.."
My coworkers, who are much brainier than myself, loved it. But I think I will have to stick with more traditional scifi.. With aliens and "science" that is more akin to "magic."
