Lena sniffs the air smelling Josh, she starts to wag her tail and runs up a tree to see if he was coming.

Josh picked his way through the backyard, still cluttered with boxes the moving van had been ordered to leave outside. He paused at the edge of the woods, and glanced back to make sure the light in his father's room was still out.

Lena saw that he hesitated, so she howled a low pitched howl again. Lena jumps down the tree and walks to the edge of the forest

Josh turned at the sound of her howl and tensed as he watched a wolf walk out of the woods. He was pretty sure it was Lena... But then again... He had never seen her in her wolf form. He backed up nervously.

Lena shifts quickly. "Hey are you just goin' to just stand there or what?!" Lena hollers signaling for him to come with her hand. Lena turns and climbs up a tree swinging her legs back and forth waiting for him.

He immediately relaxed. "I'm coming." Josh followed into the woods and climbed up the tree after her.

"Well how is father?" Lena asks wondering if his dad was ticked.

"Sleeping." Josh answered evasively. "Screaming wears him out." He added, feeling he could tell her after all.

"How can you live with a bitch like him?" Lena asks hanging upside down, a little bored. Then falls but in mid air she shifts into a wolf and lands gracefully, and shifts back into a human and runs up the tree back to the branch.

Josh watched her with incredible interest, it was amazing. "I have to. He's my family." He said quietly, sadness hidden in shadows behind his words.

"True,true but doesn't he get annoying after awhile?" Lena asks and sees that he was interested in what she just did. "Im fine i always do that, mainly when im bored." Lena laughs and climbs up the tree farther. She climbs up a branch then jumps to a branch on a different tree and leaps on the branch that Josh was sitting on.

Josh shrugged. "Yeah. Annoying is one word for it." Hurtful was another. He watched her jump some more. "Are you alone? I mean, is your family like that too? Werewolves?" He moved over a little to make room for her.

"Well i have foster parents that don't care about me and my real parents are normal wolves which i wish to meet." Lena says as she sits down swinging her legs again. Lena looks at a branch 3 yards away. There sat a ugly sea gull. Lena shifts into her pure white wolf form leaps at it killing it with one bite then tosses on the ground. Then Lena shifts into a human and jumps back to Josh. "You might want to hide." Lena signals to branches a little higher. There was a few wolf barks come from bellow.

Josh frowned. "What did you do?" He asked as he grabbed a hold of the thick limb above him and crawled up.

"Oh i just called some of my friends over." Lena smiles evilly and shifts into a wolf and jumps down and lands on ones back, biting down on its neck.

Josh huddled on his branch, trying to keep his balance.

Lena leaves a cut but not a deep one. Lena leaps off that wolves back to another's and bites its hind leg. The wolf limps off yelping.


After awhile Lena injured all of them and they ran off. Lena climbs up the tree next to Josh and wipes her mouth on her sleeve.

As Lena jumped up onto his branch, Josh scrambled back down the limb as far as he could go. "Wh... What was that?" He whispered, pale as a sheet.

"They need to ask first before they eat my prey that i caught." Lena says then does a clawing motion to him and bearing her teeth "Rrrhh" Lena makes a noise.

Josh just stared at her, seeming like prey trapped up in a tree under the moonlght. "... You're the strangest person I've ever met." He decided, voice hushed.

"Ya, but those wolves were the ones with rabies. So i taught them a lesson. And i told them not to hurt me or you." Lena says with no expression

Josh still didn't move. He was used to being so protective of himself, always hiding, always running. He had felt at ease around Lena, she was one of the only people in his entire life he had trusted so quickly. Strange, considering she was a wolf. His paranoia kicked in, and suddenly Josh felt suffocated with panic. His breath stiffened, along with every fibre of his body. "Lena," He said carefully. "I'd like to come down now."

Lena looks worried so she climbs down the tree waiting for Josh.

Josh climbed down and set his feet onto the ground softly, turning to look at Lena with an unreadable expression. Then his hands shot up and clamped themselves onto the back of his head, pulling it down so he would have been staring at the grass if his eyes hadn't been so tightly closed. It was what he did when he was frustrated, or confused. He made a sound, like a soft moan, in his throat. "What am I doing here?" It sounded as if he was asking himself more than he was Lena.

Lena looks at Josh then turns to run to her house, thinking that Josh might not like her any more.

When Josh looked up, she was gone. He blinked into the darkness of the forest after her, but saw nothing. He sighed deeply, looking around to try and find his bearings so he could get home himself.

A growl comes from a bush behind Josh.

He froze, breath catching in his throat. Josh slowly twisted himself around so he could look into the dark behind him. Then, just as slowly, he began to walk away, trying to get out and away. He was ready to get back to bed now, God. He got the point, and when he got home, he promised he wouldn't hurt himself anymore.

A wolf jumps out of the bushes and cuts his leg ripping a huge hole in his jeans and blood gushes out

Of course, he couldn't stand after that. Josh cried out as the pain seared through him, and fell onto the forest floor. He flipped onto his back, and his stomach clenched when he realized it was a wolf. He kicked it hard in the snout with his good foot and used his elbows to try and scramble away.

The wolf sneezes. It growls angrily and bites him in the leg.

Lena hears a fight and Josh screaming so she dashes out of her house, shifts and attacks it, blood gushing out of its neck as it falls to the ground. Lena's white pelt stained with blood

Stars floated in and out of his vision, and his leg throbbed horrifically. It pained whenever he moved, feeling as if someone was twisting a knife in his skin at every small jerk. He pulled himself just out of the way as Lena attacked, jumping hard but was overly relieved to see her.

Lena shifts into a human and slings Josh over her shoulder like a sack of potatoes.

Josh stiffled a painful moan as she moved him, and had to swallow some major pride at the same time. "Lena..." He began, gulping hard as he comtemplated fainting. "I..." Then he passed out.

Lena carries him the the hospital, gently not hurting him. On the way there Lena is wondering what Josh was trying to tell her before he passed out. Lena opens the hospital doors with the side of her body and sets Josh down on a stretcher thing when the doctors see him.
