From the article, "
Italo Calvino got it right when he named a classic "a book that never runs out of things to say." That to me says, no expiration date, no river bank of usefulness run dry. There's always another bend waiting to surprise us."

Carol/Bonadie (bonadie) | 8057 comments Wow, I wasn't surprised by some on the list but was surprised that there were a few that I'd never even heard of. And surprised that there was no Dickens on the list -- A Tale of Two Cities was the single greatest Classics read of my adult life (so far).

Ann (annrumsey) | 14618 comments I haven't read A Tale of Two Cities yet Carol - looks like I should. So many books!!

message 4: by Donnajo (new)

Donnajo | 3593 comments I think I only read 4 of the books on the list.
Ann, I think we should put a tale of two cities on our list to get too at some point since I never read that one either.
