How did Church, the cat end up in New York?

If i'm not wrong Jem named the cat he rescued 'Church' and that's the name of the cat in the New York institute in 2007. Is the cat immortal?

He is immortal. When the Black sisters had him, they performed spells on him, hence, immortal.

The cat only started talking in City of Bones. How did that happen?
it was in the end of clockwork angel where will and Jem are going to kill the dark sisters and they find a cat there so jem decides to take it home!
maybe there is something special about Church and it might come into play later????
Did you hear what Cassandra said? Church is a Warlock. A very powerful Warlock. The dark sisters performed a necromancy spell with him. Also his Warlock mark is his cat body. Maybe Magnus brings him to New York with him? Or Tessa saves him?

I bet you Magnus took Church with him, and Tessa, after everyone died.
Church is immortal due to the Black Sisters experimenting on him. I think that when Magnus moved to America, he took Church with him. It's also plausible that Tessa went with him, which would explain how the clockwork angel ended up in the library in the Institute. But it's all speculation at this point.
Oh, I bet so too! Someone from TID took Church with them to New York. It actually might have been Tessa. Think about it.

he visited Chairman-meow (not sure how to spell) and accidentaly got stuck in New York with him and Magnus got sick of him so he dumped him at the institute.

This is wats gonna happen. Tessa and Will are gonna kiss. Jem is gonna catch them and be heartbroken. then he'll die of heartbrokeness, or whatever. And then both Tessa and Will will feel so guilty that they don't ever get together. Then later, Will is gonna die of heartbrokeness cause his sis betrayed him to the Magister. ANd right befire he dies, he and tess are gonna be like, "i luv u" and then tessa goes to New york with Magnus and then yeah... (btw this is wat i think)

I just finished rereading Clockwork Princess so here is what I gathered. When Magnus was going back to New York Charlotte agreed to let him take Church with him. She agreed cause Church didn't like it without Jem at the Institute.
