Daisy Just to clarify what i mean by innocence. I mean like do you think it's okay that there are people who have almost had sex in the first grade. Do you think that kids should have boyfriend's at the age of ten and go out to movies with them consistently. Do you think it's okay for kids to know more about sex at the age of nine than schools can teach you until eighth grade? Why?

And by education I ask what do you think children should learn at what age? Why?

message 2: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (djinni) We learned a bit about it in 4th grade, but not about the details till 9th. But everyone already knew.

message 3: by Daisy (new)

Daisy WOW that's early

message 5: by Court (new)

Court My elementary school taught it in 5th grade..and now we're back to it in 7th grade.

6th, 7th, 8th, and freshman year. i think schools do it right. but i think little kids have WAY too much access 2 inappropriate material. i dont think they should have boyfriends and girlfriends in the 4th grade n if they do they should have a shaperone. we should protect childrens innocense

message 8: by Catamorandi (new)

Catamorandi (wwwgoodreadscomprofilerandi) My mom talked to me about it when I was in 4th grade. I learned about it in school in 6th grade. I really don't think they should teach it in schools before 6th grade. We also learned in 7th and 8th grade. I don't think that ten-year-olds should be going out with each other without a chaperone, if at all. They're too young. Kids today know everything before they are told, and ten-year-olds don't need to be experimenting with sex.

of coarse in like 4th grade everyone started having a "bf" or a "gf" but it was funny because they didn't do anything they just said that they were bf and gf and that was it!

I agree on the WAY too much access to inappropriate material my neighbor when I was little showed me his big brother's porn magazine when I was six

fo sho

message 14: by Catamorandi (new)

Catamorandi (wwwgoodreadscomprofilerandi) You are right on. I am sorry. I don't think I made myself clear, but I can see that the way it was stated made it sound that way.

In my school, we have to take a small course on it in 8th grade. But we had like "Puberty Ed" in 4th and 5th grade with our own gender, but this thing will be everyone! I DON"T WANT TO!! AWKWARD!!!!!!!!!!!!

message 16: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (djinni) Our real Sex Ed was, we had to be able to label a diagram of all the reproductive organs, the guys learned about PMS and that, about protection and abstinence, options you have if you're pregnant, then a bunch of movies where the main character is a teen couple who's pregnant. And STDs. 9th grade. Horrible 2 months.lol

message 17: by Daisy (new)

Daisy yeah I can list a few of those movies.

Oh it's okay there is actually a 12 year old that's gotten pregnant twice

and then there's another like 13 year old who wants to have 3 kids before she's 17

it's creepy

message 18: by Catamorandi (new)

Catamorandi (wwwgoodreadscomprofilerandi) That's very sad. :(

message 19: by Daisy (new)

Daisy I know :(

And I am not going to get pregnant as a teem nor do I want to be pregnant as a teen

I have a 4 year old sister and I babysit and so I have lots of experience with babies. They are cut but annoying

i have a friend thats a sophomore that might b pregnant, but she wants 2 b. but her bf is an ahole n treats her like crap. i want 2 beat the $%&** out of him sooo bad just thinkin about him makes me angry

message 21: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (djinni) That sucks.

Babies are really cute, but only when you can give them back to their parents after a couple hours. lol

message 22: by Ben (new)

Ben | 505 comments Mod
lol i would love 2 have a kid someday. especialy not in high school. but if she is pregnant n her piece of $%^& bf leaves her or she leaves him i WILL help her take care of her baby. my school has less than 400 students n this year there r 4 pregnant girls, n last year there were 5!

message 23: by Daisy (new)

Daisy your school scares me....

message 24: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (djinni) I was thinking something like that. O.o

We have stuff like nude photo scandals, but I don't think anyone is pregnant.

message 25: by Ben (new)

Ben | 505 comments Mod
it scares me 2 sometimes like the fact that 95% of the kids at my school either drink or smoke weed

message 26: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (djinni) Same. My school just got a budget for security cameras on the exits. For the weed kids.

message 27: by Ben (new)

Ben | 505 comments Mod
we have cameras now 2 but they dont help

message 28: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (djinni) I have a fundamental issue with this whole thing. What's so special about 'the innocence of children?' What makes it better than knowledge?

message 29: by Daisy (new)

Daisy idk! People make a big deal out of it though

4th to 5th, then Robert Crown.

message 31: by Daisy (new)

Daisy I got the HIV AIDS Hepatitis talk yesterday i was bored and the lady was all ABSTINENCE MEANS:

USE ABSTINENCE

I had to imagine my principal (he can't say bra) giving us this talk

message 32: by Anuhea (new)

Anuhea (anuhearamsey) I'm in 6th grade, and we're having ENABL. Education Now and Babies Later.

I'm confused...

message 33: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (djinni) Confused? School's fault. They can't talk about certain things because some parents won't like it. I already went through it all, plus more, so if you want real answers, ask me.

Babies=later, but how many will actually follow that, once you get to high school? And education should NEVER be abstinence only- because it's proven to not only NOT work, but also increase the pregnancy rate, because kids across the board have the same amount of sex, but only the informed kids use anything to prevent STD's and pregnancy. The abstinence thing is working against basic human nature, so it's doomed to fail.

my high school follows it pretty well, as far as we know that is, this year is the first since the 70s, that some one came to school pregnant, deciding to keep the baby.
