New research finds a virtual-reality experiment in which you experience yourself as a person of color reduces deep-seated prejudice.

I hate gender stereotypes but women are usually more empathetic then men (which means they could have an easier time putting themselves into someone else's "skin"). I would love to see this study done with men and also get more groups with various skin colors. It is an interesting first study but they need more follow-up studies. Additionally, many studies on other subjects, such as drinking behaviors (I used to do research for an alcohol behavior lab back as an undergrad so its the first thing that came to me) show reductions initially but very few of such short interventions display reductions of behaviors or thoughts over the long term. I would love to see a 6 month and then a 1 year follow-up with these participants.
