Yz the Whyz (whyz) | 9327 comments Time to walk on the wild side.

Let us showcase our exotic, furry heroes, whether they walk on four paws or two feet. Which two-natured male makes you want to howl to the moon or unleash your animal instincts.

Good ahead and share your favorite beastie.

Sarah | 367 comments Oh, definitely Jason and Nathaniel from the Anita Blake world.

And Sam is a sweetheart in Sookie Stackhouse's world.

Nichole (DirrtyH) (dirtyh) I don't know if I can think of any specific characters off the top of my head, but I will say that I far prefer cats to wolves.
There's something about a predatory cat that is just sexy. Lithe, sneaky... they're more graceful and elegant and they have more mystery and charm.

Lucas from the Psy-Changeling books springs to mind. (I haven't read the rest of the series yet.) Oh, and Curran from the Kate Daniels series. Meow.

DarkHeart "Vehngeance" (darkheart) I agree whole heartedly with each of Shazzy's choices!

Danielle (ielfling) I'd have to add my vote for Jason from the Anita Blake books, too! Funny/sexy works for me every time, and he's a nice foil for the more intense, brooding alphas in the books. Plus, peekaboo trousers :)

message 6: by Lori (new)

Lori (moderatrixlori) Oh yea...any of the furries in the Anita Blake series.

Nikolas, a werewolf from the Soul Mates books is bad ass and borders on sadistic but he's got a softer side that you just can't help but fall for when he lets down his walls.

JenMcJ I was tweeting with Jourdan Lane not too long ago and the subject of the Rock (Dwayne Johnson) came up. I mentioned that I would push the Rock out of the way to get to Keith Hamilton Cobb and she told me that she created Nikolas with Keith Hamilton Cobb in mind. YUM!

I don't know how to add a picture or I would add one. :)

new_user Well, shifters are my favorite so I have long list, LOL. With the type of shifter in parentheses:

Kelley Armstrong (w)
Patricia Briggs (w)
Nalini Singh (c)
Autumn Dawn (w)
Shana Abe (dragon)
Christina Dodd (all)
Susan Krinard (hit and miss)
Cynthia Eden (w)
Vickie Taylor (gargoyles)
Alice Borchardt (w)

Ann aka Iftcan (iftcan) hum, does scaled count? If so, Mayland Long from "Tea With the Black Dragon"

Tea With the Black Dragon by R.A. MacAvoy

I also have a soft spot for Samuel in the Mercy books by Patricia Briggs.

He's incredibly hot but I didn't picture Nikolas as a black guy. Is he described that way in the books? If so, which book? Now I can't picture him looking like anyone else!

How lucky are you that you get to twitter with Jourdan. Any idea when the next Soul Mates book will come out? I just finished the fourth and I'm already depressed.

message 11: by JenMcJ (last edited Apr 14, 2009 05:18AM) (new)

JenMcJ LOL, I know. I didn't picture him exactly like that either, but totally do now. I don't know if she meant that skin color or more the overall body type and strong face and long dreads. Doesn't matter since it is in my head that way now and totally works for me.

I think she said the next one is due out in the fall but I will ask again next time I see her on twitter.

As for tweeting...well, I was just pushy and decided to follow many of my fav authors. reviewers and publishers. And then I just sorta butted in and started talking to them. You can be a author twitter stalker too. :)

Lots of our fav m/m authors are on twitter and most of the publishers put out info too.

I am JenMcJ on twitter also.

JenMcJ Okay, J Lane says that she only has chapter 1 done on SM #5 but plans to work on that as soon as she is done with current WIP novella. She estimates #5 out around Oct or November.

message 13: by Lori (new)

Lori (moderatrixlori) Thanks for the update Jen. I'm not sure I can wait that long! I'll have to read them all again :)

message 14: by tosca (new)

tosca (catatonichataholic) | 742 comments I have LOTS of favourites! 3 (yes, I'm greedy) that come to mind are: Zach Sheridan from Pack Challenge by Shelly Laurenston (Book 1 in the Magnus series); Conall Viga-Feilan from Go Fetch! also by Shelly Laurenston (Book 2 in the Magnus series) and Nikolai Vorislav the shapeshifting tiger from Here Kitty, Kitty! once again by Shelly Laurenston (Book 3 in the Magnus series). I've got others that will come to me over time but I'll restrain from listing them all :)

I agree. Shelly Laurenston creates fabulous characters (so funny!!!), but her women are usually more... visible than men - especially in Magnus series. In Pride series (lots of felines, lots of wolves) that is reversed - there are still strong, confident women Shelly Laurenston likes so much but there is more attention laid on men.

tosca (catatonichataholic) | 742 comments I absolutely agree with you there that the focus of Laurenston's books are the women. And aren't they hilarious and kick arse ;) And more than a little insane. The sex is frank (and often heh) and the men get more funny with every chapter.

message 17: by JenMcJ (new)

JenMcJ I agree. Shelly Laurenston is a great writer and I love all of her characters.

Jael ~ *~ Syhren ~* ~ (wwwgoodreadscomprofilejael) IA with Laurenston. I loved Conall and Micki's book the best when he flipped the bed over and Got Micki up on that wall.I was fanning myself. The Beastlord from Ilona Andrews Kate Daniels series is pretty hot.

Never heard of any of these writers. Off to check them out right now. You're a fount of info Tosca!

Edited to add: Oh right it's all the one writer. Aaaand my library doesn't have her, what a surprise. Sigh. Another one on the Fishpond wishlist.

tosca (catatonichataholic) | 742 comments Since joining this group my wishlist has grown. Out of control LOL My public library doesn't buy a lot of what I read (stuff that makes ya blush heh) I've become a very big fan of ebooks :) Yep they cost but I've managed to get a hold of stuff I could never get at the lib (esp the stuff I buy to feed my m/m and were/vamp/shifter addiction). Do you get into ebooks at all?

I've gotta add Vaughn D'Angelo from Visions of Heat by Nalini Singh to this list - shapeshifting emotional Jaguar *sigh* who falls for the F-Psy seer Faith NightStar.

Adrik Wilder from Into The Shadow by Christina Dodd, a shapeshifting panther who abandoned his family to lead a life of wickedness (which, apparently, includes seducing women in tents halfway up mountain sides heh let's hear it for evil!).

Ooh and Adam from Briggs' Mercy Thompson books AND Charles from Briggs' Alpha & Omega series.

Oh Vaughn, yes definitely, he was off the scale yummy.

I can't do ebooks, have a terrible dry eye prob that means extended monitor time is a no-no. I have to admit they sound tempting though, especially how immediate they are (instead of waiting up to three weeks for delivery! argh). Oh and a big yes to Charles too, I actually defied the no-ebook rule for him and bought the companion novella to Cry Wolf. So worth it, hehe.

message 22: by new_user (new)

new_user Totally agree, tosca, LOL. Arik just didn't take no for an answer, LOL.
