Sounded like a challenge so I had a peek.

Yup: a pretty substantial list, but hang on GR a little and I betcha it's gonna get twice as big. This place corrupts.

Mine's worse. lol
I had to change my shelves. I have over 2000 books on it, and only 500 read. So I made an "unread" folder, to seperate those from my "to-reads". Most of my books are cheap from garage sales, thrift shops, and the friends of library sales ($1/bag on sundays).

Kasia Wow! Briansgirl I just saw that. Insane, tell me when are you going to read all that? I know my to-read would last me over a year, but yours...

::speechless::

ஐ Briansgirl (Book Queen)ஐ (briansgirlkate) I have no idea when or if I'll get to all of it. lol But I rarely by anything new, unless its by my favorite author. And even then, I only buy paperbacks new and not often. I pick up alot at 50 or 60 cents each, or the $1/bag sale last day of the library's sale. I have 7 apple boxes of old harlequins in the basement. If I want to read something new, I try to find it at the library. I love to read but I still don't manage to get as much read as others here. I also tend to reread which is why my shelves are overflowing. I won't swear everyone on my shelves are to my taste. lol When you get them cheap, its hit or miss on alot of them. If I've read one book by an author I'm likely to pick up a few others by him if they're cheap enough, but I havn't read them yet. I like that no matter what mood I'm in, I'll find a book to read in my house somewhere. And my "stash" so to speak (both in books and craft supplies) helps me out now that I don't have much money. I still have stuff to read without paying full price for anything. Those $1/bag sales are great. I can fill a paper grocery sack as solid as a brick with about 80 paperbacks. I usually head to the romance tables but this year I might get a bag off regular fiction or mystery tables. (Last year I got westerns).

Oh I bet, I already have books picked out to read for this month at least this gives me some order and i get to put a dent in my TBR list and bookshelf.

message 9: by Anna (new)

Anna | 39 comments My recent to read shelf is about a hundred mostly on the TBR list but then I have a bookshelf with over 500 books of all romance genres. i don't know when I'm ever going to read all those books but now that I'm with goodreads and all these challenges I'll cut that time in half.

ஐ Briansgirl (Book Queen)ஐ (briansgirlkate) I learned I needed to put most books into goodreads (except for the really old ones in the basement. lol). When I started trying to find books for challenges (especially A-Z authors and book titles), I was searching through my goodreads shelves which is far easier than attacking my physical bookshelves, some stacked 2 high and 3 deep. Now I only have to dig though the shelves to locate an actual book to read I've already picked.... or in cases where they post a cover challenge (read a book with a kissing couple on the cover). The more I dug through my shelves, again and again, lol, the more time I spent putting them in here so I wouldn't have to dig. Then I was amazed at how many they actually added up to!! lol

yeah i know. im gonna cut my TBR list first then start with the shelf when i run out.

ஐ Briansgirl (Book Queen)ஐ (briansgirlkate) It really helped me when I sorted the unread books with the TBR pile. Not that it doesn't change frequently, lol.
