So what are everyone's favorite movies, if you're a movie buff? They do not have to be interracial. I'll post a lot of mine soon.

Wow, Eugenia. We were meant to be friends. You are a movie buff for sure. You ever thought about doing a movie blog? I have one but I don't post as much as I should.

You're tough, Eugenia. Gangster movies and serial killer movies I give a seriously wide berth. I don't like disturbing movies. I take them to heart and can't forget about the images in the movies for my life.

The only war movies I like are 300, Tears of the Sun, Black Hawk Down, King Arthur (sort of), and Gladiator. I might be forgetting a few in there. I loved Glory but I don't care to watch it again. It was so sad.

I love period movies, even the ones that are on the bloody side.

I cannot stand gangsters. I am a bit fascinated with the Russian Mafia and the Yakuza. But the Italian Mob really gets my goat. I love how Ness sticks it to them in The Untouchables.

Danielle, I have a movie blog. I haven't posted anything to it yet. I have been meaning to post to it, a couple of months ago, when The Good Son came on. I'll have to play catch up.

1. Better Off Dead
2. Weird Science
3. The Goonies
4. Indian Jones and The Temple of Doom

The Painted Veil. Oh, how I adore that movie. I would love to have both Ed Norton and Liev Schrieber.
Now, American History X was not my cup of tea. I'm not into the whole Neo-Nazi thing, but it is a good redemption story.

Persuasion is definitely a favorite of mine. I love that recent BBC version with Sally Hawkins. Oh, I love just about all of Jane Austen's works. I think Pride and Prejudice the best. I am caught between Matthew Macfaden and Colin Firth as to which Mr. Darcy is my favorite.

message 14: by PT (new)

PT (spinsterpt) | 319 comments Arch, I used to watch The Goonies every day when I got home from school as a kid. My family was SICK of it and finally hid it from me after a month or so.

Imitiation of Life was my college roommates favorite movie, along with The Princess Bride, and we had to watch them every weekend. I could quote them both back it my college days.

I must say that I like a lot of movies on everyone else's list. Especially, Flirting. I like that's my all-time favorite interracial movie.

Here's a few of my other favorites:
Rushmore
The Princess Bride
Dogfight
Little Mermaid
Beauty and the Beast
Meet the Robinsons (Disney is very good)
Flirting
My Life as a Dog
Yours, Mine, and Ours
Mame
Mohabbatein
Lagaan
Strictly Ballroom
Sleepless in Seattle
You've Got Mail
Anything with Doris Day
Trekkies
Rmy and Michelle's High School Reunion
10 Things I Hate about You
Steel Magnolias
A Christmas Story
It's a Wonderful Life
The Philadelphia Story
Hello Dolly
7 Brides for Seven Brothers
Annie Get your Gun
Anything with Audrey Hepburn
Life as a House
Amelie
Anne of Green Gables
The Castle
The Parent Trap
The Lake House
Momento
Thoroughly Modern Millie

Goodness, I could go on forever. I'd better stop there.

new_user I couldn't stand McFayden as Darcy; I thought he made him too sensitive, but yeah, I loved the new Persuasion. N&S is my favorite, more romantic than Austen's works, imo. I love Edward Norton, I'll pretty much see anything with him in it, LOL. American History X was about him getting away from Neo-Nazism, LOL. Princess Bride is awesome, LOL. Cracks me up.

I know he was getting away from the NeoNazis, but it was disturbing to see him with them at the beginning. Just goes to show what an awesome actor he is.

Don't be hating on MacFadyen (how the heck is his name spelled anyway?) as Darcy. I liked the sensitive version.

Hehe yeah it was an indie movie a few years back with Johnny Depp and Juliet Binoche. This small town was rather conserative until a woman and her child opens up a chocolate shop there and livens things up with her confections. Was a pretty cute and sweet movie.

Oops I may have spelled it wrong though, official title is Chocolat, for the french version I imagine.
