Rio (RedthreadRio) | 998 comments After a busy work week with no wind or word from both Mince or Azalea. Runei kept herself busy, rather liking the chance to focus on just one thing while coming to grips that she was 'in love,' and still under oath. Occasionally she would look for Mince in her comings and goings but he seemed to be rather illusive, or perhaps just very busy as she was. The half elf was granted more than a few days grace for her efforts though, even told by guards and other in house servants that she was 'not allowed to resume her work until the Gentleman's Contest', to which was roughly a five days away. So she planned to explore more of lesser known places in London as reference of her own personal study. The Factories seemed rather grim but as she conversed with the children and some families, a hard job is still better than no job at all. She took her time to meet and greet each family that asked of her, taking note of their needs and words to the Queen. Secretly she was making a list of charity as she continued further down the cold windy road.

Anne swung her tool bag back and forth as she walked into the Factory Section. There was a spryness in her steps, a leftover effect from the other day's success in fixing The Valiant and finishing it. She had a call to help with one of the machines, usually a boiler that was rusty or old. As she kept on wandering, Anne let her mind wander, letting her feet do the job as she considered what she learned the other day.

As Runei was offering some wise words there was a loud boom from the build across the street and soon people were running out to safety screaming Fire! People are trapped. Without a seconds hesitation she pushed her way in knowing there could be child trapped in the boiler room or bathrooms.

Ji Mei (jimei) | 6855 comments Instinctively, Anne ducked her head at the sound of what might have been an explosion. Then she was running, pinpointing the sound coming from one to the factories. She began to curse under her breath. It was a requirement to make sure no one was near the boiler whenever she came to work on it, but a factory owner must have ignored her instructions. Pausing when she reached the entrance, she waited for a stream of people to exit before darting in herself. Immediately she was calling out, "Hello? Anyone here?"

Rio (RedthreadRio) | 998 comments Runei was well into the basement of the factory, pulling kids out of shock, smothering small fires with her dress to make way. She continued down into the source of the fire, two boys were trapped, one in shock, the other unconscious. Taking a very thick coat from the wall she rolled into the just as another burst spit out a boom, much smaller but still hazardous.

Ji Mei (jimei) | 6855 comments Hurriedly, she made her way to the boilers, directing people anyone she passed towards the exit. Pattering down the stairs, Anne was about to yell if anyone needed her help when another boom when off. Grumbling to herself angrily, she yanked her goggles over her head and tucked the gloves on her fingers. Things might get messy down there.

Rio (RedthreadRio) | 998 comments Suddenly the covered three made their way threw the fire before collapsing at the engineers feet. Runei was battered and very much in need of treatment but the boys were alright.

Ji Mei (jimei) | 6855 comments Surprised to see anyone, Anne offered a hand. "You all right? Can you tell me what happened?" she asked, her voice growing hoarse from her yelling and the smoke from the fire.

message 10: by Rio (new)

Rio (RedthreadRio) | 998 comments "Get these boys to safety, the boiler flooded." Was all she said before coughing, faltering to her feet. Runei pressed on, dizzy and weak but still very much able to get to clear air before collapsing again on the entrance.

Ji Mei (jimei) | 6855 comments Nodding, Anne offered an arm of support to the boys as they made their way back to the entrance. Handing the boys off to someone waiting outside, she knelt next to the woman, putting a hand on her shoulder. "Miss? Are you all right? Can you stand?"

message 12: by Rio (new)

Rio (RedthreadRio) | 998 comments "I'll be alright.." She replied as she rested in the door way. "Who are you?" Runei was doing her best not to fall asleep due to the smoke in her lungs. Soon a girl gave her a jar of water and fresh cloths, though raggedy as they were she accepted them with a bright smile.

Ji Mei (jimei) | 6855 comments "Anneliese Roberts, mechanic at your service." She smiled and held out her hand. Then realizing the grime, Anne took it off and offered her hand again.

Ji Mei (jimei) | 6855 comments ((Don't want to do this to you, but I want to free Anne.))

Another explosion went off before the woman could reply. Smiling apologetically, Anne gave a nod and hurried off, tugging her goggles down onto her face. Eventually, she reached the boiler room again. The flames have seemed to die down slightly, but she still worked quickly to stabilize the boiler so it wouldn't cause anymore problems. With that down, she quickly left so that the fire department could finish the job. She was sure that she would hear of a new boiler needed soon after this as she went on her way home.
