Mateo R. (teoentrelibros) | 24 comments There was this book about a young boy (around 11) who lives in a small village in Europe (Germany maybe? Can't quite remember) with his grandfather, who is a master carpenter. Many of the men from the village are carpenters too and they decide to go to work to America (its a time of construction boom, expansion and railrod building, etc). The book is told from the perspective of the boy, it's like a coming-of-age story. There's also the matter of his missing father who had a fight with the boy's grandfather long ago and is presumed to be in America.
I also think the last name of the boy (and the grandfather) ended in "mann". Something like Hoffmann or Zimmermann. Or maybe it was the author's name, I can't trust my memory.
I remember more details but I'd be spoiling.
Sorry for my english and thanks in advance!
