Joy H. (joyofglensfalls) | 16697 comments I went to a live performance of Arthur Miller's "All My Sons" last night at our local Wood Theater. It's heavy stuff. The performers were excellent! The performers were: Barbara Miner, Neil Akins, Avery Clark and Nick Baroudi, all excellent! Neil Akins is also the company’s artistic director. Terry Rabine directed the show.
(Goodreads link: All My Sons )

The show was presented by WrightStage Productions, in collaboration with Rabine Productions and Charles R. Wood Theater

I also downloaded the film* (via a rental) starring David Suchet. I'll finish watching it today. I think the acting at the Wood was even better than (or at least as good as) the acting in the film.:
* It's a film of the actual play, captured at the Apollo Theatre, London in December 2010.

I wish I could get the version with Burt Lancaster!

"All My Sons -Arthur Miller’s tremendously impressive drama that received the 1947 New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Play.
"During the war Joe Keller and Steve Deever ran a machine shop which made airplane parts. Deever was sent to prison because the firm turned out defective parts, causing the deaths of many men. Keller went free and made a lot of money. The twin shadows of this catastrophe and the fact that the young Keller son was reported missing during the war dominate the action. The love affair of Chris Keller and Ann Deever, the bitterness of George Deever returned from the war to find his father in prison and his father's partner free, are all set in a structure of almost unbearable power. The climax showing the reaction of a son to his guilty father is fitting conclusion to a play electrifying in its intensity."
