Fingersmith Fingersmith question

Hi, I am reading this book right now and I find the first part quite enjoyable, mostly because is written from Sue's pov. Anyway, I read online that the second part is written through Maud's pov and I can't tolerate that character, so I was planning to skip it and read part III directly. Can someone please sum up what happens in the second part? Thanks a lot!

No, no, no! You'll soon learn a lot about Maud that puts her in a very different light! You'll see the same events, but because they're narrated by a different person, they'll suddenly take on an entirely new meaning. Sue didn't know as much as she thought she did about life at Briar, let's just put it that way!

I hope you didn't read the author's note at the beginning of the novel, because there's a major plot bombshell waiting for you concerning her bibliophile uncle.

Awesome book, don't skip any parts - I read this a few years ago, but this is one of the few books that haunt me...
