some great websites to check out on this ; Medialens ,and Greg Palast.
Medialens produced an excellent book called ' Guardians of Power' which shows how even ' liberal' papers are influenced by the corporations that pay most of their bills with advertsing.....

There really isn't any "independent" media that's accessible to the masses. TV, Radio and Print Media are so inter-bred and mainly owned by just a few who are absolutely NOT interested in sharing truth.
I can only speak to the media here in the US, which is simply dreadful and the media in Thailand where I lived for a couple of years. In the US newspapers are written at about a 6th grade level and it's all celebrity and consumer-driven. TV is worse. It's frightening to me that folks here get their "news" and thus their opinions from the television. There is LINK TV on satelite here in the US though and it's FABULOUS with world news and also documentary programming.
In Thailand, there are a couple of good newspapers that seem to be truly interested in sharing news. BBC on the telly was good there; completely different than the version of BBC we have here in the US.
I agree with Hector--we need to read, read, read, and work for our truth!!
