Suzanne Sweeney (suzannesweeney) | 1 comments I have a rather fundamental question. I've just completed my first work of fiction - a contemporary romance set in NJ. I'd like to reference specific locations such as bars and restaurants - is that legally/ethically permissible? Also - what about organizations such as the NFL? Can I tie a character to a real team or should I create a fictitious team? Has anyone ever dealt with this issue?

I used real places in Cally's Secret, and I know other authors have done the same. Jamaica Inn by Daphne Du Maurier is a real pub and former coaching house on Bodmin Moor. I
