"No. Others are. Me and you are nice cause we did not grow up in the forest, hunting down humans." Lena says placing a hammer in place.
"Ah." Josh, still not losing the frown, nodded once and then gingerly set the blade onto the shop counter. He was 'nice' because he hadn't grown up in the woods? All he could think of were the poor kids who had grown up in two worlds, without a choice like him. He glanced at Lena when she wasn't looking, the turned to rub his finger across the hilt of the sword. She had been a werewolf for pretty much her entire life, he knew. But she could change whenever she wanted - she never had to be a wolf if she didn't want to. Him on the other hand... As far as he knew, he had to change every night, Hell or high water. Did that mean his personality would change eventually? Over years? There was no getting out of it, and that was what scared him. Already he had developed some kind of wolfish side, catching himself growling or other things.
"The one that keeps attacking us." Lena says and opens her gun cabinet taking out a revolver, a buoy knife and replaces her old buoy knife in her knife sling with the new. She takes out a few wood stake. She also grabs teo silver sword and throws on a trench coat that drags on the ground to cover up her weapons.
"Chose some weapons if you want to come."
"Chose some weapons if you want to come."
"I don't..." Josh hesitated, not for the first time. However, he hesitated for a different reason this time. "I b-better not take anything," He reasoned. "If I do you'll just end up having to c-carry it in a couple hours." True, it was already afternoon, and Lena looked as if anything more to carry would just be a bother to her. "I don't need anything."
"Im strong enough. Now go ahead and take a couple." Lena insists. It feels like nothing is on her now and she can go fast while having a lot of stuff on her back.
Josh made a face and looked over at the wall of weapons. "Don't you need a p-permit or something for these things?" He murmered, taking a short sword and nothing else. It was probably the only thing there he could use.
He raised an eyebrow and looked over at her, pausing as he took the weapon from the shelf. "Uhm," He frowned and nodded, using a thingy me bobber to hook the jigger onto his belt. "Yeah, I guess. Do you hunt these thing a... alot?"
"No but safety first. Who knows when te apocalypse is going to happen." Lena laughs taking another pocket knife.
Lena shakes her head and laughs. Then she says this seriously. "Ok first we will follow its scent."
Josh slowly shook his head. "N-No, I can't." He said quietly. "But I'll be able to h-help later..."
Josh snorted slightly and made a face, following her into the woods. He did NOT consider himself 'handy'.
Lena's trench coat drag over the ground but does not make a sound. She catches the scent of a pack of werewolves. "Werewolves at three o clock." Lena points to his new sword tellin him to get is ready. Lena pulls out a silver sword.
Funny enough, his first thought was it's not three o'clock... But when she gestured to his sword he awkwardly pulled it out, 'getting ready'. "Kay," He said quietly, beginning to shiver in the dwindling light of day. He would try and hold it back as long as possible.
Lena howls making the werewolves come to her. She pulls out two silver swords at the same and twirls them in her hands. "Come out come out where ever you are." Lena says creepily and rolls her head to crack it showing she was ready for the fight to begin.
Josh stared at her with wide eyes, unsure now if this was the best decision he could have made. Nevertheless he stood next to her, figuring that if he hadn't stood a chance against the werewolves before, he certainly did now.
A werewolf jumps from behind. Lena turns quickly and while the wolf was in midair she stabs it in the heart. His fur starts to burn sizzling away as he burned to death. A werewolf jumps on Josh nocking him over.
Somehow taken almost totally by surprise, Josh felt heavily onto his back. This... This was awful like... He started to panic, trauma shocking his mind. He twisted and struggled, kicking at the werewolf as hard as he could. He felt the hilt of his short sword in his hand, and, not allowing himself to think about it, jabbed it into the side of the werewolf, pushing it off of him so he could roll away in time to see it burn. He shuddered, feeling nauseous.
Two jump at Lena on different sides. She jumps into the air. She lands on a branch confusing them. Lena jumps down stabbing them. Still hanging onto the swords she lands between them with her head down. She rips the two swords out of their burning bodys.
Josh shivered, feeling the shadows lengthen and engulf him. "L-Lena..." He gulped, feeling his gut twist sickeningly. A werewolf leaped at him from behind and pinned him to the ground, beginning to rip at his back, shredding his shirt. His weapon skidded across the grass and out of reach, but it didn't matter. The sun was totally gone from the sky, replaced by the moon. Josh couldn't move, too ready to shift to fight back.
He wasn't the same as Lena. His transformations took time, were debilitating. Josh's bones seemed to lock, staying in one place. Slowly, despite being mutilated, he shifted. The transformation was so violent it nearly knocked the werewolf off of him, but not quite. His skin tore from both claws and shift, until he was on four unsturdy legs.
Lena stabs one of the wolves that leaped at her. One pushed her down. Lena losing her only Silver swords and her arms were pinned down. The other wolf comes up licking his jaws. He lowers his head to Lena's arm opening his jaws. "Go one i dare you." Lena growls at the wolf that is about to bite her arm off.
The wolf who, surprisingly, hadn't been shaken by Josh's transformation kept at him. The creature bit and clawed at him, drawing more blood in a animalistic frenzy. Then Josh snarled. It wasn't something you expected to hear from a nearly defeated animal, and it wasn't something you would ever expect to hear from Josh - night or day. It made the wolf pause, listening as the sound rumbled an aftershock in his throat. Most likely, the wolf was startled to have his victim come at him violently so sudden. Twisting around sharply, Josh turned the tables. In a matter of moments the creature was on his back, submitting.
Lena closes her eyes waiting for the pain of the bite. She was not scared or shaken. She lets her body go limp.
He let himself scan for Lena after the wolf had been 'dispatched'. Josh's ears swivled around and tuned into the battle, listening for one distinct sound; something to tell him where - and then he caught it. The sound of her breathing. But it was wrong, it wasn't as confident or regular as he was used to. It was sharp and otherwise startlingly calm. That was the concerning part. Then he saw her, and the wolf. His hackles, if they hadn't been up already, stood on end as he dashed over. Not even taking time to give a warning growl, Josh tackled the wolf, pushing it away from Lena and onto the ground to engage it in another activity... Trying to rip his throat out.
Lena feels the wait off her body. She leaps up and quickly grabs Josh's sword. She throws it. It would not hurt josh badly if it hit him. She does not know which wolf she hit.
It glanced him something bad. The sword made it's way through the side of Josh's shoulder and then buried itself into the wolf below him - staking it to the ground by the throat. Josh let out a low whistling cry and staggered back, a colorful rose of red blossoming on his shoulder. It wouldn't kill him like normal silver would, but it certainly hurt like hell.
Lena runs over. "Take these." She bark commands holding her hand out with some ibuprofen. With her other hand she wraps up Josh's shoulder.
Josh understood her words, but just stared at the medicine stupidly. Pills... What were pills again? What... What were those? He shook his head, trying to think straight. Something must have gotten knocked out of place... Mind shutting down and letting his human side die for survival upon sheer instinct? Josh felt her fingers in his coat and he shied away, hackles slowly raising as he let out a low growl. Maybe.
Lena did not want to force the pills down but she had to, to make the pain go away. Lena runs at him and jumps onto his back and lifts up his muzzle. She quickly drops the pills in and wraps her hands around his muzzle keeping it shut until he swallows the pills.
Josh fought her. He writhed and he growled, struggling in her strong grip. He did not want to - then it was over. Suddenly the pill was gone and he went limp. It was just ibuprofen, but it was as if he had suddenly calmed down and given up. He laid there beneath her, blinking up at her with brown eyes as he slowly stressed. This wasn't right, he shouldn't be here... So why wasn't he attacking her? His front leg pounded, throbbing with pain that shot around his body, pushing more blood out of his shoulder and into the bandage Lena had given him. The medicine would take a while to kick in... Half an hour at most. He whined, beginning to struggle again beneath her grip.
Lena lets go of her grip slowly and gets off. She searches the ground for their swords. Lena found all of them and puts them in her coat.
Immediately Josh scrambled away, as far as his leg would let him. Which, in reality, was maybe twenty yards? He was bleary eyed, struggling to keep his wounded limb up - although it was a lot easier if you had three other legs to support you. He watched the girl warily as she walked around gathering the shiny sticks.
"Calm down!" Lena growls. "Lay down and rest before you lose a lot of blood!" Lena commands making herself look like the Alpha.
