Where the Fa'liq's horses are kept, and where the stable boys work.

Skipping towards the stables, where Cora was fairly certain Nel would be, she stepped in ignoring the stares that went her way at her entrance.
Nel, having finished brushing down a mare in the stables, was moving to cleaning out her shoes. He hefted the leg up to his knee, beginning his work when he heard someone entering the stables.
"Nel!" She called, a grin splitting her lips. "I thought I'd find you here!"
Neliet grinned, seeing Cora. "Well, hey, Cae," he greeted, glancing down at his work, "How have you been?"
"I've been good." She smiled politely, pulling over an empty pail and turning it over so she could sit while he worked. "What have you been up to lately?"
"Work," Neliet replied, "Harry here has to be attended to." He patted the mare's side lightly, eliciting a snort of contentment.
Nodding, Cora asked a question she already knew the answer to, just to make conversation with her friend that didn't know she knew all the horses and workers by name. "Who's horse is he?" She motioned towards the mare.
"Corazon," Neliet murmured, focusing back on removing a stone from the shoe. He pursed his lips, scowling faintly. "She damn tired, too. Do me a favor and give her a carrot from the basket."
Reaching for the basket, she grabbed a carrot for her own horse, who knew it was the youngest Eadlin by the familiar smell. As Cora fed her mare, she was nuzzled by the creature. Giggling, she turned to Nel. "It likes carrots a lot." She knew that carrots were the favorite of her beloved beast.
"Yeah, well, Harry is like most horses in that aspect," Neliet grunting out, finally removing the stone, "Here's where the limp came from. Have to tell the vet about it." He went around to check the rest of the shoes for rocks or pebbles, whistling softly. "How long are you here for? Almost time for break."
"I'm here as long as you want me." Cora shrugged, acting nonchalant though she didn't want to be rejected.
"Good," Nel replied, standing up. His features were graced with a grin, almost ear to ear. "You hungry? We got some good gruel going."
"Sure." Cora returned the smile even though she had not in fact had any kind of gruel before. She didn't really know what to expect.
Nel's brows rose. A peculiar answer, considering gruel was bland and felt like a warm liquid with chunks sliding your throat. He smiled anyways, holding out his hand for her to take.((brb shower))
Frowning at the expression Neliet wore, she knew she must have answered something wrong. "You know if I said something funny you can tell me." Cora grabbed Nel's hand which felt warm in her own, a fuzzy feeling growing inside of her.
Since she had first met Nel, she knew he was different. She liked that about him, and it intrigued her. He was so kind and generous despite his lack of the lavish living conditions that she was subjected to. In a way, she wondered how he could be so happy all the time. She had wondered if he acted like her that way; hiding emotions under the mask of smiles and helping others. Realizing she was getting off track, she paid more attention to what was going on around her.

Nel shook his head. "No, ma'am you said nothing funny," he replied, lips pressed together to stifle a laugh. He squeezed lightly on her hand, which was incredibly soft. It was odd, most girls had calloused hands from hours of work around this area, but Cae never looked like she was affected by it. It was like she just vanished and didn't do any work, but always managed to be around.Neliet dismissed this thought, seeing as it was impossible. Cae was just like all the girls here, but different. She was innocent, fragile like a like a fine china. He'd thought about this often, and after speaking with his mother, it was important that he, well, protect her.
Narrowing her eyes at the older boy, she stuck out her tongue in a childlike manner before laughing at his facial expression.
Nel rolled his eyes, chuckling. "Hey, it's very unladylike to stick out your tongue at people," he teased, tscking softly.
"I know," Cora grinned. "But that doesn't stop me from doing it."
"Doesn't mean you should either," Nel retorted, "What would your husband do when after he's married you and stick your tongue out at him, huh?"
Knitting her eyebrows together in confusion, Cora spoke. "Am I supposed to know the answer to that question? Because I don't."
"You're supposed to speculate on it," Nel replied, "You have to think about it." He tapped her nose lightly. "No sticking out tongues."
Cora pouted, giving up on finding the answer. It's not like she cared anyway. "Okay, I won't. You happy?"
"Yes, indeed I am," Nel responded, grinning. They made their way over to the food line, currently only three people long excluding the two of them. "I would get bread with this batch of gruel; Cookie's been sprinkling stuff in all day."((Night!))
((G'night!))
"Okay." Cora internally flinched at the look of the food. She didn't want to sound spoiled, but she had never touched anything close to this. No wonder Nel had given her a weird look when she said she would eat the gruel.

Nel glanced down at her as they advanced in the line. When they had reached the front, Neliet grabbed two bowls and held them up to be filled. Cook grunted a dismissal, and they stepped aside.
Quietly Cora whispered to Nel as not to disturb the cook. "Does he always look like he's in a bad mood?"
"Yes, he does," Neliet replied, grabbing a loaf of bread to split with her. He broke a small portion for himself, and gave the rest to her. "Makes it taste less bland."
"Thanks," she offered a small smile as she took the bread from Nel's hand.
Neliet watched her curiously, leaning against a wall to eat his food at the same time. He dipped his bread in first, eating off of it like spoon. By the time the bread was gone, he resorted to letting the gruel slide down his throat as he tipped the bowl down to his mouth.
After the first bite, Cora was surprised how difficult it was to try and eat the gruel. She immitated Nel with how he was using the bread as a spoon. Looking up, she noticed he was watching her. "What? Do I have something on my face?"
Neliet shook his head, brows raised slightly. "Nope," he replied. She looked like she was eating this for the first time, and it rose a few questions for him. He, of course, didn't voice any of this.
Nervously, she ate the rest of her food and smiled at Nel when she was done.
Nel held out his hand to take her bowl, expression expectant. He pursed his lips, glancing over at the nearest sundial for the time. His break would be over shortly, and he'd have to get back to work.
Setting the bowl gently in his hand, Cora peered around Nel to see what he was looking at. "Is your break done soon?" she asked curiously.
"Yeah, gonna have to get back to work," Nel responded, walking over to the bench to set their bowls down, "We'll have to catch up later on."
((I'm sort of confused with the catch up later part. Do you mean later after his work or later as in a different day, so him saying she should leave?))
"Okay," Cora nodded. "Do you want me to stick around for company?"
"Okay," Cora nodded. "Do you want me to stick around for company?"
((Later after work))Nel shook his head. "Nah, don't want to hold you up from your work," he said. If she even did work, she didn't always wear the same clothing, which was hard to do in this area. Maybe she made her own?
Cora smiled even though the loneliness was beginning to creep back. Good grief, she felt pathetic. "Okay. I'll see you around then?" She started heading for the stable door, turning back around to offer a small wave.
"Yep," Nel replied, "I'll see you later." He grinned, kissing her forehead and patting her head. "Don't get into trouble." He walked back to the stables, hands in his pockets.
Blushing slightly in shock from Nel's action, Cora turned again to face the door and exited as quietly as she could. Did he do that to anyone? Was that a normal way to say goodbye? Shaking her head as the door closed behind her, she walked into the unknowing future and away from certain friendship. It was time she made it back home before she was found out.
Eth had managed to return her skirts to normal and put everything in its proper place. Shooing the robin that she had brought back to life a few years ago toward the forest. "Miss Cora," she exclaimed after finding that Nel wasn't around. "We need to return home. I finished your dress--" Actually, she had finished it the day previous-- "And your father requires your presence along with your, er, siblings."
"Oh." Cora sighed, she did not want to be near that dreadful man. "I guess we should hurry then."
Eth nodded and held out a hand. "Come now; we don't need you getting into more trouble." A playful smile curled her lips.
Cora pouted like a young child after being scolded. "Yes mother..." she teased.
((Off to the courtyard or in the tower?))
Cora grinned at Eth. "Well, we best get going along so I will stay out of trouble. Shall we go?"
Cora grinned at Eth. "Well, we best get going along so I will stay out of trouble. Shall we go?"
((See you there!))
"Unfortunately we must." Cora pulled a face that was most unladylike for a woman of proper standing and any girl in general.
