Hi everyone. I'm Philip, and I'm a new fantasy author working on my very first trilogy set in a world of my design called Darkstar Steam (a fantasy/steampunk/post apocalyptic/western themed world). I plan to write more about the world beyond this trilogy, from other perspectives. I love to read fantasy of many types, horror, the history of everything, some sci-fi and Raymond Chandler detective stories.

I'm still learning about how to tweet and blog, but on rare occasions I may post my thoughts here on Goodreads.

The Mer Chronicles----Book One: Mythos

True love was the last thing David Cooley expected to find in the Bahamas, But the moment he laid eyes on Faren Sands, he knew he had found the girl of his dreams. How could he know she was a mermaid from the lost island of Atlantis?
Because of the strict laws regarding human contact, the couple flees the consequences of their forbidden passion, struggling to survive a conflict brewing between the mermaids and sea demons for the last eleven thousand years.
Once the epic battle begins, fate forces David to make a decision that will forever affect his young life. Should he stick by the woman he loves, risking his mortality for a civilization that hates him?

Are you 'friends' with facebook's Paranormal Reads, Paranormal Romance Junkies, Paranormal Romance & Authors that Rock, etc.? Often one of these will ask for new mermaid novels :)

Henry Oldie | 17 comments Hello!
We are Dmitry Gromov and Oleg Ladyzhensky, the professional SF & Fantasy writers from Ukraine writing under the joint penname HENRY LION OLDIE.

(Prevention: English is not our native language. On the whole we write and speak in Russian. Our English is not perfect enough, so, please, excuse us for some possible mistakes.)

We’d like to introduce ourselves to this community.
We’re the professional writers since 1996. From 1991 to December 2013 we had published more than 220 hard cover books, including reprints and translations from Russian to French, Polish, Lithuanian and Ukrainian, or more than 50 original books (first prints); and some anthologies. More than 30 novels, 14 novelettes and more than 70 short stories were published up until now. At “EuroCon-2006” International European SF & Fantasy Convention H. L. Oldie got a title of The Best European SF & Fantasy Writer of 2006…
But our books never before had been published in the English-speaking world. So, in this huge literary world we’re only beginners, as many others.
We hope to publish our first fantasy book in English in January 2014 at Amazon and Smashwords in eBook format. The book was translated from Russian to English by our Canadian friends and professionally edited by philologists from DePaul University, Chicago, US.
Our official English WEB-site: http://oldie-worlds.com/news.html
We hope, nobody here will have any objections if we’ll put more detailed information about our book in this community when the book will appear at Amazon and Smashwords?

Sincerely yours,
Henry Lion Oldie.

L. M. Beyer | 2 comments Hi folks,

My name is Louise and I have self-published a couple of books through Amazon's CreateSpace and KDP sites. The books are also listed here on Goodreads, under L.M. Beyer.

The Sci-Fi novels are "Call Me Pharaoh" and "The Aldebaran Countdown." "Call Me Pharaoh" has 8 reviews on Amazon, all 4- and 5-star. "The Aldebaran Countdown" got one review but it's a 5-star.

I would like to see more interest in my books and decided that I should do more to promote them, which is not something I find easy to do, and have not done much.

I recently created a book trailer video and I believe I saw a thread around here where I can post it.

Thanks

G.G. (ggatcheson) Hello everyone, and thank you Alexandar for the invite. :)

What a nice eclectic group from all over the world you have here. :) I'm looking forward to learn to know you all and hopefully make new friends. :)

I love reading introductions, but I hate writing them. Still, I'll give it a shot.
My name is... I'll stick with GG.;) I am a French Canadian who moved to Ohio, USA, 14 years ago.

My book,The Legacy: Fate, is a mix of sci-fi and something else. (I thought it was paranormal but I've been told contemporary fantasy.)
Here's a short blurb.
After his spaceship crashes on Earth, Alex makes a strange encounter. The woman isn't like any other he's ever met before; she is vampire.
For her, he will break rules, his people's rules, until there is no turning back. To protect her, he may have to break his most sacred one: the vow not to take a life.

David P Forsyth (daidpforsyth) | 1 comments Hi and thanks for the invite. I'm David P. Forsyth and I write apocalyptic SF and horror. My first book, Voyage of the Dead, is FREE on Amazon Kindle, Nook, Kobo, iTunes, etc... That series includes Flotilla of the Dead and Deluge of the Dead, as well as the prequel collection Interludes in Hell as part of the "Sovereign Spirit Saga." It follows the adventures of survivors aboard a ship sailing through the zombie apocalypse.

My next book, titled "Solitude 1: Impact" will be released soon and is a different take on an apocalypse without the zombies.

I appreciate any cross-promotions, especially spreading the word that "Voyage of the Dead" is FREE at http://www.amazon.com/dp/B006Y3XF4A Bon Voyage!

Marc Nash (sulci) Hi I'm Marc Nash from London and have written two different literary scifi books.

Time After Time by Marc Nash Time After Time which is a time travel/ parallel universe comedy based on the logical inconsistencies of the "Terminator" movies. How can an assassin travel back in time and kill someone in order to alter their own future, since if successful, then they wouldn't need to send someone back from the future in the first place...

The book also comes with a link to a 40+ song Spotify playlist as one of the characters is a DJ who plays these songs to soundtrack the action, or perhaps to predict it...

Trailer: http://youtu.be/N1-eTq2Xdn0

The other book is a dystopian police procedural with paranormal elements and was written in response to the work of China Mieville

Lisa Marie Gabriel (lisamariegabriel) | 3 comments Hi everyone, I am from the UK, an here to make new friends and hopefully help each other out. I write poetry (some of it rhymes - so YUK for some people!) I have also written music books, musical criticism and edited/published illuminated and illustrated verse for a friend.

My main obsession currently is shapeshifter vampires so I have one novel out already,
The Cougar
The Cougar by Lisa Marie Gabriel

Currently I am working on a prequel/sequel to The Cougar centred on the experiences of Berenice's husband. I guess that makes me a fantasy author? Anyway, I am a big fan of original Victorian Gothic novels and penny dreadfuls so I cross genres a fair bit.

That's me! Thank you to Alexandar for the invite. :)

P.J. Kelley | 1 comments Thanks for the invite Alexandar. I do appreciate this because I happen to be working on a sci-fi novel, though I did write a Zombie genre book which could be loosely labeled sci-fi as well, I suppose.

My current book, loosely titled THE GODS OF TIME is in the edit phase. I put up a couple of installments on my blog, but I changed it up radically since then. Here is the link to the first couple of installments http://zombieworldorderthebookseries....

It was going to be a short story, but it is going to wind up being a short novel. The book is about people dealing with eternity, and since space ships and quantum physics are involved, it's a sci-fi.

Anyway, this was a timely invitation. I will want to promote this book, and have been wondering how to "cross-over". The hope is I get more readers for my Zombie World Order Trilogy as well in the process.

Below I put the link to my book, which is called THE COMPLETE ZOMBIE WORLD ORDER TRILOGY.

Again, it's nice to join this group.

F.J. Hansen (fjhansen) | 4 comments Greetings.

I grew up around science fiction, so, naturally, that's the genre I tend to lean toward. I started writing seriously at around 11 years of age after about a year or two creating my own Star Trek-based stories with my Micro Machines. These stories were the focus of my writing for the next few years until I started creating my own science fiction Universe.

Now, nearly 20 years later, I'm working on a series of novels that are set in that Universe. Book 1 (Draconia: Forging Trust) is out, Book 2 is complete and being held back until I finish Book 3--which should be very soon.

The series is set on a world (Draconia) dominated by a race of intelligent of dragons. A young dragon, the very curious Varthikes, investigates a Human scouting party that arrives hoping to establish a colony. The encounter leads to a misunderstanding that sparks a struggle for exclusive control of the planet. Audwin McClance, a young officer on his first mission, befriends Varthikes. Together, they seek to establish a peaceful co-existence between their two kinds.

Stuart Land (stuartland) Hi there! I'm Stuart Land, a cross-genre author, which means that I write in many different genre, as well as mash some up. However, for this group, it's all Sci-fi! My novel, ENDLESS SKY: the Sergeant's Pledge, is the first in a series of dramatic/thriller/space operas that deal with contemporary issues in a futuristic universe, primarily because the main characters are from the last century, but propelled into the future by the bonds they enter into.

The series came about because when I worked in the movie biz in Hollywood, I pitched almost fifty shows to the Star Trek franchise. Though they used many of the elements from my stories, they didn't use the plots. So now I have enough plot lines to write more than a dozen books. I've just started on book two called, THE THOUSAND GATES OF HEAVEN.

Rusty Nugent (RustyNugent) | 4 comments I am an 42 year old southern gentleman that is a rocker. I am an father of two and have been in a 20 year relationship with my lady, Mary. I write a Urban Horror Romance Dark Fantasy novel series called Moonwarriors:Guardians of the Night. Hopefully, Y'all will read about my life and be entertained. Enjoy.

My first horror movie was From Hell It Came!, I was two years old. Then, Trilogy of Terror with the late Karen Black. When I was three years old my parents brought me to see Jaws at the theater. I fall in love with that movie. And I found out my mother had a Readers Digest Condensed Book of Jaws by Peter Benchley. I begged her to read it to me all the time, until she told me that I needed to learn to read so I could read the book myself. In third grade, I was reading Jaws while the other kids were reading kid books. I saw Texas Chainsaw Massacre at the drive in I was age three. Then, I saw The Car staring James Brolin when I was age five. I loved the look of that demonic car.

Then came a little film called Star Wars. It changed my life. But The Car oddly enough is what started me writing. At age six I wrote a book for The Car it was about 4 page. In the third grade, I began writing more often and found it was to my liking and that my peers seemed to like it.

In the early 1980s, three horror films came that made an impact on me. An American Werewolf In London, The Howling, and Wolfen. Thus, my fascination with werewolves began.

When I met my girlfriend and lifemate, we discovered we both liked the same music and had an afinity for these creatures of the night. She begged me to write her a medieval werewolf story. We agreed that it shouldn't be the "typical" tired, traditional tale, so we thought, the werewolf always gets a bad wrap, so let's make him the hero, and thus, "Moonwarriors" was born. In September 2004 my first book was published. I was so excited! Then in October 2004 my mother passed away and six weeks later my grandmother died. I was having a great deal of pain in my stomach. I went to the hospital, I had surgery to remove my gall bladder. And the Doctors found out I had a heart problem. They put in a pace maker with one wire in April 2005. Hurricane Katrina hit in August 2005 and we lost everything but our lives. My family and I were homeless for a few months before we moved to Lebanon, Tennessee. We got Moonwarriors: Guardians Of The Night Published. I found out I have congressive heart failure and they put in a pace maker with 2 wires to my heart this time. Then, My girlfriend fell down the stairs and crushed 3 discs in her lower back. So, we moved to a flat apt. After living there for five years, the new office chics kick us out. We moved back to the town house with the stairs in 2012. And Now I am working on my third novel in the Moonwarriors saga.

Lita Burke (litaburke) | 4 comments Hi everyone. Thanks so much for asking me to join the group. I am Lita Burke, an indie fantasy author. I have two book series that would interest fantasy fans.

The Tredan’s Bane epic fantasy series is about a magical oddities dealer who hides her kidnapped husband’s dangerous spell book. These stories are a tingly mix of mystery, magical essence kisses, and ghostly warnings. The series has a prequel and the first installment, with another title on its way for early 2015:

Wrath, Prequel to Tredan's Bane by Lita Burke
Tredan's Bane by Lita Burke

The Clockpunk Wizard Stories have lighter fantasy fare involving the adventures of a wizard-for-hire, his half-elf assistant, and weredog familiar. These tales blend traditional wizardry with Leonardo da Vinci’s 16th century clockworks technology. The series has three stories for now, with a fourth adventure coming this summer:

Forever Boy (Clockpunk Wizard, #1) by Lita Burke
Ephraim's Curious Device (Clockpunk Wizard, #2) by Lita Burke
Old Bony Blue Eyes (Clockpunk Wizard, #3) by Lita Burke

Britt Ringel | 2 comments Hi, I'm Britt and I self-publish a scifi series called This Corner of the Universe. Three books are published out of an initial five-book arc (This Corner of the Universe, No Way to Start a War, The Wrong Side of Space). The series is military scifi or space opera, following the story of Captain Garrett Heskan and the original crew of BRS Anelace. You can find out more on my Britt Ringel Goodreads page or my website http://thiscorneroftheuniverse.com

Interesting group, can't wait to peruse the bookshelf!

C.A. Hartway (CAHartway) | 5 comments Hello everyone! I am C.A. Hartway, author of Day Of Rain: Rise Of The False Prophet. Today's forecast: Rain mixed with hail, and millions of fallen angels that will soon explode into the earth, destroying one-third of mankind. For the first time in eternity, these demonic beings will feel the anguish of pain, and in their rage, they will seek to destroy all of creation. They will escape their misery, into the portal of time (courtesy of the false prophet) to devour the generations, and ultimately, bring Heaven into the fires of Hell. However, there is one man who can awaken the sleeping angels who walk the earth in secrecy, in time to battle the wicked ones. But will he be too late?

This is an action-packed, suspenseful, white-knuckle thrill-ride, with romantic allure and seductive twists throughout the story -- a definite page turner if your mind is open to a little biblical Sci-fi and Horror. C.A. Hartway

Joel Reeves (httpsangrybenbookswordpresscom) | 2 comments Hi,
I'm Joel. I am a speculative fiction author. The third book in my Quillogy, Dreams, Schemes, and Spiny Machines was just released by Double Dragon Press. It is a rollicking fantasy adventure about an evil telepathic hedgehog with designs on world domination...for starters.
