Awesome! Would Nov. 12 work? I'll join in on In the Woods with you in December. I didn't previously know about the book, but it peaked my interest.

message 456: by Anima (new)

Anima Miejska | 1698 comments After some discussion on the date, me and Cathie decided to start the buddy read December 9th, I'm very happy you can join us :), there is a thread for this buddy read in the section :)

message 457: by Tessa (new)

Tessa (tessa_ioana) | 75 comments Can I start a buddy read?

message 458: by Lynn, Moderator (new)

Lynn | 4478 comments Mod
Tessa, anyone can suggest a book for a buddy read. If you find someone to read with you (just one person needed), decide on a date and then start a thread (take a look at the other buddy read threads for suggestions).

I will then add it to the buddy reads calender.

message 459: by Tessa (last edited Oct 10, 2013 04:43AM) (new)

Tessa (tessa_ioana) | 75 comments Ok so, anyone wants to read with me one of these books?
Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë The Name of the Star (Shades of London, #1) by Maureen Johnson Sorta Like a Rock Star by Matthew Quick
Let me know :) .

@Edit: I'm very curious about Lauren DeStefano's new series, The Internment Chronicles. Just recieved a copy for my kindle and I'm eager to try it. She's a good author, just sucks a little at world building. She choosed a very complex subject in The Chemical Garden, but I want to give her another chance before deciding she's no good.

So, adding Perfect Ruin to the buddy list.
Anyone wants to try this?
Perfect Ruin (Internment Chronicles, #1) by Lauren DeStefano
The cover is lovely, as always :).

I would be interested in Anna Karenina or Wuthering Heights, both have been on my to-read list forever!

message 464: by Anima (new)

Anima Miejska | 1698 comments Cinzia and Adrienne, you are most welcome to join the buddy read, there is a thread on this buddy read in this section :)

message 465: by Tessa (last edited Oct 10, 2013 10:29AM) (new)

Tessa (tessa_ioana) | 75 comments @ Melissa: That sounds great. We can start with this on the 1st week of November ;).

@Tonya: well, since Melissa wants Anna Karenina we should go with that one. Or, we could go with both if you think you can do it, I'm sure I can. I have a boring job that requires a lot of sitting around so I read a lot while I'm not doing anything. :) We can start on Wuthering Heights this month and read Anna Karenina the next :) .

message 466: by Tonya (new)

Tonya | 29 comments I have a couple that I'm finishing up, but if you would like to start Wuthering Heights on Monday that should work out great for me! And yes, definitly Anna Karenina in November, I'm excited for both of them! :)

message 467: by Tessa (new)

Tessa (tessa_ioana) | 75 comments That sounds great. :)
We can start this Monday with Wuthering Heights.
Hello my new book buddy! *kiss*

@Lynn, can you start the topic for this on Monday?

Tessa (tessa_ioana) | 75 comments Thank you Lynn :). Please correct the date for the start of this read.

@Tonya: can't wait to start this :D.

So confused when I came here, thinking I'm pretty sure you meant 14th October .... then went to the thread and realised my mistake, whoops! :)

message 473: by Becca (last edited Oct 14, 2013 03:38PM) (new)

Becca (becka_anne) Hello all.
I would like to read World War Z would any one like to read it with me?

Helen Callaghan Rebecca wrote: "Hello all.

I hear it's really great - much smarter than its premise. But I've been given a reading prescription today so wouldn't be able to get to it for a little while.

That is fine by me. I was thinking it would be good for a Halloween read - but I just don't have time before then really! When do you think you might be able to start?

message 476: by Helen (new)

Helen Callaghan Ace! Some time in November maybe? I think it's quite a chunky read, so maybe mid November, just to be on the safe side...

message 477: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 5 comments I would love to read that too!

Lynn | 4478 comments Mod
Decide on a date ladies and I'll add it to the calender :)

Jenn S. (Book Buzz) (jennsbookbuzz) | 64 comments My hubby has been bugging me to read WWZ, so I am in for the buddy read as well...could we consider doing it Dec. 1? November is really full for me.

message 480: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 5 comments I am up for any date. You ladies let me know.

message 481: by Helen (new)

Helen Callaghan December 1st is perfect for me too.

message 482: by Anima (new)

Anima Miejska | 1698 comments I will gladly join in for reading WWZ, I loved the movie and I'm curious about the book, it's been sitting on my tbr list forever now, and December is great as I only have few books scheduled for this month :)

message 483: by Becca (new)

Becca (becka_anne) Lovely, December 1st it is then :) Are we all okay to read it by December 22nd? I know it's not a long time, but I think getting it read by Christmas would be best. Its around 350 pages.
I have a copy at home (I'm at work at the moment) so will check how many chapters and base a schedule around a finish date of 22nd if everyone is happy?

message 484: by Becca (new)

Becca (becka_anne) I've just managed to find a copy (one of the benefits of working in a Library) and there are 9 chapters. So would three a week be reasonable for everyone?

message 485: by Anima (new)

Anima Miejska | 1698 comments I totally agree with a three-week spun, I would like to read it a little bit quicker, but it is just me :)

message 486: by Becca (new)

Becca (becka_anne) I am actually also happy to read it in two, I'm just not sure about everyone else?

message 487: by Anima (new)

Anima Miejska | 1698 comments I think that it can be as with Rebecca buddy read, there is a schedule for the whole month and everyone reads in one's own pace, so three weeks seems to be equally ok to manage, especially that later we have Christmas time, and it can be difficult to find some free time to read LOL

message 488: by Becca (new)

Becca (becka_anne) That is true, we could do it that way. I personally would prefer to have set points to stop and discuss the book, otherwise I find things tend to get complicated with so many different reading paces. I'm happy to go with the majority though? What would everyone else prefer?

message 489: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 5 comments Dec 1st to Dec 22nd is fine by me! Finishing earlier works too.

message 490: by Becca (last edited Oct 15, 2013 06:21AM) (new)

Becca (becka_anne) How do you feel about having specific chapters to read each week v everyone reading at their own pace Sarah?

I've started a thread for all those interested in reading World War Z. We can continue the discussion on there?

message 491: by Becca (new)

Becca (becka_anne) Tessa and I are going to do a buddy read for All The Truth That's In Me does anyone want to join us?
We are thinking of a Nov 1st start.

message 492: by Tessa (new)

Tessa (tessa_ioana) | 75 comments I'm in. We can start on this next month. Can't wait! ^^

message 493: by Becca (new)

Becca (becka_anne) Nor can I! I'm very excited. :)

message 494: by Anima (new)

Anima Miejska | 1698 comments The synopsis sounds really interesting, but I'm not sure I can squeeze this book in November, if I can't, I will join the discussion later :)

message 495: by Becca (new)

Becca (becka_anne) Would you be able to squeeze it in earlier Anima? I'm starting my A-Z with this book so wanted to start it before November
Otherwise, we could have the buddy read at a later date (maybe dec?) And I will just read the book earlier and join in the discussion?

message 496: by Anima (new)

Anima Miejska | 1698 comments I don't think I can squeeze it earlier, I have already had 12 books scheduled for October and another 10 on November, but I think I can make in December, one way or another, I will definitely join your discussion, even if I start later :)

message 497: by Jeanne (new)
