I re-read it last year for a group read here. It was still good, although a little dated and unoriginal because of all the horror I've read in the decades since.
Sometimes I'm nervous to re-read things. Sometimes your memory of a story is much better than the actual story, you know?
Especially when it's so connected to your memories. My favorite book when I was a teenager, maybe even younger, was Interview With the Vampire. I can't tell you how many times I read it. But it's been years. I have it ready to go on my nook but I keep putting it off. It will be like losing something of myself if I don't like it anymore.

:)
Or you might find a part of you that you have lost or forgotten. I'm reading an old favorite now and remembering how much I loved it, and am falling in love with it again. Sometimes an old favorite becomes a new one.

That's true! I recently re-read Carrie, which I didn't like that much when I originally read it as a teen. I liked it way more now than I did then. I'm not sure why either. I didn't exactly fall in love with it though.Boy's Life by Robert McCammon WAS one that I fell in love with again. My goodness, I love that freakin' book!
Why is the American title NOS4A2 while the British title is NOS4R2 ??? This is driving me crazy. I would be eternally grateful if someone could give me an answer lol
I like the British title better. It is closer to how the word Nosferatu sounds to me. But I have no idea.
I have the opposite opinion. I think the A in the American version sounds more like the word because "four" ends in the R and leads into the A. Don't like the R because of the "are" sound. If all this makes sense.
I did a search but the closest to a reason I could find was different pronunciations. Maybe in England the 'a' is silent?

Yeah, Tiffany. I pronounce it with the American title: "Nahs-fur-(as a southerner this is how I lazily pronounce the four)ah-two"; the British title forces me to say it "Nahs-fur-are-two."
I tested my aunt and she says it the same way. I definitely hear the 'a'. For some reason the way I've always said it is, 'Nos-for-are-two', where the 'r' and 'a' sound blend together.
It's a darn good movie however you say it. :)

Here's a pronunciation for it. Just click the word. Anyway, those vanity plates are supposed to be said with the words all smooshed together or twisted to sound like the word it's supposed to be.
LOVED this book. I've so far been a little disappointed, overall, with most of Hill's work -- I've liked them all, but nothing has really "blown me away" like I thought they were all going to in the early pages of each story -- but this one kicked so much ass. I can't wait to read it again.J.N.
Glad you enjoyed it, James! I did too, but I was hoping for a little more (view spoiler)That brought me down just a little bit.
Yeah, some history would have really put it over the top.Loved it, but I'm still waiting for Hill's masterpiece.

First Joe Hill book for me and I've got about 50 pages left to go. I think it's been a really good read, I've thoroughly enjoyed it and wished I'd tried him sooner!

I would also highly recommend Wraith which is a series of graphic novels about the Rolls and Charlie Manx. I thought it was awesome. The compilation of the comics is what I linked above and I think it was only about $20.00.
Charlene, great suggestion on picking up Wraith. That should help to extend my vision of Christmasland.

Thanks, Charlene. The graphic novels have been recommended to me by other people too. You can't all be wrong!

I have a funny story about the movie - one Halloween my grandpa took me trick or treating while my mom and her sister watched horror movies all night. When I got home I ran ahead and tapped the front window to tell I was back. Well... they were watching Salem's Lot and it was that scene. It was perfect. Completely unplanned. But perfect. Lol.
