We PROMOTE Fantasy/Sci-Fi Writers/Authors discussion
INTRODUCE YOURSELF
I've posted 10 reviews here and also have a YA novella, BARDS OF FANTASIA, in Kindle Countdown for $2.99 Aug 3-10. No sequels yet, and it's a standalone read. My Listopia CELTIC list shows some of its genre influences (and it's on 2 other lists too): https://www.goodreads.com/list/book/3...
I'm Joseph Malik. My debut novel is Dragon's Trail. It's an epic fantasy technothriller, and the first in a series. I consider myself a "method writer," which is more or less akin to a method actor. Whenever possible, I've done my worldbuilding research firsthand. I've learned swordsmanship, horsemanship, blacksmithing, archery, and wilderness survival; I've paced off castles and ruins; and built a fully functional conlang. I've been a panelist on military strategy, worldbuilding, and combat demonstrations at Norwescon for the past few years.
With Dragon's Trail and the series to follow, I wanted to build a fantasy world that did for swords and mail what Michael Crichton did for viruses and dinosaurs. I wanted a series where nothing was hand-waved at the mundane level. Day-to-day realism, I felt, would allow greater suspension of disbelief when I introduced the magical elements.
I may have overdone it, as I now have readers contacting me to ask where the portal is, apparently convinced that my military experience involved being part of a Black Ops program exploring alternate dimensions. No joke; I get pictures of collected armor and swords and messages offering to come with me the next time I go.
The sequel should be out early next year. We'll just see where things go.

About Me:
Joseph Malik has worked as a stuntman, a high-rise window washer, a freelance writer, a computational linguist, a touring rock musician, and a soldier in the United States Special Operations Command. His hobbies include boxing, fencing, historic European martial arts, traditional archery, and linguistics.
A veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom, he lives in the Pacific Northwest along with his wife and their two dogs, and currently serves in the Army Reserve.

Hi everyone! My name is Jarrod Cline and I am the author of Cherokee Steam from Outlaws Publishing. It is Western Steampunk and Historical Fiction, based on the events leading up to the Trail of Tears. Below is the link to the digital edition. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074CGPZTH/...
Sarah's DOWREEGreetings. This is my first full length novel, it took four years. I think fans of sci-fi in the vein of Vonnegut/Le Guin would dig it. Less hard sci-fi (although there is some of that) more use of sci-fi to make social commentary.
It'll be free for download on Amazon Kindle starting on Aug31 through Sept 5th (except for Saturday). I just found this group and would love for any members to take a look and leave feedback.
Cheers!

Hi AdelekeWelcome to the self publishing world!
I've had a quick glance at the start of your novel (on Amazon). You might want to have a look at the formating? Most of the paragraphs aren't showing an indent.

Thanks for the welcome. And I see what you mean about the indents. I'll look into it.

Hi, I recently self-published a collection of SF stories based on ones I wrote and stashed in my desk long long ago. For ten years I had concentrated on a series of novels based on the history of upstate New York so these stories were a real departure. I like them myself but I need some input as to how clear they are. The title novela, “The Renegade Archaeologist,” is composed of various documents from 90,000 years in future, after global warming provokes an ice age and diverts human evolution in different directions. (Different forms of Christianity have also evolved) Not sure how well the different voices fit together. The second novela is about an anthropologist who faces opposition to his claim that a peaceful species resembling spider monkeys is truly part of the aggressive pananthropoid family that have spread across the galaxy. Then I have a story featuring an evangelical Christian dictatorship – which I originally wrote before Margaret Atwood’s “Handmaids Tale.” Then there’s a story inspired by Hopi myth and a story in the near future where climate change deniers run the show even after New York City is underwater. I posted a free PDF of the book for download at Lulu.com. http://www.lulu.com/spotlight/wildern...
I’d enjoy hearing reactions from anyone who does take a look it, and would be happy to return the favor with your work or work-in-progress. I’m at wildernesshill@gmail.com .
The book is also on Amazon in paper and kindle. Regards, Michael
Aye up folks, I'm Steve from Newark-on-Trent in the UK. I've come to writing late - I started my first novel this year - 2 days after my 47th circuit around the sun. I now have 2 titles available in The Gene Weavers Sequence:
I'm currently working on Gene Weavers Book 3, which needs a lot of plot tweaking for the middle section, and a sci-fi/horror/occult crossover which was my weekend project until a week or 2 ago when Book 3 had to be put to one side for cranial consideration!

Hello! I am a new author and I just published my very first book last week, and I am looking for reviews on it. If anyone has time to take a look at it, I would greatly appreciate it. It's $2.99 for a kindle book right now, but it is free for kindle unlimited. It can be found here:

Thank you so much!
ABOUT THE BOOK:
After the nuclear apocalypse of 2100, now referred to as the Great Fire, Oloris—the last habitable land in the world has become mankind’s last chance at survival. This topographical phenomenon is home to seven vastly different climates—a freezing tundra in the north, a dark murky swamp in the west, a vast mountain range in the south, a subtropical sand filled beach in the east, and at its center lays a sweltering desert, gentle rolling plains, and a bioluminescent tree filled forest. Once home to only a few hundred survivors of the Great Fire, Oloris is now entering its eight-hundredth year and is home to over a million citizens.
Separated into seven nations, and ruled by seven very different factions, the land is monitored by a group of magically enhanced individuals called the Seven. Through the time-honored tradition of passing their mantle to a younger counterpart from their home nation every thirty years, the Seven have ensured Oloris’s peace for nearly half a millennia—until now. A power-hungry queen in the north will stop at nothing until all of Oloris is hers to rule. She is gathering her forces, making allies and planning the Seven’s demise. Her thirst for power couldn’t have come at a worse time. The current Seven have reached the end of their service and must choose their successors. Now, the sanctity of Oloris will be entrusted to a group of individuals who most perceive as children—not warriors.
A blind orphan, a rich highborn, a slave, a gentle hunter, an enlightened blacksmith, a warrior, and a queen long thought dead—are thrust into a world of magic, power, and deception. Enemies are lurking in the shadows, allies are rallying their forces, and nations are struggling to choose sides in the coming war. Carefully navigating Oloris’s politically charged climate, these young protectors must learn not only their place in the world but how to save their world as they know it.
This omniscient third person point of view novel follows the story of this group of magical young adults in a post-apocalyptic world. This story will feature many diverse characters, highlighting friendship, family, relationships, race, and sexual orientation—all combined with a pro-feminist feel. Professionally copy-edited and at just over 135,000 words, The Seven will be the first novel in an expected series.
Fantasy literature has always played an important role in my life. Growing up surrounded by great literary works such as Harry Potter, reading quickly became not just a hobby but rather a place of escape. I soon realized, however, that while these fantasy worlds depicted every creature or race imaginable, the concept of something as simple as a gay character seemed inconceivable. This is the struggle that any teen of the LGBT community faces when reading young adult fiction. Fantasy novels are meant to be an escape from reality—to go to a place where anything is possible, yet sometimes that journey can be incredibly lonely when there isn't anybody like you.
The Seven is meant to be a place of escape for everyone. So, whether you are gay, lesbian, bi-sexual, a person of color, live with a disability, or a young girl looking for a strong female influence—no matter who you are, you will find your place in this book.
Hey, Everybody. I'm ah... somewhat new to Goodreads, even though I had an account for a while.
I am a new Fantasy Author named M.R. Cull. And my first novel is available (for now(?) ) exclusively on Amazon. I'm not sure how to get it posted up here on Goodreads since it is Self-Published through KDP. Technology and I have a fickle relationship. It took me one hour to find an email on a blog site... in my defense they shoulda had a plain-to-see Contact Us section.
Alas for my complaints, they havt gone unheard.
But anyways! I can send you the Amazon Link? Will that work? My book is titled "A Perilous Beginning: Secrets of the Eldarii" and it is available for Purchase now on Amazon in Ebook and Paperback Format. The Ebook is FREE for Kindle Unlimited members. I implore you to give it a shot.
The Preface is a bit... lengthy. That's only due to it being the first book. The second book will not have that. Did I mention I'm working on a second book? I'll have that one up soon as well!
My book is a traditional 'Epic' fantasy style novel. By Epic I mean we have a fictional world of my creation in a fictional universe, with a timeline to keep things organised, and many future books planned for this series. New fantasy races with familiar sub-titles such as Saphyr Elves show up in this series.
Here is the blurb I put in my Facebook Promo ads on the facebook groups:
"I've been wandering for a long time. Reunited with my last living Kin, I thought my life as a wanderer was over. But this was only a dream. Strife is a constant in my life and there is no leaving it. My name is Sechul Sagnar, and I make my stand in: A Perilous Beginning: Secrets of the Eldarii."
Empires, Immortals, Humans, Elves, Mysteries. This is the beginning of a series that will leave you with more questions than answers, but that is how openers are intended to be.
Welcome to the Terraverse, my Friends. Welcome, to Fantasy.

Hi everybody I'm Justin. Self published my first fantasy novel last year titled "From Wrath To Ruin". This book is the first in what will eventually be an ongoing series though each book will be a stand-alone story. Just need to get my butt in gear and get book #2 done! Written a couple of chapters...Always been a big fantasy buff, read a ton of fantasy and sci-fi books as a teenager and beyond, played my fair share of D&D and Warhammer... and Battletech, Robotech, Star Frontiers, Villians and Vigilantes, Blood Bowl, Adeptus Titanicus. Okay so maybe I played MORE than my fair share :)

Hey there,My name is Shawn Robinson. I just published the first in a new series (trilogy) called Arestana: The Key Quest. It’s a humorous, adventure fantasy geared to younger readers (9-14ish) and so far I’ve had great responses from my advanced readers/book launch teams and sales have been good (I reached #1 in children’s humor on day one on Amazon.ca… for a little bit). I have always liked fantasy... dragons, magic, more... but it's fun to throw some humor in there as well. :)

Books two and three are set to come out later this year (June 5 and November 5, respectively).

Hi friends!I'm a former corporate drone trying his hand at writing in a genre that he really loves. It's awesome that this group exists and I'm really happy I found out about it. I'm excited to chat or commiserate or soak up advice from everyone.
My book is a gritty, low-fantasy epic in a vaguely East Asian setting (think A Song of Ice and Fire in ancient China). Dragons Ascendant: Omnibus Edition
Thank you all ahead of time for your kindness and advice!
Hello, my name is Adam. I've published my first novel "Xenoman." It's a sci-fi dystopian odyssey with parnaormal activity, alien conspiracies, a far out designer drug culture, and artificial humans.
Brief synopsis:
Xeno yearns to have access to The Nth Dimension like The White Boys, famed telepaths who suffered brain damage when they made contact with extraterrestrial intelligence. Out of work as a bartender since the Shoki Pao dance club mysteriously burned down, Xeno's lackluster lifestyle is getting harder to maintain.
Having survived an overdose of Black Magic, and successfully revived by Drinama, a brain implant slipped to him as a Mickey at a job fair, Xeno earns an entry level position as an agent for secret service organization Intellegella. Garry, his handler, introduces Xeno to the industrial version of the black box, allowing Xeno's pineal gland access to synthetic sensory perception with the turn of a dial.
Xeno's initial mission is to test the black box on the field, under Garry's watchful eye, and to locate Trianne, an ex co-worker, ex model, ex pole dancer for the Shoki Pao, gone missing and showing signs of spontaneous human combustion, an emerging side effect of Black Magic, and a public safety hazard.
All he has to do is bring Trianne back to Intellegella for treatment. It's that simple . . . according to Garry.

Hi everyone, I'm DJ Cooper from England. I've previously published adult SF novels under a pen name. I've written for Radish Fiction and currently write on Medium.com. I've reverted back to "real" me for my latest science fiction/ mystery / thriller / action / space opera (and breathe!) Missing Remnants is available for 0.99 until its launch on 14th May.
Detective Track is a good cop who can’t keep his mouth shut. He’s suspended just for doing his job.
Cut off from resources and official backup, he must do what the Authority won’t and investigate the disappearance of the missing Remnants. The vanishing group's only crime was to survive the recent biological outbreak. Now, they're considered a drain on society.
Track’s apartment is ransacked, he’s followed, attacked and hampered by an injury. His medication and cryptic messages from someone he knows to be dead threaten his sanity.
Is he losing his mind or is something sinister at play? The truth is more twisted than he ever imagined.

Historically, I wrote mostly about science and technology, with dozens of magazine, journal, and conference papers. I also contributed a chapter to an industry text book (Mobile Display - Technology and Applications). I was an inventor and Silicon Valley entrepreneur / founder / CEO. I invented the PenTile display (go ahead, google it, I'll wait). But last fall, I self-published my first science fiction novel All The Stars Are Suns
I'm currently writing more in the same universe (why not? I spent a LOT of effort in careful world building).
Hello everyone, I just self published my first fantasy novel. The Black Wizard (The Shallows Saga #1)

Life on the street is hard. Drug dealers, thieves, and even the security officers of the giant walking city of Manhatsten are up to no good. But somehow, Mimi’s done it for centuries. Of course, it helps that she is able to peek into other people’s minds and avoid trouble most of the time. Unfortunately, that same talent is about to get her into a whole other world of trouble. One that she never even knew existed.

Five Star review reading of The Afterlife of Alice Watkins: Book One by Matilda Scotney, available as ebook and paperback. Hi, I've created a SFF anthology with a group of fellow Writers of the Future winners called The Future is Nigh. These are reprints from pro markets and include a Neblula Award nominee, two WotF Gold Pen awards, a Jim Baen Award finalist and a Tangent Online Starred Recommendation. It's available in print & Kindle and I can supply ecopies to those who'd like to submit honest reviews. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/154...
I'm Joe. I'm a fantasy author. My books are best described as fantasy technothrillers, with plot points hinging on technical details.
I trained as a stunt performer (the series is a portal fantasy and my MC is a stuntman), and I've had a long and weird career in the military including a stint in Special Operations. I weave a lot of firsthand knowledge into the books to make sure the details are right.
To that end, I did all of my research in person, and took the first decade while I was learning to write to also learn how to do nearly everything mundane that happens in my books: rapier and greatsword combat, archery, blacksmithing, camping on horseback, wilderness survival. I traveled to Europe to pace off castles and ruins, and even went BASE jumping when I thought it might be an interesting way for the stuntman character from Earth to get off the top of a tower in a hurry. (Spoiler: it totally was.)
I try not to get too tedious with the details, but there's almost no handwavium in my worldbuilding. I'm working to set a new standard for suspension of disbelief in fantasy; I believe that in order to suspend disbelief in magic, we must first suspend disbelief in the mundane. I've found that readers will believe in flying horses if the saddles make sense.
Anyway, new book coming out in September: The New Magic, linked above. The ARCs are out and the reviews are coming in. I'm always looking for new promo avenues, and I'm always up for an interview or guest blog post.

Hi all!My name is James Maxstadt, and I currently have out the first two book in the Duke Grandfather Saga, which are humorous, fast-paced fantasy adventures.
I'll have an anthology of short stories coming in early August, and am well into a new stand-alone novel titles "Solomon's Exile", which I hope to have out in early 2019.
Hello! My name is Becca Fox. My first book was published in October of last year but since then I've gotten two more books published. Now, I'm working on a fourth. I've formed a good relationship with Inkitt.com, a reader-powered publisher that publishes books based on reader engagement. They have this algorithm that monitors how many people read stories all the way through. There are updates available on each writer's profile, to let them know how many people have read their book from day to day. Once enough people have read and/or voted for a story, Inkitt's publishing team will take a look and offer a publishing deal (if they think the book is best-seller material).
So far, I've gotten five star reviews for my sci-fi/fantasy novel The Andromeda's Ghost. By promoting through Facebook reader groups, my personal Twitter account, my newsletter, and my blog, I've gotten some good traffic, but I guess not enough people are reading the book all the way through because I haven't seen any progress in over a month. I could use some help with this. I don't know if I need to expand my reach or if there's something fundamentally wrong with the story itself. Any feedback or promotion help would be greatly appreciated.
The whole story, along with a blurb and the reviews, are available to read for free on Inkitt's website here: https://www.inkitt.com/stories/scifi/...

If anyone wants to do book exchange (you read mine, I read yours) I would love to put a few on my calendar before the year is out.

My name is Christopher Nilsson. I have a fantasy novel that is set in an ancient Mesopotamia called The Jewels of the Ishamah. It's kind of like Indiana Jones minus the archaeologists since it's set in ancient times. Much like Indiana Jones or Tomb Raider the story revolves around mysterious ancient treasure with incredible power--the mystical treasure being the jewels of Ishamah. It's currently only available as an ebook but I'm working on getting it out in print as well. I need as much exposure for it as I can. Hope this helps promote it and pique some interest in it. Good luck to everybody here trying to promote their work. We're all in this together.
Hello, I am Ken J. Bailey. I've written a few fantasy novels now and would like to introduce my first, 'Alice Dippleblack in The Jellybane'. It's a fantasy adventure story written primarily for middle grade readers.Fourteen-year-old Alice Dippleblack is a monster hunter. After losing her parents to the war still raging far to the west, the young Tokala had to learn quickly how to manage on her own. With the sword left to her by her father, Alice has taken to hunting the jelly monsters that emerge from a nearby forest. With the pearl-like core stones taken from the ravenous blobs, Alice is able to at least get by. That is until a fateful encounter with two strangers ends up taking her on an eyeopening journey of magic, adventure, and friendship.
This is my first novel and I know it is not great but would very much appreciate any feedback so I might improve.
You may enjoy the full audiobook now on YouTube: https://youtu.be/PjocDVXcSx4
Paperbacks are also available on Amazon, just search "Dippleblack"

I'm Greg Krojac and I'm the author of four science fiction novels, a trilogy 'The Recarn Chronicles' and my most recent book, a post-apocalyptic romance 'Reality Sandwich'.
Although I'm from England, I've been living in Brazil for the past 10 years, which obviously makes it nigh on impossible to meet face-to-face with fellow authors. Thank you Sir Tim Berners-Lee for creating the Worldwide Web.
My writing philosophy is simple. Books and chapters are as long or short as they should be. I don't subscribe to the idea that a novel or chapter should be 'x' number of words long; to force a certain number of words results in 'packing out' a story, something which I feel would do me, the story, and - above all - the reader a disservice.
You can find more details about me and my books at my website https://www.gregkrojac.com/
The Recarn Chronicles is a trilogy that fuses reincarnation, the Illuminati, and human cloning, a struggle between the 5% (those who can remember their past lives and abuse this ability to create a New World Order) and the One Life resistance movement who want a return to the days when life was sacrosanct.
