Do you think Rudy was necessary to the story/played an important role in Ben's life? Why or why not?

I think Rudy was really important, he was the one who really taught Ben about life, suffering and how you need to forgive yourself to move on, and sometimes that's the hardest thing. Rudy kind of taught Ben life lessons he was never going to get.

I really think Ben's relationship with Rudy is what brought him to make the decisions he did towards the end of the book. It was definitely the turning point for the novel. Oh, but it was so sad.

I don't really remember much of this book. However, I do remember Rudy. I believe he was important to the story and maybe no necessarily to Ben's life. Rudy showed the reader, and also ben, the kind of people that are in the world, and that you have to forgive yourself and move on or it'll tear you apart.
