Dave is not her brother he is friends with her brother so they both call breasts 'nunga nungas' etc.
I thought it might be something like that ... but it really seemed like Dave was her brother. There was nothing saying he wasn't.

Near the end of the book, it says:
"Bloody sacre bleu. Dave the Laugh was supposed to really like me. How come he is going out with Ellen? How dare she go out with him? He is only just my ex."
But earlier on, we hear things like:
"Ellen says her brother also calls breasts 'nunga-nungas'." Ellen is talking about her brother, Dave the Laugh.
"'Is your brother a bit on the mad side?'
'No, he's quite a laugh, really. He calls going to the loo 'going to the piddly-diddly department'.'" Ellen talks about Dave, right? Her brother?
"If it's cold, Ellen's hilarious brother says it's 'nippy noodles'." Ellen talking about her BROTHER. Correct?
And then here:
"Ellen said, 'He really is quite cool-looking. Has he done that nibbling thing again? I quite fancy the sound of that.'"
And then back to the first quote.
So Dave suddenly turned from Ellen's brother to someone Ellen gets a crush on and later goes out with?
Continuity error or have I missed something? Is Dave not her brother?
Or is there an unexpected inter-family 'relationship' mystery going on here?
Someone please set me straight, I'm very confused at the moment...
