ABANDONED. (WWI?) War Vet Who Drinks, Philanderers, Owns a Farm

This is killing me. I read this book within the last two years and cannot remember the author/title.. Any help would be great. Major plot points include:

- lead character was a guy who was in a war (WWI?) and had returned home, bought a pig farm, and got in lots of fights with his neighbors about it
- he was divorcing or divorced from his wife
- he had a daughter that played violin
- he was drunk for pretty much all of the book
- he was sleeping with a pudgy, round-faced girl (rose). i think they went to italy
- at one point he can't get his car started and he just leaves it on the street
