Feliks (dzerzhinsky) There were a string of supermarket-checkout aisle, paperback mass market books in the 1970s which featured disaster striking New York City, often with lurid cover art that showed the Empire State Building in peril. Examples: 'The Swarm'; 'Blackout!' and 'Ice!'
Ice! by Arnold Federbush

The one I'm seeking is called something like, 'Plague'; or 'Black Plague'; or 'Black Death' and is about bubonic plague striking modern-day Manhattan.

The cover had an illustration of a large, evil-looking, long-snouted, very hairy gray rat hunched over the island of Manhattan and its body snuggled up against the skyscrapers.

Halp! :)
