Jackie, did you read, "Wolf Hall?' And what did you think, if so? I found I had to skip ahead around the middle but then did finish it and went back and tried to retrace my steps.
"The grand essentials to happiness in this life are something to do, something to love, and something to hope for." -Joseph Addison (1672-1719)
I wish life was that simple. Joy, you asked what the grandmother of the groom was going to wear to the wedding..actually, right now the grandmother doesn't know as it depends on the weather. The wedding is to be on the side of a tall hill. And because I have to climb up it there will be no high heels; not that there would have been anyway. And the wedding reception is to be held under tents in my daughter's back yard. If the weather is cool for the reception I will wear my satin jacket with leopard design and black sild pants and bronze sandals..If it is hot, I'll wear a long slim shimmery blue dress. I will let you know when I return what I decide.
Nina, I wish you could send pics of yourself in one of those stylish outfits. I'll bet you will look beautiful!
"Gilbert White discovered the formula for complete happiness, but he died before making the announcement, leaving it for me to do so: It is to be very busy with the unimportant."---A. Edward Newton (1864-1940), _This Book-Collecting Game_, Chapter 10

Great funny quote, Joy. I am sure there will be pictures and thanks ahead of time for the compliment. My face might not be beautiful but my heart will be full of love.
Thanks Joy, a compliment is nice to receive at any age. And shouldn't we compliment our children young and old more often...
Nina wrote: "Thanks Joy, a compliment is nice to receive at any age. And shouldn't we compliment our children young and old more often..."I agree. Years ago some folks thought that praising our kids would give them swelled heads. But there's disagreement about that.
I'm currently listening to the audio version of The Charisma Myth: How Anyone Can Master the Art and Science of Personal Magnetism by Olivia Fox Cabane. She advocates the use of praise, among other things.
"In my writing, as much as I could, I tried to find the good, and praise it." -Alex Haley
Can you believe Alex Haley and I attended the same Jr. College in CA; he was there some years later as he is younger then me. I love his quote.

I have a similar connection. I graduated from the same high school (and in the same year) as David Halberstam, the Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist & author. In fact he signed a page in my H.S. yearbook back in 1951. See the page below:

Nina wrote: "I think that is a treasure. Be sure to hand it down to a member of your family."Nina, it's in one of my scrapbooks but I know the kids will never have room to save all my scrapbooks. At least we have it saved digitally.
PS-Maybe I should frame it but I already have too many framed photographs. :) My kids call my house a "museum". :)

"There is no going back. There are some things that time cannot mend -- some hurts that go too deep -- that have taken hold. ...
... It's never really healed."
-Frodo's words, near the end of the film, "The Return of the King" (The Lord of the Rings, #3) (Book by J.R.R. Tolkien )
