Obviously, I get to go first. Ha! Anyway, ask away. I'm getting barking older by the second, you know. Random questions are accepted, too.

wildflower (istyle) | 11 comments Hi Deryn :)
Are you really Deryn?

message 3: by Deryn, Blisters, modern tech. is bothersome (new)

Deryn | 29 comments Mod
Hello, Elktra!
*scoffs* Of course I'm Deryn. It's not like I have multiple personalities or anything.

I'll have to ask all the boffins that... if Dr. Barlow were here I'd tell you to go ask her... but in the meantime... YES I think that would be a great type of beastie! We could ride them all day and look at rainbows and whatever you do when you ride unicorses(?).

wildflower (istyle) | 11 comments Hey, has Alek gotten any taller? He might have had a growth spurt? And how's Alek doing?

message 6: by Deryn, Blisters, modern tech. is bothersome (last edited Jun 03, 2013 01:17PM) (new)

Deryn | 29 comments Mod
Hm... Alek is still a squick shorter than me *laughs* If you count growing an inch a growth spurt, then yes, he has had a growth spurt. I'm not sure how he's doing right now, but yesterday he had a stomach ache after eating calamari, which I told him not to eat because it looked like a load of yackum.

I don't think Alek would like that thought... but it's a funny thought...

message 8: by wildflower (new)

wildflower (istyle) | 11 comments How old are you guys right now?
Also...have you contacted Jaspert?

message 9: by Deryn, Blisters, modern tech. is bothersome (last edited Jun 04, 2013 06:11AM) (new)

Last time I checked (which was recently), I'm sixteen. Alek is sixteen, too. Really, it's only been a year... I think. Dr. Barlow is still a boffin, but she never reveals her age. I'm not quite sure how old Bovril is now in perspicacious loris years, but he still calls me "Mr. Sharp".

I have been in contact with Jaspert, but he's still full of clart. I should drag him over here, actually.

Bovril's eating right now. I don't particularly want to know what he's eating, though.

wildflower (istyle) | 11 comments Does Dr. Barlow's loris have a name? Also, have you and Alek gone a proper barking date?

message 12: by wildflower (new)

wildflower (istyle) | 11 comments Also, how's your Mom?

Elektra wrote: "Does Dr. Barlow's loris have a name? Also, have you and Alek gone a proper barking date?"

Dr. Barlow has not named her loris as of yet, but we all affectionately call it "It", but then it says "bum-rags!" and I am the only one to blame...
We had a "barking" date for about 5 seconds. We had dinner alone together for 5 seconds. Then the rest of the people there decided to come in.
My mother is still quite bothered that I don't come back home. It's quite funny, actually.

Pardon me?! Klopp was wearing a fez!? Alek owes me some details about what happened in Istanbul O.o

wildflower (istyle) | 11 comments How's Lilit doing? Have you spoken to her recently? And how's that Newkirk chap?

message 16: by Deryn, Blisters, modern tech. is bothersome (new)

Deryn | 29 comments Mod
Lilit is doing Lilit things, I haven't spoken to her in a while. I heard she caused an uproar in Istanbul, but who knows how that's going?
Newkirk! He's doing well, though we don't chat as much as I'd like, that bum-rag. I still enjoy being taller than him. I hear on tumblr he's known as Fluffy Newkirk. I don't know how that got out, but I'm sure he'll be here to rant about it *laughs* He also doesn't know that I'm a girl... too bad for him.

Well, I think 1) You're a serious fangirl and 2) I think it's hilarious that people name roller coasters over beasties and air ships.

Air sense, it makes, ha ha! Sorry, I had to make that really bad pun...
Anyway, I didn't know that. Thank you for telling me.

message 19: by Kenna (new)

Kenna (ripleyking) | 10 comments How do you think Animal Rights people would feel about Darwinism?
Do you ever feel bad when you are walking on wood that is fabricated with animals?
Is there some sort of mix between a Darwinist and a Clanker, because I love animals but I don't think I would be able to walk all over them like that?
Do you ever get scared heights? When I saw a drawing of the Leviathan in a book(nonfictional book of course) I noticed that the ropes you climb on the outside of the whale look kind of unsafe. You could be crawling upside down hundreds of feet in the air! Doesn't that ever scare you?
Have you ever tried skydiving? It sounds like something that you would like.
Do you like when someone figures out you are a girl so you can rub it in their face that you're a girl and you do better at boy stuff than them (if a boy found out)?
How do you like your new job with Dr. Barlow?
Does Alek regret throwing his scroll in the water?
If you fabricated a jaguar and a tree to make wood for your floor, would the floor have eyeballs?
Have you ever tried a dress on(I assume you have)? If it's too girly for you, I always put shorts under mine so I can be fancy then go play with the boys after the special occasion is over.
Do you like to play any sports?
OMG, I have so many questions, but I'll give you some time to answer these. I love this series and your character so much!

I feel so important! I'll number the questions. Ahem:
1. I think Animal Rights would absolutely hate Darwinism.
2. No, because beasties are fabricated to do what they are supposed to do, no way around it, really. The boffins do quite an excellent job.
3. Alek is living proof of a semi- Clanker/Darwinist, so yes, there is a point halfway the two powers.
4. Well, not really. The air is a magnificent place, with the wind all around you like a blanket...anyway, the ratlines are there to crawl up and down the Leviathan, and most crew members have their safety clips and belts so if anything happens, they sort of... hang there...
5. Skydiving... hm... it sounds amazing!
6. Well, at first I have a small heart/panic attack when they figure it out, but I think it's already rubbed in their faces that I'm a girl who is so awesome she can do boy things. Otherwise, I do enjoy rubbing salt in the wound. Thank you for thinking I'm better at boy stuff. Boys are mostly full of yackum *laughs* MOSTLY. Alek is the exception. and Newkirk. He was a good chap, that one.
7. It's a very good job. I like working with Dr. Barlow, but she is still quite annoying.
8. No, Alek hasn't shown any regret whatsoever. *blushes* He's so nice...
9. That would be a barking freaky tree, if you ask me. It would probably not have eyes, though. Maybe it would be a fuzzy wooden floor with a tail?
10. Oh ho! I found out recently that a man named Scott found out about that one time I wore a dress to a party... with Alek there to see it. Shorts are a good idea, because I bet I'd be running around a lot and climbing up buildings. I'm not quite sure I trust myself in the city...
11. Sports... no. No sports. Just flying.

That's all your questions! :D Please ask more. I love me, too.

Hello Deryn. How have you and Alek been? I haven't seen you two since March, because of all the traveling I've been doing. Can you believe that the prime minister of Great Britain had me escorted out of the palace because he claimed I was being, how did he put it? "Rude" I think it was. Yes, that was it. But the nerve of that man! To throw a woman as important as me out of the palace is absurd! The only reason I didn't go after him is that he is a such a charmer. But his flattery didn't fool me! Hmph. Anyways, back to you. How have you been?

I've been the same as ever, and Alek is doing fine as well! Oh, what an, er, incredibly daring man to boot you out!

Kenna (ripleyking) | 10 comments Deryn, could you please say some British words for me. I love your accent.

Alright Kenna!
Yackum
Clart
Bumrag
Barking spiders
Blisters
Boot
Calculator
Scotland
Great Britain
Tube
and that's all I can think of at the moment!

Ah, yes the street talk as they call it now. Improper, but common among young lads and lasses as Deryn would say.

Kenna wrote: "Thanks Deryn. Is it true that Americans have a weird accent to you? What do people from America sound like?"

Americans have hilarious accents. They talk so much more... sloppy and free, I suppose. I think British words are more fun, though.

Australians sound more normal compared to Americans. It's what I grew up with. But I heard a lot more Scottish and/or British accents (I speak with one myself)

Alek is being a stubborn bumrag and won't make an account. I can pester him about it though, if you still want to ask him a question.
