message 7: by [deleted user] (new)

Packing for church camp and doing chores...fun fun (not). I guess I'll be on GR a lot today when I'm supposed to be packing

message 8: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm guessing you don't like them?

message 9: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh. I think it would be kinda fun to learn another language

message 10: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh yeah. That can totally mess up a class!

message 11: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah! Have fun at your party Jessy! Te amo mucho mi hermana!

message 12: by Summer (last edited Jun 08, 2013 09:15AM) (new)

Summer (wildskf) Wow, sounds like everyone is having fun today :)

I'm at work, working on these summer reading lists. I feel kind of sorry for the 10th graders here. They've got some really hefty books to read. It's good for them, haha, but still, if I was a 10th grader with this list, I'd be pretty intimidated. Surely the teachers tell them to pick like 3 of them and not all ... *counts* 17 listed here.

Meanwhile, I'm working on MY summer reading list ;) - so far I've got ...

the SWEEP series (suggested by Jessy)
The Future of Us (suggested by Mackenzie)

- anybody else want to suggest a book?

( FYI, I'm not a romance reader, but willing to try if you promise me it's good ^^ )

message 13: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm gonna start the first SWEEP book on my way to church camp on Monday

message 14: by Summer (new)

Summer (wildskf) I was pleasantly surprised by it. I think you'll enjoy it very much :)

message 15: by [deleted user] (new)

Hopefully I can actually read with my friends in the car. They are very energetic but they're amazing

message 16: by Summer (new)

Summer (wildskf) Lucky duck! I can't read in the car; I get motion sickness... so it's strictly audiobooks for me whenever my girlfriend and I go on a trip.

Just curious, where are you from?

I'm in Amarillo, TX.

message 17: by [deleted user] (new)

Norman, Oklahoma. It's just south of Moore

message 18: by Summer (last edited Jun 08, 2013 10:06AM) (new)

Summer (wildskf) Wow! So you've had a bunch of excitement lately, huh? You guys didn't get hit with any of those tornadoes, did you? Tornadoes scare the shit out of me; well, any storm in general scares the shit out of me ._. ...

message 19: by Kat (new)

Kat (thewonderlandofbooks) | 1071 comments I went out for breakfast, and I don't have to get shots today! Woot change of plans. And now I'm just chillaxing and putting up a bunch of photos up <3

message 20: by [deleted user] (new)

No. Last Friday it went less than a mile from my house. Our neighbour texted my mom and said that this person she was with had assured her that she wouldn't have a home when she got back so we were really surprised that our house was still there when we got home. But we are all safe, so that's good.

message 21: by [deleted user] (new)

That's great, Kaitlyn!

Jessy wrote: "WAHOOO!!!! :D I want to go on one now."

I'm gonna get a flying license.

message 23: by [deleted user] (new)

Awesome, Kassi!

message 24: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah. Then In a few years I can fly around the world and country, and meet y'all.

message 25: by [deleted user] (new)

It would be really fun to meet you!

message 26: by [deleted user] (new)

Yep:) I have to wait several years before I'm old enough to get one, though.

message 27: by [deleted user] (new)

I bet it'll be worth the wait! Have you ever been to Young Women's Camp?

message 28: by Summer (new)

Summer (wildskf) Glad you are okay, Mackenzie, and even better your house is still standing!

Kassi, that's amazing! - what kind of aircraft license?

message 29: by [deleted user] (new)

No. Going this year. Last year we moved a lot and we moved before camp, and our new ward had already done it.

message 30: by [deleted user] (new)

Thanks, Summer! Isn't Amarillo in the Texas Panhandle?

message 31: by [deleted user] (new)

Summer wrote: "Glad you are okay, Mackenzie, and even better your house is still standing!

High...not sure! I wanna fly planes in general. Jets. Anything of the sort.

message 32: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh ok. This is my first year so I was going to see if you had any packing advice. for me, its next week. Are you looking forward to going?

message 33: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah! Ummm....definitely be careful if you bring any treats. Don't leave them in the tent. If you do, rodents will chew through the tent to get to the food. Make sure to bring a pad or something to put under your sleeping bag rocks really hurt. Hmmmm....don't bring your best shoes, they'll get ruined hiking.

message 34: by [deleted user] (new)

Thanks, Kassi! We have cabins this year but my sis says that a lot of bugs still got in last year.

message 35: by [deleted user] (new)

Ahh....then most of that didn't help lol. I have cabins, but only the leaders get to stay in them. The rest of us....tents.

message 36: by [deleted user] (new)

John! Remember sunblock and bug spray! Or you'll be eaten and burned. It hurts. I went camping and forgot both.

message 37: by [deleted user] (new)

It's ok:D any suggestions for times to shower? There are only 4 showers for 150 girls and like 30 leaders

message 38: by [deleted user] (new)

Ahh...thanks for reminding me about sunblock. They forgot to put it on our packing list

message 39: by [deleted user] (new)

Do it at night, before anyone else does. So that you won't just get dirty again, but you still have warm water.

Yup. No problem.

message 40: by [deleted user] (new)

Thanks:) is it really warm where you live?

message 41: by [deleted user] (new)

Yes. In the summer it's boiling and in the winter it is freezing. Some years we have hot winters and snow in the summer.

message 42: by [deleted user] (new)

First part is same here, but we've never got snow later than March. And that happened the day I was supposed to get baptized! Last year, it got up to 120 degrees at camp

message 43: by [deleted user] (new)

Ugh. I know.

message 44: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah. Oklahoma weather is just horrible!

message 45: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah, that's what old foster sis tells me. I'm guessing its pretty cold there right now?

message 46: by [deleted user] (new)

Utah is weird. Even the weather man have problems predicting it.

message 47: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh wow. It must be weird.

message 48: by Summer (last edited Jun 08, 2013 12:11PM) (new)

Summer (wildskf) Mackenzie wrote: "Thanks, Summer! Isn't Amarillo in the Texas Panhandle?"

Yup, sure is.

Speaking of weather, Amarillo is the worst. I'm literally had to start my day in a blazer, by noon I'm in a tank-top and at the end of the day, I have my sweaters out.

Amarillo TX, all 4 seasons, all the time, because Texas is bonkers.

message 49: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh wow. Here we just have 90 days of winter and then the rest summer

message 50: by Summer (new)

Summer (wildskf) So, my friend Elyse sent me this link...

http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1...

And I think it is really awesome. I'm going to try to do it :)
