carol. | 2616 comments Welcome to Introductions reboot, 2.0! This is the spot where new people can stop in, say hi, share a little bit about themselves and their favorite authors and books, and be welcomed by current members.

*Note for authors: this is not the spot to introduce your own work. That is for the Self-Promotions folder http://www.goodreads.com/topic/group_...

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) First! :P

Umm, I'm Becky. I like books. I really love Stephen King, and Brandon Sanderson, and Neil Gaiman and GRRM and... and... lots.

I like talking about books with people. And I hate spoilers. I'm sarcastic and not easily offended and I like cats and my favorite color is green and my favorite # is 19. That is all. :)

Of course, which is why my favorite number has three three times over =]

My favorite color is also the same as Red's, but only if there is some amount of blue mixed with it.

Zero Richardson (zeroangel) Hi! Please call me Zero. One of my favorite things about fantasy are the different worlds and creatures you find in each book. Fantasy is my favorite, but I love all speculative fiction.

Nice to meet everyone!

message 12: by Thomas (new)

Thomas Cardin | 26 comments Hello! My name is Thomas and my favorite number is 12, which is nicely divisible by 3, 4 times....and those two numbers together make a lucky 7. I am covered!

I am a new author of fantasy, but I am a reader first!

some things about me:
I stopped reading GRRM after he killed off all my favorite characters. Sorry, you can't kick me around like that.

I have NOT yet read anything by Sanderson, Rothfuss, Brett, Weeks, or Abercrombie except for their free samples.

I HAVE read everything by Stephen R. Donaldson, Dennis L. Mckiernan,Michael Moorcock, Roger Zelazny, Fritz Leiber, Robert E. Howard, Edgar Rice Burroughs, and Tolkien.

My favorite NEW authors are all self published: Hugh Howey, Jacob Gowans,V.B. Larson, and Randolph Lalonde (to name a few)

I also update my book list every day...I keep remembering books I have read.

message 29: by Patricia (new)

Patricia Reding | 85 comments Good morning! I am Patricia, an avid reader, lover of a good fantasy, and a Goodreads author. I have enjoyed this site so much and look forward to getting to know some more fantasy aficionados.

Since you all are sharing favorite colors, I would have to say butter yellow, striking orange, and bright green!

message 30: by John (new)

John Hancock (johngregoryhancock) | 91 comments darn, didn't realize I had to come up with a favorite color. Ok, I'll pick one. You know the color you get when step on a dead bird lying in a puddle all rainbow-y with expended motor oil?

well, forget that, my favorite color is blue.

message 31: by carol., Senor Crabbypants (new)

carol. | 2616 comments Oooh, i like the oil slick rainbow. Minus dead bird, of course.

Patricia Reding | 85 comments MrsJoseph wrote: "Welcome Patricia!

Yeah, me too. I guess I really realized it when someone commented on one of my two bright orange short trenchcoats. I told them that I started wearing the color when I noticed one day that I had been wearing too much black. I changed up my wardrobe when I had to ask myself when I had become allergic to color. . . .?

message 34: by John (new)

John Hancock (johngregoryhancock) | 91 comments I once had a favorite purple striped polo shirt. I wore it everywhere. And then I was in a car accident and broke my collarbone and they cut it off me! I've never been able to find just the right shade of purple again. *sniff*

I've done that, too.

I made myself stop buying black a few years ago to put color in my wardrobe.

Sadly, I've seen myself sliding back to basic black again.

colleen the convivial curmudgeon (blackrose13) And there's a problem with a mostly black wardrobe, why?

Well! There's no problem with it, of course, but whenever I see all black around me I think I am either: (1) at a cocktail party; (2) at a business event; or (3) in Paris. I know that last one sounds very strange, but I took my eldest to Paris a few years ago with a group of models. Suffice it to say that my bright green with white piping jacket garnered a great deal of attention . . . . Truly, all I saw that entire week was black. I guess I've never gotten over it.

message 41: by John (new)

John Hancock (johngregoryhancock) | 91 comments seriously, though, I'm an artist, and have had coworkers and friends over the years who dressed only in black. Its a choice, I understand it, but it doesn't really add anything cheerful. Not that we all have to look like easter peeps, but hey.

Snarktastic Sonja (snownsew) | 258 comments I just look so *bad* in black. I tend to wear browns . . . and any color I can find.

My poor hubby - My daughter very carefully went out and bought him a hot pink shirt with matching tie one year for Father's day. And, she makes him wear it. He likes all those boring funeral colors . . . she was trying to brighten him up!

Well, I've never been to Paris, or a cocktail party, for that matter, but, at my office the main colors seem to be blues, beiges/browns and grays.

It's business casual, though, and there aren't a lot of suit wearers, so that may have something to do with it.

I'm so tired of khakis and polo shirts, and would slowly go insane if I were forced to wear them. :>

message 44: by MrsJoseph *grouchy*, *good karma* (new)

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 7282 comments I look good in black. But...I wear a lot of black cause (1) it's slimming and (2) cause I'm piss poor at dressing myself.

I am NOT a fashionista. So...black is pretty easy.

But, I try to get color in my wardrobe so I can be fancy, too. :-) I still don't have a lot and most of the colors happen to be dull earth tones. And grey. But I'm getting better.

colleen the convivial curmudgeon (blackrose13) Black is easy. I hate trying to have to match colors, and everything goes with black. Plus there's the slimming thing, like you say.

Not to give the wrong impression, I rarely wear all black. (Blacks are effing hard to match, too.) ;)

But I always wear black with some other color, and not the other way around. Aside from the slimming and easiness, I aesthetically prefer darker colors. Beighter colors don't make me cheerful, they make me cranky. ;)

And I have a moral aversion to pink. Pink is just evil. ;D

colleen the convivial curmudgeon (blackrose13) It's usually the look on my face that makes people think I'm ready to start killin' people. >:D

My dad did once introduce me to some coworkers of his as his vampire daughter recently, tho. I think that was 'cause of the avoiding the sun thing, tho. They'd asked if I go to the shore house (i.e. trailer) to visit the folks in the summer, and I crinkled my nose at the thought of being at the beach in the summer sun. Blech.

Hot. Crowded. Burning. Oh yes, my idea of heaven right there...

Sophie (imhrien) | 433 comments Colleen wrote: "And I have a moral aversion to pink. Pink is just evil. ;D

I quite fear the pink. It truly is an awful, awful colour. Peach is nice though. =]

Also with you on the beach thing, or any hot place, for that matter. There's just something depressing and gross and stifling about being too warm. Glad we have only one hot season up north, it's more than enough for me.

message 48: by Ceilidh (new)

Ceilidh (ceilidh96) | 5 comments Hello! *waves* I'm Ceilidh (or am I...?) ;)
Let's see, favs would be Gaiman, Carroll (Lewis), Rowling, Tolkien, Bradley, really I'm open to just about anything, though I've been on a fairytale kick of late. Something about a dark, gloomy, twisted story fits March to me, dunno.
Let's see, #11, uh, peachish to orange for my color? I like a beach (mostly for the reading by the ocean with a fruity beverage), but my ideal is a misty day in the stone cottage in Garry Kennedy, Ireland. Sigh. American with Anglophile sensibilities.
