Basically, I loved how accurately she described the characters. Now, obviously I don't know them, but the fact that I couldn't quite hate her dad, shows just how well she paints a picture of someone. I mean, honestly, there are so many people I've come across that I should want to throw out of a window, and yet once in a while they do or say something redeeming. Also, I loved how it started with such a short snapshot of her life. Like here she is on this one night in her adult life and we get a picture of her being the typical Park Avenue woman off to yet another event. And then BAM! we find out her mom is homeless (which we knew by reading the back of the book, but which is still in such juxtaposition of the immediate impression we get of her on that first page). And then all of the sudden you turn the page and you're back at the start and when you read the first vignette of her early life you think, "Jesus, how could she ever make it?!"
And yet she does.
The story telling was great... character description, dialogue... everything.

9. Love Is A Many Trousered Thing
10. Dancing in My Nuddy-Pants
All Louise Rennison. All re-reads. But I <3 them so!

15. Girl in Landscape -- Jonathan Lethem
16. Men and Cartoons -- Jonathan Lethem
I've been terrible about reading lately with everything else going on. But, yesterday I ordered three books so hopefully I'll be back in the swing shortly. I think I'm going to get a library card at some point soon, too.
