YA book about a haunting /s

I remember reading a book from when I was a kid about a family that travels to a vacation home. The lead character is a young girl, possibly with a sister. The ghost starts out as troublesome but quickly befriends the main character and, at the end when the family is leaving to head back home, the ghost goes into a cat figurine that the main character carries out.

Any ideas?? I think the ghost's name was Beryl.

Beware! This House Is Haunted has a ghost named Beryl. You didn't say how long ago you read it, but this was first published in 1988.
