Jonathan was overwhelmed with everything, although he didnt show it. He hated showing people how he truly felt, it was cliche and didnt satisfy him in the least. He leaned back on his chair and gave both Adrian and Alyssa a look. "I can stay here, I dont have much with me anyway",Jon shrugged," Everything I have is in that bag". Jonathan nodded towards it carelessly, all it was was a side bag, but it had everything he needed.
Jon grinned wickedly at his brother because he knew exactly about the parties he was talking about," Yeah Im definitely going". Oh, this would be good. Better than good. Jonathan then looked at Alyssa," You dont like parties?". He looked back at his brother and gave him a jokey look," You got yourself cut out with this one by your side, be careful", he laughed.
Adrian smiled when he agreed to stay. "Thats great! We'll show you around in a bit. Only that much stuff? I thought you'd be staying longer.." he shrugged looking at his bag.Alyssa didnt know how to feel now that she knew he was staying. In a way she was kind of excited. Someone else to talk to. But then she remembered what happened at the coffee shop and felt otherwise. She knew Adrian would eventually find out she told.
Adrian chuckled "Funny because we first met at a party and she was theheart of It" he grinned at the girl on his side.
"I do like parties!" She said defensively."just not necessarily the people at them or what happens there..." she murmured, "anyway I like this one. Its my best friends. I could totally hook you up with her depending on your relationship status" she shrugged.
Adrian laughed "you weirdo. Im going to hit the shower now guys." He turned to alyssa and kissed her briefly. "Love you." He said referring to their fight earlier. She said she did too and that they'd talk later. Then he left.
"Well I'll show you around I guess." She got up.
Jonathan looked at his small bag and then looked at his brother," I will be staying longer, living with you will be temporary. But once I get a job I will find my own place around here". Jonathan looked at Alyssa and said," I find this place... intriguing". What he meant is he found Alyssa intriguing, but his brother wouldnt catch on to that. Jonathan watched his brother go and gave him a mock salute, he stood up and laughed," Hook me up with her? Its okay, Im sure I could hook myself up with her, all you need to do it point her out to me". Jon was cocky, oh he knew all too well how confident he was. But that was just him.
He looked at Alyssa and put his hands in his pockets, he nodded," Sure, show me your place. By the way, I wont tell Ade what you told me at the coffee shop, your secret is safe with me".
Intriguing. Thats the word that replayed in Alyssa's head. What possibly could be intriguing about this two bedroom flat. She was sure there was more to his words but decided not to think too much of it. "So you seem pretty sure of yourself huh? I can't promise she'll be into you though. She falls for jerks, you don't seem like one." She smiled at him. "But seriously, she's nice and cute. A little short but you might like her. Jenna's her name."
She hooked her hand onto his elbow and dragged him further into their home, stopping as he said that. She sighed turning to him. "I'm sorry you had to find out through me. I totally agree, he should havw told you. If my siblings were old enough I would tell them, I guess. I just want you to know I dont support you lying for me. Be honest with Adrian if the subject comes up. I will be too and I'll deal with the rest later. I love your brother." And as if the conversation never took place she turned around "this is the kitchen. Self service in here. And please make yourself at home here, do whatever. Just no smoking inside please? Also theres only one and a half bathrooms. We all have to share one shower. Sorry about that."
Jonathan smirked at her and then nodded his head," Thanks for saying I'm not a jerk, but dont worry, I can be". He made a questioning face and then looked down, he knew how much of a jerk he could be. In fact sometimes he was even cruel, which was never good. He nodded," I like short girls, Jenna huh? I like her name too". This would be fun.
Jonathan smiled ever so slightly, like he admired her. Which he did, she was genuine and his brother needed that type of person. But if his brother took advantage of that he would kill him. " Oh no, I wont smoke inside. Its okay, I wasnt expecting a mansion, Alyssa". He nodded as he looked around and then looked at Alyssa thankfully, he said," Thank you for letting me stay here. I promise I wont be a hassle".
((Are they going to have an affair or start to feel something for each other))
((Whatever fits I suppose..))"You're welcome... but I don't know how saying you can be a jerk will make me want to not worry.." she laughed a little. "If things do get serious with you two you better not be a jerk. I'll beat you up. I'll have to tell her that I'm bringing a surprise over. " she grinned widely.
Alyssa glanced at him for a split second. Even though he looked like Adrian, he was totally different on the inside, at least so far. She hoped he was. "Hey you're family right, any time. Anyway you'll be staying in this room.." she opened the door to a medium sized room with a small balcony. "You could smoke there if you wish. Sorry for the mess, I'll clear it up. It's actually sort of my room but I dont use it much." She shrugged. "The bathroom is at the end of the hall, and Adrian and I will be in the room right across you so if you need anything or dont know where stuff is..." she continued tp tour where she showed him the laundry room and everything else.
"Well thats it. So adrian said you worked at a restaurant?"
Jonathan shook his head," I dont work in it, Im an owner of one. It was a birthday gift from my mother and father about three years ago". Jonathan stuck his hands in his pockets and then leaned against the wall, he shrugged," You are welcome to it any time, on the house". Jonathan looked inside is room and smiled down at Alyssa," No, its perfect. Thank you!". He grabbed her wrist softly and then said," Dont worry, I will clean it", her skin felt so soft and smooth, like he was running his hands across a feather.
He liked it, maybe he liked it way too much, more than he should. He shook his head out and then slowly removed his hand from her wrist to stick it back in his pocket.
Then he looked around to her again and said," And hey, dont worry about your friend. I will be nice to her, I always am", he gave Alyssa a cocky smile.
"Wow. My birthday present three years ago from my parents was a hand knitted sweater and tickets to a magic show because I used to want to be a magician.." she smirked with a raised brow. "On the house? Might take up on that offer." She wondered if it was nearby. "You don't have to, I can do it." She shrugged "and its really no problem." She became aware of her wrist gently cupped in his manly hand. It made her nervous although she refused to admit that. There was definitely tension between them and that wasn't going to be good. She felt disappointed in a way when he let go and watched it go back in his pocket. She was even thinking of taking it back before it went in. Just then adrian walked upto them, a towel around his waist grinning at them. "All good?"
Alyssa nodded "Sure."
Jonathan laughed at Alyssa's explanation of her birthday gift," Well my parents were rich, I dont speak to my birth mother. Macie is practically my mother now anyway, she gave my father happiness and she gave me another brother". Jon smiled down at her and then nodded," Of course on the house!".He looked at Alyssa for a while when they looked each other and when he saw the expression on her face of when he grabbed her wrist. He kind of wanted to softly take her hand and kiss it. His eyes widened and then he shook his head out, he couldnt be thinking this!
He looked up to his brother and then smiled," All is good my brother. Thanks for letting me stay".
Jon gave Alyssa one more soft look, an appreciative and genuine one. He slowly walked back into the kitchen and then sat down on a chair. He sighed and ran his fingers through his hair.
Alyssa rolled her eyes at herself. Why was she being so selfish? She turned to Adrian. "Hey how come you dont talk about your family so much? I barely know anything. And so far I've only met Jonathan."Adrian nodded over at his brother before turning his attention to her. He shrugged "there's not much to say. Plus, I dont like talking about them. Maybe Jon here can satisfy you. Right bro?"
Satisfy. Was that the only word he could think of. Alyssa shook her head. Why was she thinking like this? "Ade, put on some clothes, please." She pushed his chest gently away from her.
"You sure you want me to?" He grinned.
"Clothes. Now. " she pointed to the room and he walked inside like a puppy. She rolled her eyes. "So what are you planning for today?" She walked back to Jon, hoping their earlier chemistry was over.
Jon laughed bitterly and raised his eyebrows quickly, he didnt like talking about their family much either. Especially because of there birth mother. Ade didn't like to talk about it because him and Macie never used to get on, but after a while they kind of just accepted each other. Macie was always asking and making an effort to try and bond with Ade, it just never worked.
Jonathan looked at Alyssa and said," Today? Urm, I'll probably wonder around a bit more, get to know the place. That sort of thing". Jonathan shrugged and didn't really know what to say, except that he was happy he was here. Glad that they had allowed him to stay here.
Alyssa nodded slowly. "Well im free today mostly so I could be your tour guide, if you wish." She grinned at him. "Oh and Ade and I are watching a movie tonight so you have to watch with us please." Maybe she'd get to sit in between them and try to get another touch of jon. Then she felt embarassed for thinking that way. She liked it when he held her hand, for some reason. It felt different. And it wasn't disloyal to Adrian, was it really? She sighed. "But tomorrow I have a job interview! Its at some restaurant, they need a live musician or something, and the timings totally work for me. I just hope I get that." She said.
Jon smiled," Wow, yeah that would be great! I hope I'm not invading too much though. I feel like I've just come here and kind of turned everything around". Jon have Alyssa a guilty smile and then saw her blush a little bit. He wondered what she was thinking.
"Oh wow, that awesome! You'll definitely get the job, Alyssa", Jon nodded and gave her a soft smile. "Wait, so you sing?".
Alyssa shook her head "you're not invading anything. To be honest, im kind of glad you're here. It gets a little boring sometimes just the two of us." She said referring to her and Adrian. "Okay so do you have anything in particular that you would like to see? I could show you some parks, malls, gyms, since you work out... hm what else? Ooh, the beach is lovely." She drifted off.She smiled a bit, "yeah I can sing a bit I guess. I also play the guitar. But I dont think they want a guitarist.."
Adrian joined them then, dressed now. "Are we talking about singing? Alyssa sings in the shower, beware."
Alyssa gave Adrian an annoyed look. He was not going with them on the little tour.
Jonathan smiled and nodded as he listened to the long list of things that the tour would contain," Oh okay, that sounds awesome!". He looked over Alyssa while she spoke to Adrian and couldn't help but wonder how Adrian got her. Don't misunderstand, his brother wasnt an ugly dude, but he was a mess emotionally. One minute he was happy the next he was annoyed, there was no middle. Jonathan looked back at Adrian and said," Nah, it's okay. We probably all sing in the shower secretly". Then he did a double take at Ade and said," Dude, where do you work?".
Alyssa looked at Adrian and wondered the same thing. When the two first met, they were young and looking for the same things. He was handsome, the thing that first struck her, and then he was charming. He made her feel loved, and that was great. Plus they started off as flat mates. He became her best friend and as he did, she realised he was broken. Maybe another reason she let herself love him was so that she could fix him. She never wanted to admit that this was a project because she believed it was more. So far it wasn't very successful. Adrian chuckled "I don't. I hate singing. I'd rather, you know, read or something. Or watch stuff." He looked over at his brother. "Work.. well I'm still in college but I work part time as lifeguard at the beach. And I'm a swimming trainer. Mostly on weekends and after or in between classes. None this week. You any good? Life guard needed. I might quit."
Jonathan chuckled," Sweet, hot babes everywhere. Nah man, it's okay, I own a restaurant". He didnt want to say who gave it to him, not to Ade and definitely not right now. He would probably get mad or something. Jonathan twiddled his fingers about and then looked at Ade," I was just telling Alyssa that you and her should visit some time, you guys can have the meals on the house huh?".
"Yes very hot." He looked at Alyssa quickly, preparing himself for an attack. She didn't even look at him. "Not that it matters.." he added, taking her hand, in a similar way that Jon had just moments ago. Alyssa looked down at their hands then back at the brothers. It wasnt the same. Maybe it was the grip?"A restaurant? Wow you own a restaurant and I teach kids how to swim. How did that happen." He wondered out loud. "Your starting to remind me of dad." He rolled his eyes. He then nodded "yup, sure. Anything for a free meal." He grinned. "Isnt that right Lys?"
She smiled a bit, "sure babe."
((Oh god I'm so sorry!)) Jon watched carefully as his brother more or less grabbed Alyssa's hand, he looked away for a minute until they got there shit together.
Jon licked his lips and then said," Oh, urm, well-", he was a bit hesitant to tell Adrian how he got the restaurant but he had to.
"Dad gave me the restaurant for my 18th ".
Jonathan stood there with his hands crossed over and face empty, he didnt want to add to it.
Jon felt bad for telling him like this but what could he do.
"But yeah! You guys can come any time and it will always be free", Jon said softly, he didnt care if it lost him food or money, that was his brother. He looked at Alyssa and smiled slightly, then looked away.
((It's okay hah))Adrian listened as he told him how he got the restaurant. His face didn't show any jealousy or anger or really anything. He hated his dad anyway. He chose his moms side in the divorce. He also knew from the beginning who the favourites were. Plus Adrian never really expected anything from his parents because he never gave anything back to them. "That's nice of him." He commented. Now that he knew that this was hia fathers doing he didnt ever want to go there. "We probably won't get the time to visit though, its too far away." He shrugged. "But hey, if you wanna learn how to swim, I won't charge ya."
"Ad-", Jon sighed and looked down, he smiled and said," Sure, I'll come around to you". Jonathan hated the fact that they were apart, they hadnt seen much of each other when growing up. Adrian had chosen mother and Jon had chosen father, there wasnt much to do about it.
But Jon needed to get one thing off of his chest. "Dad doesn't hate you, Adrian", he said softly. His father asked about Ade almost every time Jon and him texted or sent emails to each other. Even though father was hesitant to ask or apologies, he still cared for Adrian.
Jon looked to Ade and said," We have a half brother that you should really meet, nicest kid ever. Don't be upset with him for who his mother and father are or what they did to you, okay?".
Adrian shook his head, "I know he doesn't hate me Jon. But I'm not saying im particularly fond of him and I know he's not of me." He shrugged. He never really wanted to do much with his family. He would visit his mother now and then but that was it. He was happy where he was though. It was just him. "Oh yeah." He said remembering a brother he heard of a while back. "Yeah whats his name... anyway I have no intention of going back there anyway. Probably a good kid but he's better off not knowing me, and I him."
Alyssa watched as this took place. She had no idea what was going on. "You have to see them, Adrian. Family is family. There's no excuse."
Jon sighed. There wasnt much he or anyone could do. Once Adrian was set on something, that was it. Maybe Alyssa could convince him, but that might make them get into arguments. "Kyle", Jon replied," His name is Kyle, and he's 15". Jon didnt want his family to be split, but there wasnt much to do. His father was stubborn and so was Adrian, they both took after each other he guessed. Jon looked down briefly, because it was Kyle who was going to feel guilty now, he's going to feel like he's to blame. The kid was always like that, blaming himself and putting others first.
Adrian sighed "No Alyssa, family is only family if you love them. I don't. Its as simple as that. ""What happened to unconditional love? Families aren't always perfect. You have to stick together."
"Stick together? My so called family doesn't stick together. And if the old man wanted to see me he woulda called."
"Oh here comes the pride. I don't know how you can want a new family if you cant love the one you already have."
"Isnt that the point of a new one? You dont have to be so stupid." He rolled his eyes.
She glared at him. "I'm going to go clean the room for Jon now." She said before leaving the two to tidy up the room.
Adrian sighed and turned back to his brother.
Jon raised his eyebrows at his brother," Dude, you know not to say that to her". Jon shook his head and laughed bitterly, he knew how Adrian could be, Jon could tell what kind of dude Ade was. Tough guy who doesn't think before he speaks. He acts on emotion rather than thought. Jon tucked his hands in his pockets and leaned against the wall," You can slate the family but you can't do that to her, she's there for you man", he said softly. Maybe he admired that, maybe he wanted that. His brother was too foolish and child like to understand what he had.
Adrian looked at his brother in a surprised way. Why was he telling him what to do and not to do. "Are you serious? She was being stupid. She doesn't know what its like to have such a messed up family." He rolled his eyes. "She's great and stuff but she can be a real bitch, man." He walked over to the fridge and took out another beer "need anything bro?"
Jon glared at his brother. He walked away from him and went to his room, he caught Alyssa putting sheets on the bed. He grabbed her by the wrist and dragged her to the kitchen, he looked at his brother and gritted out harshly,"Say it again". Jonathan hated disrespectful people, he hated how some men treated their girlfriends. Don't get him wrong, he had his fair share of one night stands but he was a gentlemen about it, never did he disrespect or bully the women.
Jon stood there tall and with his jaw clenched, daring Adrian to push his luck.
Alyssa was shocked. What was going on. This was totally awkward. "What are you doing?" she asked, suddenly frightened of both of them. What mess had she got herself into...Adrian stared at his older brother in anger "hey, let go of her. Don't touch her." he said harshly. Who was h to tell him what to do or not to do.
"guys calm down please!" she said loudly.
"let her go Jon or I will fucking punch you in the face."
"Adrian!" Alyssa was shocked. "calm down! What's going on?"
"I told him you were a bitch" he spat
"why would you say that? What the fuck Adrian. Are you drunk?!"
Jon suddenly laughed, bitterly though. He let go of Alyssa and walked around with his hands behind his back. "Oh Adrian, you haven't changed one bit, have you?", he said," You'll always be tough guy Ade huh?". Everyone always knew Adrian as the jock who got into fights and trouble. That was in high school. Jon looked at Ade and said blatantly," Grow up". Then he looked at Alyssa and said," I'm sorry, but I can't stay here. I'm sorry you went through all that to set it up. I can't watch him call you things when really you're the sensible one here". Jon picked up his side bag and without a second look walked to the front door and shut it, walking out.
"look what you've done Adrian!" Alyssa shouted frustrated. "you scare off everyone! This is why I dont have any friends." she quickly went to the door before he got into the elevator and walked out, catching up to him. "Jonathan, I'm so sorry for that, I can't describe how sorry I am. You cant just leave now. You have nowhere to go. Stay one night, then you can leave if you want." she pleaded shamefully. She needed someone else in the house too and she knew Adrian did too.
Jonathan breathed heavily and sighed, giving up. He heard the desperate cry that Alyssa was giving off, she wanted him in the house and that made him feel guilty for wanting to leave. He looked aside and then looked at Alyssa," Alyssa, I can't, not if he's going to do that again". But he couldn't leave, he knew he couldn't.
He looked down at the ground and then looked back up at Alyssa softly," But I'm going to come back, just for one night I'm staying, okay?". He walked to her and sighed.
She was glad he was staying. "He's not normal you know. There is something wrong with him. I think he's bipolar but im pretty sure it's more complicated than that. I have to deal with it. He has no one else. That's why you're here. He has friends but they cant cope with him like this. You have to understand." She sighed looking up at him as he walked to her. "At least one night. "
Jonathan knew his brother had something, but he also knew that there was no way in hell that Adrian would visit a doctor. His brother had too much pride for that, he was too manly, he didnt need a doctor. "Then break up with him", Jonathan said suddenly.
He knew he was wrong to even mention something like that, but he didnt want to see someone good being dragged down by his brother.
Alyssa seemed surprised when when he asked her to do that. What was his problem? Who was he to tell her who she should be with. But he was right, she has thought about it many times before but she never seems to be able to. "no." she said quickly. "I won't. He needs me right now. I have to try to help him."

Jonathan sighed heavily," You know he doesn't deserve you". Adrian and Jonathan had always had issues, some could be resolved and some couldn't, that was just the way it was. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said that", he apologised," It's not my place".

((Its all cool, we all are))"No, please don't apologise." She knew he was right. But it didn't feel right to abandon Adrian like that. She wasn't even sure if she loved him. "Come back inside. We'll order lunch, anything you want. My treat." She flashed him a smile as if nothing happened.
Jonathan looked from the road to her, he sighed and then looked back up at the apartment. "Sure", he said briefly. He walked to her and then said," He's going to be real pissed, isn't he?". Jonathan couldn't be bothered to deal with Adrian's behaviour and immaturity, all he wanted to do was spend time with him. Who knows how long it would be until they met again?
She walked back up with him casually "oh don't even worry about it. He's actually sweet sometimes and he's going to feel guilty. " she led himbback inside. Adrian was staring at the television screen, looking up when they arrived, a softer expression on his face. He got up to face them "you're back." He said glancing at his brother. He was guilty but not that guilty "that wasnt a great start. "
Jonathan stood tall. To be honest he was annoyed, but this was his brother, they didnt see each other much but whenever they did they had a good time.
"I hate to be the first one to apologise but...", Jonathan smiled," Um, I'm sorry".
He couldn't believe he was apologising, but all he wanted to do was get this over with. He looked over at Alyssa and smiled too.
Alyssa smiled at Jonathan then folded her arms, looking at Adrian. "Is tthere something you need to say?" She asked him, as if he were a childHe glared, "are you serious..." he examined her "you are." He muttered and sighed exaggerating. He looked over at his brother "I'm sorry too." He said half meaning it. He glanced at Alyssa "I'm sorry Alyssa." He said to her, meaning it more. She was the only person he had and he tried just a little more not to lose her even though he already was "I know I mess up just try to forgive me."
She nodded at him "only if you agree to go to the doctor with me tomorrow. I've already scheduled your appointment. "
"No! I'm fine okay?"
"You're not. This is the only way you can make it up to me."
Jonathan knew that his brother didn't mean his sorry whole hearted, but he still accepted. He looked at Adrian's reaction to the doctors appointment, he was not happy about it at all.
Jonathan shoved his hands in his pockets and sighed," Dude, just go. What's the worst that could happen?", Jonathan shrugged calmly and raised his eyebrows.
He looked at Alyssa and saw that she was dead serious," Im sure Alyssa is more important to you, if this is how she wants to be proved that you're sorry then do it".
It was simple.
Adrian cursed under his breath and argued some more beforr finally giving in. "Fine, I'll go. But just once." Alyssa smiled at that but just slightly "good."
Adrian smiled and took the beer from his brother "You too? Damn." He opened it and took a swig. "Alyssa doesn't drink either."
Alyssa nodded, but she had her own reasons for it. She was surprised he was a smoker. Alyssa hated smokers. And again she had her own reasons for that. Now she would know not to get near Jonathan's smoky mouth.. not that she would anyway.
"So I guess college parties are not in the question for you...?" He grinned remembering that stuff too. "Because a friend of ours is throwing one at her lakehouse. Its gonna be crazy."
Alyssa remembered how the last crazy party she went to with him worked out and she rolled her eyes. "They're pretty fun but suck if they get out of hand. You should come if you want."
Adrian nodded. "Yeah, by the way. Where are you staying? I thought you'd come and stay with me while you're here. We have room."
