message 2: by talltyrion (new)

talltyrion Jenna Grey:

Jenna kept smiling, but she didn't feel quite ready to laugh again just yet.

message 3: by talltyrion (new)

talltyrion Jenna Grey:

"I suppose I did, I just wasn't talking about that." She smiled, eyes darkening for a moment as she remember her dream life.

message 4: by talltyrion (new)

talltyrion Jenna Grey:

"Well, you see, in the dream, I was pregnant. That was nice. But that's just one version of the future, I guess. All the same."

message 5: by talltyrion (new)

talltyrion Jenna Grey:

She shrugged. "Never thought about it before now. But yes, I suppose, one day..."

message 6: by talltyrion (new)

talltyrion Jenna Grey:

"Yes, one day. But not now," she said firmly. "Don't you be getting ideas."

message 7: by talltyrion (new)

talltyrion Jenna Grey:

"So did I. You were there, but at the same time, you weren't. It was you, but not you."

message 8: by talltyrion (new)

talltyrion Jenna Grey:

At that, she chuckled. "Good plan."

message 9: by talltyrion (new)

talltyrion Jenna Grey:

Jenna's eyes closed as she kissed him back. For a moment, she began to feel much better, but the fact that she had lost four years of her life lingered in the back of her mind, like a dark, approaching thundercloud.

message 10: by talltyrion (new)

talltyrion Jenna Grey:

"I know," she whispered. But he had not been the one to sleep for years, and no matter how much she cared for him, that remained true.

message 11: by talltyrion (new)

talltyrion Jenna Grey:

Jenna shook her head, heart heavy with regret. "Four years, Adrian. That's not something you just shrug off. I'm sorry..." Her eyes were impossibly sad.

message 12: by talltyrion (new)

talltyrion Jenna Grey:

"I don't know. I just..."

message 13: by talltyrion (new)

talltyrion Jenna Grey:

"I don't know what to do."

message 14: by talltyrion (new)

talltyrion Jenna Grey:

Jenna was quiet, staring down at her hands. "What am I supposed to do?" she asked again.

message 15: by talltyrion (new)

talltyrion Jenna Grey:

"But how am I supposed to do that?" Her voice rose as she became more frustrated with herself. "I can't just act like nothing happened. It happened. It's done. I can't change that. But I have to know why they did this to me, and how. Please. Adrian, please. I have to know."

message 16: by talltyrion (new)

talltyrion Jenna Grey:

Hardly daring to speak, Jenna nodded. She hadn't expected him to say yes. "You think there's a chance they could still be alive?"

message 17: by talltyrion (new)

talltyrion Jenna Grey:

"Let's get started, then. Tick, tock."

message 18: by talltyrion (new)

talltyrion Jenna Grey:

"You have a laptop? I don't think I've ever seen you with a laptop."

message 19: by talltyrion (new)

talltyrion Jenna Grey:

"Okay, well, let's go get it."

message 20: by talltyrion (new)

talltyrion Jenna Grey:

"Tick, tock," she whispered again as she waited.

message 21: by talltyrion (new)

talltyrion Jenna Grey:

Jenna swallowed. "Alright then," she said, thinking back to the few times she had used a computer. She loaded a search engine and typed in the name. "There!" she said proudly.

message 22: by talltyrion (new)

talltyrion Jenna Grey:

"How do you know?" she demanded, staring confusedly at the screen.

message 23: by talltyrion (new)

talltyrion Jenna Grey:

"That's handy." She glanced at him. "Will it tell us where he is?"

message 24: by talltyrion (new)

talltyrion Jenna Grey:

"Okay." She took a deep breath. "Okay. We can do that."

message 25: by talltyrion (new)

talltyrion Jenna Grey:

"There's got to be something here," said Jenna, a little desperately. "He can't be completely off the grid. They leave some tiny detail behind. Always. If we can find it..."

message 26: by talltyrion (new)

talltyrion Jenna Grey:

She did. As she read through the first paragraph, she she remarked in a disbelieving tone, "Wouldn't he at least think to go by another name?"

message 27: by talltyrion (new)

talltyrion Jenna Grey:

She glanced at him. "You don't think it could be a false lead, or just some civilian with the same name?"

message 28: by talltyrion (new)

talltyrion Jenna Grey:

"But you said they didn't want anything from you. Why lure more paranormals in now? The war is over. He's lost."

message 29: by talltyrion (new)

talltyrion Jenna Grey:

"A grudge is not a death wish." She turned back to the screen. "It sounds like he's trying to fall back into sync with the rest of the human world. Pretend nothing ever happened. But I'd be willing to be bet that he'd jump at the chance for revenge."

message 30: by talltyrion (new)

talltyrion Jenna Grey:

Jenna sniffed. "Hardly a general." She was quiet for a moment, then, "I say we follow this lead. It isn't much, but it's all we have."

message 31: by talltyrion (new)

talltyrion Jenna Grey:

She nodded. "Are you up for a long journey? I mean, you did just get back..."
