Laylah Hunter (Mods, please move this if it's in the wrong place! I wasn't sure what folder would be the best spot for it.)

So as you probably already know if you're in that group too, the M/M Romance group is having their big annual writing event right now -- currently people are leaving and claiming prompts, and stories will go up over the summer.

There's just one problem: the vast majority of the prompts so far are contemporary! Which leaves authors who love sff (like me) with very few options.

If you're in the M/M Romance group, please think about stopping by the Love Has No Boundaries folder (here) and leaving a spec fic prompt! I'd love to write for this event, but I need some magic or spaceships along with the hot guys to get me interested. ;)

Angel Martinez (angelmartinez) | 226 comments Oh, my dear - I've snagged a prompt and while I can't guarantee spaceships, it will most definitely be SF :)Yep. Stealth SF. The best kind.

message 3: by Laylah Hunter (new)

Laylah Hunter Hee, awesome! I am still waiting for the perfect prompt to come along and snag me -- there have been a few pictures that I really loved but where the prompter definitely wanted real-world stuff. I know patience is a virtue, but it's hard!

message 4: by Jaime (new)

Jaime | 11 comments Laylah, I've been having abysmal luck finding a promt I like in time to claim it. If you leave one, let me know so I can take a look, okay?

message 5: by Laylah Hunter (new)

Laylah Hunter ah, I'm sorry, I left mine last night! I asked for an android story and he got snapped up in about ten minutes.

I saw that one. One I was too slow on. :(

message 7: by Angel (new)

Angel Martinez (angelmartinez) | 226 comments Ah - I read too fast. Laylah would like a prompt. Dang it. I did one already - which was snapped up in about five minutes. I don't think I'm allowed two.

message 8: by Laylah Hunter (new)

Laylah Hunter I've missed a couple that would have been lovely, too. I hope people keep leaving fun ones -- one of these times it'll work out!

Angel, there are a shocking number of prompts with "no BDSM" Not that I'm against not including it in my stories but I can't gaurentee that it won't crop up. It usually does. And the BDSM ones are either salve/non-con, which I don't like to write, or snapped up before I get there.... :(

message 10: by Angel (new)

Angel Martinez (angelmartinez) | 226 comments I had noticed that - I think it's a reaction to the huge explosion in BDSM stories lately.

Well, I found one. it isn't going to be sff, unfortunately, but I'm allowed some D/s and its a threesome, so this will be fun First time I actually *set out* to write a threesome. I've written two so far, but they didn't start out that way.

Angel Martinez (angelmartinez) | 226 comments I find that you can make almost anything SFF if you try, lol

Well, *you* can, maybe, but you're pretty freaky good that way ;)

Angel Martinez (angelmartinez) | 226 comments LOL - thank you, Jaime! I have a twisted soul and a seriously bent brain, but I'll take it as a compliment. ;)

Have to agree with you there, Angel!

If someone has used up their prompt, I will post it as mine. I agree there isn't nearly enough SF in these stories.

message 18: by Jaye (new)

Jaye McKenna | 55 comments I haven't posted a prompt yet, either, so if anybody has seen a pic that would work for a sci fi (or fantasy) story, I'd be willing to post it and come up with a prompt for it... let me know.

If you're up for fantasy also, the LGBT Fantasy group has an Images folder with a bunch of pic options! ETA: and as I go through them, I'm spotting some that would make good sci fi, too -- this guy is totally living in a post-apocalypse setting, for example, or these guys could go cyberpunk....

message 20: by Jaye (new)

Jaye McKenna | 55 comments Hey, thanks, Laylah! I'll check this out right now... and then I'll have to figure out how to post a pic (whine, whimper). Not overly tech-savvy, here, which is weird for a sci fi fan, I know...

message 21: by Laylah Hunter (new)

Laylah Hunter Posting pics isn't hard! you use the img html tag, which will look like this:

<img src="">

Just put the address for the pic itself between the quotation marks and it should show up fine. :3

message 22: by Jaye (new)

Jaye McKenna | 55 comments Thanks! I'll give that a shot... stay tuned, I'm waiting for the LGBT Fantasy group to approve my membership and then I'll get something up for you guys who are still looking for prompts.

message 23: by Jaye (new)

Jaye McKenna | 55 comments Laylah, I loved that first pic you linked, so I took that one, and I've posted my Dear Author letter.

Guys, it'll work for fantasy or sci fi, if anyone wants to grab it.

message 24: by Laylah Hunter (new)

Laylah Hunter ooh yum! I really liked the look of that guy, too -- I hope you get an excellent story out of it!

message 25: by Jaye (last edited Mar 18, 2013 01:12PM) (new)

Jaye McKenna | 55 comments Yeah, he was in the first season of Spartacus. Very yummy!

ETA: thanks for your image-posting help!
ETA again: boy, that got snapped up fast...

I'd love more sci fi/fantasy prompts. I wrote last year, but this year there's nothing that speaks to me, an everything that does gets taken immediately. I can't keep up!

I want to request a cyborg story, but I need to find a good image first...

Stephen wrote: "okay, newbie question: What is a writing event?"

Stephen, the M/M Romance group has an event every year where people submit prompts based on photos and authors claim the prompts and write the stories. It is here (you have to be a member of the group to see it because it is an eighteen and older group):

We had a mini event like this for our 500 member celebration (though without pictures). The stories are here:

oh I liked the images were used!
