Waiting for a call from the library to tell me this book is ready for me to pick up!! Put in my request 2 weeks ago. Looking forward to reading this!!
Bondama...true...but he looks great in a pair of leopaard sling backs....can't we all just love one another?
Yes, Scott.... we'll just have to all get along.... after all, we're definitely united in the church of Stephen King! (no blasphemy intended)
Hello Everyone,Long time since I've been here. I am going to start reading NOS4A2 either today no later than tomorrow
I am going to listen to the audio of this starting Monday on a road trip!! It looks like it is 19 hours so that is perfect. I should finish it on my trip .. there and back!
Love love loved this book. The main bad guy and his helper have a great backstory and are so vivid throughout the book. The "children" in Christmasland are so creepy but in a totally awesome way. Highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a great and skin tingling read. I enjoyed the villains more than the hero though. I definitely felt Hill's dad, SK, in this read because of how interesting the villains are. I always love the main characters but LOVE the bad guys in SKs works. Great job Hill.

I think that Kate Mulgrew did a fantastic job of capturing not only the character of Vic McQueen, but of Charlie Manx as well. Really great job!
I just started reading this book. I am about 10% into the book and I am hooked. I dont want my commuten to and from work to end.Right now I am getting the background on Victoria, Bing, and the dude in the Rolls ( aka Nosferatu)
I am enjoying it. This book IMO has the feel of 3 Stephen King's books - Hearts of Atlantis, It, and 11/22/63. Not to compare the two. But I can't help it. There are similar themes expressed in this book.
Out of those three I've only read It and I can see what you mean. I've been meaning to read Hearts in Atlantis... now I have an extra incentive :)
It's been a few weeks since I read...and I still think about parts of it. And I don't think I want gingerbread anymore.
I liked all three even though Hearts of Atlantis was a little weird. This book reads so smooth like the Wraith portrayed in the story. You don't realize the time or the amount read. That's what makes a book excellent.
Veronica, I completely agree. It reads like Hill has been writing for 100 years and has perfected his craft.
$30 is pricey! But, hell, even $11 is a lot more than you'd pay at your local library! Why not give that a go?
Veronica wrote: "Ok. I'm 30% in to the book. It's like a roller coaster ride. [spoilers removed]."That's when I started feeling like I was reading an SK book from the 80s or 90s and it was AWESOME!
I hope you enjoy the rest! I know I sure did. There is definitely room for Joe Hill to grow as a writer, but it's easy to tell he learned some of the best tricks from one of my favorites :)
Chris: My library doesn't have a copy! :( I need to find my kindle so I can just by the e-book version.
I just got this one from the library and just started it. So far, it's really interesting. (view spoiler)
I read this a few weeks ago and absolutely loved it.I'm now reading Heart-Shaped Box,so far so good, but NOS seems better
I read N0S4A2 a month ago, really enjoyed it. So far I'm loving all of Joe Hill's work, Heart-shaped Box was really good too, but my favorites are definitely Horns and 20th Century Ghosts. Awesome stuff. His comic, "Locke & Key" is also a lot of fun.
Joe Hill gets better with each book. I'm really looking forward to many many great and greater books to come.
I am halfway through the book. So far I am liking the story, but not loving it. Its dragging for me a little. (view spoiler)I have the book on my Nook. But the hardcover is worth buying. The print, the paper its written on, the illustrations is draw in for me.
wow...after finishing this, I'm upset it's an overdue library book. I definitely need to buy a copy and will probably try his other books, too.
I'm 23% in and really enjoying it. It's kind of scary, disturbing and suspenseful - just what I like.
Chris wrote: "$30 is pricey! But, hell, even $11 is a lot more than you'd pay at your local library! Why not give that a go?"Didn't like the price either. Got it from my local library, but my have to pick it up some for my collection. I'm loving it. Just about half through. Hoping to finish it tonight.
B&N is selling it for $20.00 for the hardcover. I personally think its worth it. The paper and the type used in the book you wont find by others. IMO that's a book you put on your bookshelf.

If I want to own it, I add it to my wishlist and get them for my birthday, anniversary or Christmas. Christmas would be a very appropriate time to get this one. =)
I loved this book. He reminded me so much of his dad in it but yet he had his own voice. The story took me away and I finished it in two days.
I thought this was the most "SK" of Joe's books. The key player experiencing magic as a child, the surreal villain, the magic car and the parent's quest to rescue their child all reminded me of "SK." The first time one of Joe's books did that for me.

Makes sense.
I'm 200 pages into NOS4A2 and cannot put it down. Such an original story! What I really love about Joe Hill is how versatile of a writer he is - from his short stories ("Pop Art" is nothing short of art), to the novels, to his comics... He's really growing into one of my favorite authors. Even his official website and tumblr account make for interesting reads. Looking forward to what he has in store in the future.
I thought NOS4A2 was amazing. I absolutely loved it! I highly recommend 20th Century Ghosts - a collection of short stories- too. FOR THOSE READING ON KINDLE - The "Note About Type" is not included (presumably because it has to do with the font used in the printed version), however, it includes an additional coda to the book (or bonus chapter).
I feel it is a huge injustice that the publishers left it out of the Kindle version.
**Sometimes it will show up in the "Look Inside" feature on Amazon's website and you can read it there.**
I thought it was a great read. A solid story...great characterizations and some great details...the Wraith...the Ornaments...even the puzzle books with the robots.
Started this morning, 60 pages in and it has really captured my interest. I'm really a fan of Joe Hill's humor!
I'm about 100 pages in now, and it's got me hooked! But I know how you feel, I'm about 5 months into Carrion Comfort and just more than halfway through
I liked Carrion Comfort for the most part. My problem with it was it just was too long. Several parts seemed unnecessary, and at the end it kind of dragged for me.
Kathryn wrote: "I liked Carrion Comfort for the most part. My problem with it was it just was too long. It is way too long and much of the text is just repeating things that already happened over and over ... This book could have been 400 pages and told the same story ...
Any one hear about the "WRAITH" Comic/Graphic Novel??? It was on the blog but I can't find a Pre-Order on Amazon....
Anyone know any details?!?!?!?
I absolutely LOVED this book when I read it earlier this past spring, and recently for some unknown reason I just started thinking about it again, more and more....so I finally broke down and got my audio book back out - I haven't gotten to physically read the book, so I'm asking for the paperback for Christmas, but I was just doing some research about it online and found that there are some editions that came with a previously unpublished novella included titled "Wraith," and an alternate ending? I can't find any info about either of these so I thought I'd ask around, does anyone have an edition that includes either of these missing pieces? If so, could you tell me what happens? I don't mind spoilers, I wanna know what the alternate ending is! And what is this short novella about, I'm assuming the car, but is it like a mini-prequel or something? And did anyone hear about/see, or was lucky enough to be able to buy one of the limited lettered editions that came with that amazing-looking artwork and a autopsy-bone mallet included in the set??? that looked sooooooo crazy cool!
Oh, and hi, btw, this is the first group I've joined (being a life-long King fan, having grown up reading him, I naturally wanted to see what his son could do) on Goodreads, and this is my first post, haha
